Does anyone have or is anyone willing to make some battle animations based out of some of the spells from Chrono Trigger? In particular I am looking for: Lightning 2, Ice 2, Fire 2, Dark Bomb, and Dark Matter.
Yes, I'm serious. :P

Would it help if I offer a bribe trade of services? I'd be willing to do some sprite work for anyone that can get me some rips.

Umm....I have an *** load of battle animations on my comp. I don't know exactly what the Chrono Trigger ones look like but I'd be glad to give you what I've got!

Those particular animations would be extremely tough to cleanly rip through standard means since they tend to engulf other sprites and/or expand and cover the entire screen or a wide radius.
However, I am always looking for a challenge. I shall see what I can do, if you still need them that is. :)

Linkforce's set had a few animations that looked like they were inspired by the CT ones (I'm pretty sure I recognized Ice 2 in there) but there were no clear-cut Trigger rips.
I had previously resigned myself to just dealing with the fact it wasn't going to really happen, but if can get the real animations for me, I will be extremely grateful and replay the favor in any realistic way that you wish.

Okay, so here's the Dark Bomb rip, in the form of a Battle2 animation:

It's not the cleanest rip as a bunch of editing had to be done. Another problem is the base of the expanding frames tends to shift here and there, which I'm sure I could correct if I spent a bit more time with it, but I thought that you might like to see it.
The first frame should should be enlarged by 210% in the editor to match the starting animation frame.
I'll try for the others later this week, then come back to this and correct it.

Wow, very nicely done! I'm sure I can correct minor issues with the size and lining things up and the like now that I have this to work with.

Luckily for me, the actual spell frame was on different layer, meaning I could disable everything else including the sprites and get a nice clean rip.

Lightning 2 was extremely easy to rip.

A few notes about this animation:
1: The frames go 1 and 2 for the top of the screen then 3 and 4 for the bottom half of the animation then you get a blank frame which signals that the next "frame" of animation is to begin.

2: Because of the menu during battle, a sizable chunk of animation is missing. This can be remedied by simply doubling up the frames within the animation.

Pro work again. I can see Lightning 2 is going to take some effort to assemble, but you did lay it out in about the best way I can think of when dealing with a complicated pattern like that.
