Title: Pixel art crap
Post by: supasora on October 07, 2009, 04:57:25 AM
Yeah. I havent been on a lot lately because of school. since school is so time consuming, I dont even mess with rm2k3 anymore. So Ive been messing with the easyer to use mugen instead. Here is the first part of an idle animation of a character Im making. I suck at shading and you can see the grey pallete on the dress. I need to finish the sword. I think it looks decent, but it needs A "lot" (blughh!!!) of work. I avoided using caps on "lot".

The anatomy, and the wrinkles are very nice.

The face looks a bit odd, maybe try not having the lock of hair down on the right side (since head is small it looks like it's part of her face). Also, her right breast is a lot larger than her let, and it's not sitting like a breast should, it's going slightly sideways, and sticking out the side. Women's breasts can't be wider than their rib cages, it's physically impossible (unless she got a botched implant job). Also, the sword could use a bit more shading, and the angle should be altered slightly so it's a bit more behind her.

In terms of pose, if it's a battle pose, it's a little on the relaxed side. Also, if you look at the size of her and then the size of the sword and try to imagine yourself in that position, you'd notice that to hold a sword at that angle would be extremely awkward, even if you were very strong.  It's too low to be held at a comfortable height, and too high to rest.

I know that sounds like a lot of criticism, but it is actually very nice. *thumbs up* :)

I like the feed back except the sword stays like is (the position). Like the nerd i am I stood in my room and every time I held the sword I held it like the picture and It felt natural. I tried it your way and it felt weird. It also seemed like it would take more effort to swing it your way. Or Im just weird. The pose is just my perfered way of making the character looked relaxed. This is supposed to be a power character. Other wise Im in the process of fixing things.

So you hold it swayed way the **** out to your side?
That takes talent.

Why do you have a giant sword in your room?

If we're going to gauge realism, a sword that size would take incredible effort in and of itself just to be brandished properly.  Not only so, but its reverse-tapered blade makes it practically useless as a sword, requiring more the hacking motion of an axe or ice pick to be an effective weapon.  Of course, that's just by my crude estimation.

Also, unless the sword is actually shaped like that, you're using the worst kind of pillow-shading on the blade - that being the sort that's as lazy as just two shades.
