Seeing as how it's TOMORROW I feel this is appropriate. Although as I recall many members don't live in the US and probably don't celebrate this holiday... but whatever.
Topics of interest:
What are you thankful for?!??!
Thanksgiving Day plans?
Spam <- No one likes spam on Thanksgiving...
This year I am going 50 miles away and celebrating with the "cool" side of my family... which probably means drinking with a bunch of hicks... yeah.
I am thankful for the company Rare, and all the amazing games it has brought us. And family/etc...

I am thankful that we are not oppressed by Mole People, that we have alternatives to TV and that the sky is blue because every other color for it sucks... except red
-
Thankful for a Sick Puppies concert I'm going to this weekend.
And canned cranberry sauce.

I get the dubious pleasure of airport travel to cross the country and see my folks for one of the few holidays I get off work.
Saying things like that in comparison to the rest of ya'lls responses makes me start to realize that I'm getting old :(

Or orange, or a golden orange color... or for more awesomeness, a constant black-light effect!
As for me, I'm thankful for a lot of things. Friends, family, not contracting diseases from the multitude of insects that bite me in the summer, video games, Jackie Chan, Bruce Campbell, etc.

Thankful for friends, some family, and not chopping my leg off with my kukri today. Blasted pine tree...

I'm thankful for all the food that I'm going to be eating.

You wanna know how I got these eyebrows? My father... was a makeup arist.... And a fiend.

I'm thankful for being Canadian... and thankful for my American wife, so I have to be thankful...

I'm thankful that I made my connection flight in Atlanta after my first flight was a half hour late getting in. Running a mile or so through a crowded airport with a laptop bag strapped around your neck wasn't the best experience but will probably make a good holiday story later.
My folks aren't celebrating the holiday itself with the extended family until Saturday since my aunt couldn't get up here until then. For today we'll probably watch the Lions lose and chill.

This is gonna sound cheesy, but things have been changing for me a lot lately. I finally broke up the old band that wasn't going anywhere and it's been a lot more of a relief than I imagined. Far too stressful, not fun at all. I've made better friend choices and college has been actually very good for me, I enjoy it a lot more than high-school. Though I do still have a habit of falling behind on some work, I mostly get it done.
Things have just been good, and I feel happier than I was a year ago. I'm thankful for this and the chance to make these changes.

Thankful? I'm British. We don't do thankful much. However, I'm thankful for the internet for successfully doubling my group of friends! I'm also thankful for rain...
-
We had food everyone could eat (we had gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.)
Two sets of grandparents still alive.

I ate a little bit of food (yeah, a little bit), and then watched Zoolander again for the hundredth time. Had to deal with my family all day, and I'm like some giant insult target to them, so you can imagine how fun that was.
And then I'm here now.
So, yeah. About as lame as the rest of my year has been.

I'm thankful that it's almost Christmas!

It's mostly a harvest festival holiday. According to story and legend, religious pilgrims aboard the ship Mayflower left England due to religious persecution and came to the American colonies to be able to practice religion in peace. But they kind of picked a bad time to do it and were freezing in the new land without really knowing how to feed themselves and survive the winter. The
Indians native Americans in the area took pity on them and helped them survive the winter and learn some basic farming techniques. The holiday is based on a feast between the natives and the pilgrims that may or may not have actually ever happened, but it makes a pretty good story. When I was in like grade school we dressed up half with pilgrim hats and half with Indian headband things and ate lunch together on the last school day before the holiday. I don't know if they still do that - my guess is that ultra-sensitive America can't handle that sort of thing anymore...
Nowadays it's a secular holiday. Traditions include meeting up with all of one's extended family, eating a big meal that focuses around a turkey, and saying what one is thankful for in the past year or so.

Heh, I remember doing that. I was an Indian. I wore some kind of leather vest thing made of brown construction paper. They still do it, but yeah, there's always ultra-sensitive people complaining that it's racist somehow, and some schools are banning it.

Oh god.

I was an Indian. Knocked over some Pilgrim kid because he took my swing.

I also remember that Thanksgiving dress-up thing. I was a stick-in-the-mud, and I ditched the costume ASAP.
I also remember some sort of game from my pre-school. When fishstick day rolled around, the teachers would set up one of those little plastic swimming pools and fill them with water and plastic goldfish with magnets in them. Then, during recess, you could "catch" lunch with a little fishing pole with a magnet on the end.
Lots of fun, really. I miss that.
