Title: Computerless.
Post by: Grandy on November 12, 2009, 08:56:36 PM
Due to overheat and computer nearly exploding RIGHT INTO MY FACE.
...
So, I made that up. Mostly.
Still, the computer did overheat.

I know how it feels, man. Hopefully you rid yourself of this horrid affliction soon enough.

I am terribly sorry for your loss.

So, I'm back.

The overheat was only in the monitor or however you speak it in english. Luckly we had another old computer with the exact same monitor just lying around for the picking.

Sheesh, is it me or does Grandy have some of the worst PC luck?

That sounds like really good PC luck to me.

I can honestly say I've never heard of a monitor overheating though.
Video cards, yes, but not the actual monitor itself.

Sounds more like he's doing it for the attention.

Hm... monitor overheating? =/ Well my monitor blinks periodically.

Stop trying to get attention. It's not working.

...Says the man who's taking notice of your post...

My monitor occasionally goes darker for no reason... It's weird.

Some bastards lopped the back half of my monitor off when they shipped it. Thankfully, it still works, but it really doesn't work nearly as well as it probably would've. It leaves weird dark spaces for a moment when images on the screen move...

My monitor tends to BSOD from time to time.

Yeah.
Title: Re: Computerless.
Post by: Darkfox on November 14, 2009, 12:03:24 AM
I haven't BSOD' in a while, luckily.
Title: Re: Computerless.

I though you said BDSM

BSOD =/= BDSM

Sorry, math problems is the last thing you want on charas, since
being on charas lowers your brainwaves to a dim low.

I dont get you felix. No offense but your post is just an unrelated math thing. Fruck and Zerlina actually said something that had something to do with the topic, and were kinda funny.
Anyway, I think sarcasm is pretty easy to tell on the internet.

It is not.

(2x+3)(8x+12)
Solve!
Can't. We don't know what x is, and we don't have an answer to the equation to work with.

I would have loved to work that bitch out, had you not half-assed it.
Title: Re: Computerless.
Post by: fruckert on November 15, 2009, 06:38:29 AM
You can't solve, but you can kinda simplify it.
Which I don't feel like doing cause I hate math.
Title: Re: Computerless.
Post by: Archem on November 15, 2009, 06:54:37 AM
Solve ≠ simplify.

There's no such thing as a "best number." You might end up with a messy decimal or something, but the answer is the answer. After you get out of school people stop making math problems that are designed to have whole, round numbers, so you'd best get used to it.

x is -0.940983ish in that example.
Title: Re: Computerless.
Post by: SaiKar on November 15, 2009, 03:42:58 PM
It's still solvable. Plug my number in: you'll find it's correct.

And nobody plans on doing math when they get out of school. That's why credit card debt is sky-high and people find themselves with houses they can't pay for. But hey, I don't judge, I'm just making sure I'm ahead of the game.

-2.059ish, yeah.

Math backgrounds aren't all that bad if you're not going into a theoretical field. I'm an engineer but I do shockingly little real calculations. The computers do most of the grunt work. Most of my math background is based on looking at the results and being able to go "wait, no, this isn't right at all" if something's screwed up.

In today's world, that's all you really need.  I can do the same thing with a piece of music nowadays, which is great.  Also, math is important, kids.
