Greetings fellow dreamers! I'm sure everyone here has had at least one weird dream. Y'know, the one about the flying space iguanas (or whatever). On this thread I'd like you to post your dreams! Then, if someone can be bothered, they can be analysed using the best technology the internet has to offer (You better hope it's not freudian!).
Example:
I had a dream where I was being chased around a hill by a viking. Also, sometimes I dream the future.
Have fun!
-
I have weird dreams all the time. None of them make sense, and there's never a theme. It's constantly changing.
It usually/always has some sort of video game setting. Such as a map or location. Even a HUD here and there.
-
I've heard before that if you dream about games, that means you are feeling "controled" in life and desperatly need more freedom.
...... or you could just be playing too much video games.
-
Oh, hey! You actually made the thread.
I've mentioned before, but my dreams can be severely messed up. Like the one I had a few days ago. I was sent to clear out the people out of a town. If they resisted, I had orders to eliminate them.
Not many left willingly.
-
So...hokay.
I had this dream.
And it was like, weird and stuff.
I got transported through the internet to Brazil for some reason.
I've never been to Brazil, so it kind of looked like what I've seen of India for some odd reason.
Tigers included.
But anyways, I whus chillin' with Lucas.
And stuff.
When I found this weird salamander looking thing on the ground.
It was some rancid looking fruit, that Lucas called Salamander's Tongue.
I decided to call it ambrosia, because everybody ate some of it (it had the consistency of old bruised bananas for some reason), and everybody loved it and everybody thought it tasted different (mine tasted like honey with a hint of citrus...num).
And then the dream stopped.
Anyways, that gave me the inspiration for...well...a fruit in Myrdia.
Another weird one...
I was in my grandmothers house.
And I went and plucked a few notes on a piano.
Suddenly, everything went dark, and I heard some crazy metal-on-rusted-metal sound.
I went and looked at the really nice plasma TV that was there for some reason, and a hand that appeared to be made out of clockwork and gears, and an hourglass started appearing as if it was going to shatter the tv from the inside out.
The rest I've kind of blacked out, but I do remember that the end resulted in my death.
Yeah, I got weird dreams.
-
I had a dream long ago that Inspector Gadget... yes, as a toon... visited my school as a special guest.
I also had a dream that I was teen Gohan attacking evil coconuts in Hawaii, hilariously I'm not a fan of DBZ.
I also had a dream I was some kind of anime character stuck in the middle of a beast/human war with a crossbow and a male kitsune guide who kept telling me to kill the enemy on TV while everyone was watching (WTF?). It was a really weird dream.
I also had a dream where I beat up Juggernaught, Wolverine, and several other Marvel characters while over the bottomless pit area where you see some guy flaming in the background... yeah...
Edit: Oh and really long ago I had a dream I was Heathcliff the cat riding on a skateboard. I... dunno either...
-
I made a few treads about this. Recently I was attacked by a half-bird half-leech monster which roared like Lavos.
-
I have this recurring dream where I can't get to sleep. Like, at all. The weird thing is, the next day, I'm tired as hell.
It happens all the time. Last night, even.
God, what I'd give for one of those flying dreams right about now. Or falling. Or even floating. Haven't had one of those since I was, like, six.
-
My dreams are ultra-realistic. People I know do stuff that's in character for them to do. Granted, sometimes it's weird or outright impossible stuff, but if it's normal enough sometimes I have a hard time figuring out later if it was a dream or if it was a real memory. I've gotten mad at people for things I thought they said but later turned out to be part of a dream. It's an odd problem I have.
I made a few treads about this. Recently I was attacked by a half-bird half-leech monster which roared like Lavos.
ANYTHING roaring like Lavos is the stuff of nightmares...
-
Yeah, my dreams are extremely realistic too. But the events are never "normal", it always some crazy shii. But all the minor details are realistic, as a gamer I guess I would say everything is properly "rendered"... textures, colors... None of those details are vauge. I've read before that some people can't read or see letters/numbers in their dreams, but I do. Not like I dream about reading books... how boring!
-
I've heard that it is actually fairly rare for people to have most of their senses while dreaming, yet I can hear/taste/feel perfectly in my dreams. My sense of smell is already fairly dead for some reason...but for some reason...in my dreams I can't really "see". It's extremely hard to describe...it's very synaesthetic.
-
I don't dream much. But the latest dream I remember was about me having to cut open some guys chest with a small dagger since he was some kind of badguy who hid a bomb inside him. So instead of agreeing to his demands I stabbed him and cut him open - removed the bomb and everyone was happy and rainbows. Well - except for the dead guy. But he's in a better place now.
Oh, I remember another one. I found a way to trade the Shadow Lugia from Pokémon XD to platinum and it had all the shadow moves and stuff. And it could breed since the developers of XD never bothered to prevent shadow pokés from breeding.
-
One time I dreamed I was in this narrow cavern with water up to the waist, and Shadow Link from the Shadow Temple in OoT was hiding somewhere and going to kill me. O.o;
Also once I dreamed I was being chased by an axe murderer, so I hid in the showers of my old elementary school (you could climb up the soap dishes and get up to near the ceiling. He opened the curtain and found me but then I realized I was dreaming, so I told him to stop, and then he just went limp like he was a robot or something, and then I went out and started dictating what would happen- so I went to the street in front of my house, and I said "I want to go to Disney World" and then Disney world appeared across the street and I wanted to fly there, so I started flying. I've only managed to do this kind of thing maybe 3 times. But seriously, if you realize you're dreaming in a dream, and you can hold onto that memory, then you can control what happens in it.
-
Um, is it just me or arer you starting to discuss cheat-codes for dreams?
Seriously though, I realised I was dreaming once. I just don't remember what happened...
Also, I've never had a flying/floating dream. I just trip on pavements.
I have also had 'The Video Game Dream'. Mainly with Kingdom Hearts...
I had a dream the other day with this really pretty girl with bright red hair in it... It was confusing because occasionally she looked exactly like my ex (who didn't have red hair) and when I woke up all I could remember was the red hair and that I thought the girl was pretty... Also something about eating steak...
-
...DUDE, that wasn't a girl, that was your persona character.
-
What? As in Persona 4? Or is this another persona?
-
Lucid dreaming anyone? That's when you realize that you're dreaming and can have control of the dream. Literally whatever your brain can imagine. For me the realizing part is usually associated when I hear the word "dream" in my dreams. Also, it's hard to stay in REM sate once you've realized you're in it on a conscious level. For me anyways.
-
I was about to say something about that but decided "**** it".
-
Sorry, no. Lucid dreaming is beyond my reach, or at least that's what I remember. They say you don't remember most of the dreams you have.
I don't remember any.
-
Do you guys ever get when you're having a nightmare and you realize it, so you wake yourself up, but then when you wake up, you can't open your eyes, or move? Sometimes it happens to me where I'm fully concious and putting in a lot of effort, but I can't move...it's the most exhausting, and scary thing... and I find it's hard to stay awake once I do it, so I fall back asleep and then go through the process over and over again. Sometimes I can do things like wiggle my toes or fingers slightly to signal a person I'm with that they should shake me. They usually miss it. It's a realy weird feeling, like calling for help to someone who can't hear you.

Yeep.
Basically your brain hasn't realized that it's awake yet so it hasn't started the movement abilities yet.
*shudders*
While I haven't experienced sleep paralysis, it does sound awful.
This is turning into a "Weird things related to REM" thread.
-
I've had a handful of lucid dreams I remember...They're a bit tricky. It's rare to realize you're dreaming while in a dream, and it's hard not to quickly wake up when you do. You have to constantly distract yourself from waking yourself up...the few times I've successfully done this, I was flapping my arms to make myself fly. I could obviously still fly without the flapping, but the rote motion distracted me enough for me to focus on the experience and not think, "Wow! This is a lucid dream! I wonder what I can-- oh crap, I'm up."
I read a book about lucid dreaming one time, and it had a handy tip to up your chances of having one. Make a list of common, everyday items and whenever you see any of them, resolve to ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" ...even if you know for certain you're not. This will eventually become a mental habit that you'll take with you in your dreams.
-
Sleep paralysis, one of the banes to my existence.
I watched a special last night. Apparently, nightmares occur mainly in REM sleep. Also, depressives tend to skip every sleep cycle except REM and are more tired than other people.
Hum. That sounds almost exactly like me.

I can verify this as fact.

That was MY line. I've expirenced sleep paralysis all the time in school. scary feeling. I generally have control of movement in my dreams. everything else is there. I REALLY need to lay off video games

I know I've HAD lucid dreams. I just can't remember what the hell happened in them...
This thread is getting pretty interesting. I had a dream where I managed to get Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for GBA to work without any other players. That's one of my nerdier dreams...
My dad's pretty spiritual and he says that if you have a falling dream and you manage not to wake up before you hit the ground, your spirit sorta falls out of your body and you have an out of body experience... I never tried it though...
I REALLY need to lay off video games
Looking at this thread, we ALL need to lay off the games...

What? I can't have depression and not be emo?
I think I should cut myself. It's all your fault.
I had a dream where I managed to get Legend of Zelda: Four Swords for GBA to work without any other players.
Dude, that would be so awesome. I finally found my copy, and all my friends who had it have moved.
Well, at least I got the Whirlwind Blade and the bonus dungeon.

HUD's don't appear in normal dreams. also archem if you do you must post pics

GENIUS! If anyone feels like drawing/spriting/artifying their dreams, I fully encourage them to post it here!
p.s.Your avatar.
I forgot to say: Is my av really that effeminate?
-
Yeah. It kinda really is.
-
Well, if play a game for hours and hours day after day I tend to dream about that game and only that game. Like World at War, I was dreaming I was playing Nazi zombies... Kind of annoying actually.
-
Yeah. It kinda really is.
'kay! I'm thinking of changing it though...
Back on topic! umm... I had this dream where I was time-travelling through a library and then somehow I ended up on a pirate ship and I got rescued by some friends. Then I walked through a graveyard with one of them... Judging by the dress my friend was wearing, the setting was Victorian...
-
Oh! I remember this one Tetris dream I had! I was playing Tetris. Well, it was more like I was watching Tetris happen, only I was in control. And, of course, it was on max speed.
I think that was the day where I played a single game for eight hours because I had nothing better to do.
-
I had a dream once where I was in a white room. It seemed that there was nothing else around for miles. There was a guy dressed in scientist's clothing sitting at a desk, with stacks of papers on it, writing utensils, and what seemed like scientific equipment. He was staring intensely at a small black orb. So naturally I walk over and ask him "What is that?", and he just says "The universe." without even looking away. I ask him several questions: Where am I? What's beyond this point? He didn't answer. The I asked if there was anybody here. He said "That guy" and pointed and I looked over and there was some guy, very average looking standing about 50 yards away. He waved. I looked back to the scientist and he was gone. So was the other person. Then I woke up. Not the craziest, but one of the more interesting dreams I've had...
-
Wut?
Probably one of the scarier dreams that I've ever had was I suddenly woke up, because it feeled as if I had dried blood all over my face.
I went into the bathroom to look, and it appeared as if I had some kind of red coral like substance all over my face.
And it kept growing.
I went into my dad's room to ask him what was up with that, and he had the same stuff too, and he said something that I can't really remember, I think it was kind of like "This was it, it was all" something weird and gibberishy.
Anyways, I went back into my room cause I was tired and it didn't occur to me to call the hospital for this weird hard material all over my face, and started feeling my face.
Then I woke up, sitting up in my bed, feeling dried blood all over my face, with my dad's room open, bathroom light on, and the hallway light on.
It turned out I had a nosebleed (happens all the ****ing time in my sleep) and sleepwalked about it.
Never before had I felt so out of control of myself.
-
Nosebleeds when you sleep?
I get them right as I'm waking up sometimes. It's a bitch.
-
Well. This one time I had been sitting in front of the computer all day long recolouring an RMXP charaset for no real reason. When I finally went to bed, I couldn't sleep. After a while, I realized that I had something of utter importance to tell my father. I immediately got out of bed and knocked on the door to his room. He came to the door. I started to inform him of the grave matter at hand. "The purple knight... The blue cape... You... You have to... I... The blue cape..." He became frustrated because he didn't understand the dilemma, and because I had awoken him past midnight. Eventually I gave up. I hopped back in bed disappointed. It took me no less than a few seconds of lying down with my eyes closed to realize... Wait a minute. What the hell just happened? What was I trying to tell him? It was so strange. I knew exactly what I was doing, and it all made perfect sense.
Yeah... There was another time I got up in the middle of the night thinking I had forgotten to brush my teeth. I went to the bathroom and started to do so. My father came in and asked me what I was doing. I turned to him with an indignant expression. "...It's not fair! You always get everything!" I yelled before storming off to bed.
I've actually had a self-induced lucid dream before. It was fun. I induced it by checking my watch twice (to see if the numbers changed). I kept it going for a while by spinning around in circles and yelling "INCREASE LUCIDITY!" every so often.
Let's see... I've had a dream that was heavily influenced by Garry's Mod. That was cool. Got kinda weird after a while. I pushed a morbidly obese person off a building to 'save' him. The guy talking to me in my earpiece told me to.
Hmm... I've had a dream where I woke up in the exact same setting that I was sleeping, but I had boobs.
One time when I was sick with a fairly high fever, there was this period of time that I was lying in bed that I can't really piece together. It was very blurry and drowsy and I can't pick out when I was awake or dreaming or a strange combination of the two. At some point, I had my headphones in, but I wasn't really listening to any music. I started to imagine music... But it actually sounded like it was coming out the headphones. It sounded legitimate, balanced, polished, well-produced. There weren't any breaks where I had to stop and think of the next part... It was just a constant stream of music that sounded real and as if it were coming from my headphones. It sounded really awesome too. I'm not sure how to explain it. It was really bizarre. It's a shame I can't remember how the songs went... I remember them being amazing.

I dreamt today that Brasil was in a full scale war against Japan for no definitive reason. Also, someone unleashed a T-Rex in the battlefield, which acted as a third party, neither the japanese not the brasillians knew which side had unleashed it.
Me and some japanese soldier became friends, and tried to mediate peace, but he ended up being swallowed whole by the T-Rex. Cut to the next scene, military training montaje!
*one Eye Of The Tiger montaje later*
Some samurai beheaded me in the front lines.

I haven't had any dreams in a while. Anyone have any tips on how to ensure you have a dream?
-

Sleep longer.
-
Actually, you did have dreams. it's impossible to sleep without dreaming. You just forget them when you wake up.
To remember them, you'd better wake up artificially, like have someone wake you up or a clock.
-
I've had a dream where I woke up in the exact same setting that I was sleeping, but I had boobs.
This is the most important thing I've heard all day.
-
Worst dream I had was when I was a kid. I dreamed that I had eaten some chemical spray by accident (it got sprayed into my mouth) and I was going to die and everyone was cool with it, my mom had even started planning the funeral. She said it was going to be in three days. Then we got in the car and when I got out no one could see or hear me, and I was suddenly a ghost. Then my family moved away and I couldn't follow them, and every time I tried to tell them I was still there they couldn't hear or see me, so the dream ended and basically I was sitting on the porch watching my family leave.
Weird how you remember bad dreams for a long time :-/
-
My last bad dream had something to do with alligators and anacondas and me running across logs in a swamp (Frogger, perhaps?).
I can't tell exactly what happened, but I'm sure that, despite being a "bad" dream, it was pretty awesome.

Damn, a couple days ago, I had one with gigantic gators and me running through a swamp getting bitten by venomous snakes.
This must mean something, but I don't know what.
-
I'm guessing it means that you're afraid of the scalier of God's creatures.
Also, you enjoy swamps, for whatever contradictory reason.
-
Last night, it was something about sailing, shipwrecks, drowning and starvation.
And puppies.

I do love me some swamp.

The problem is I always wake up before my clock!
I remember that I once had this dream. I was locked into a dark factory with the E.T from that movie. But he wanted to kill me and was fast as ****. I could run faster than I could in real life, and jump really high too. There were some light areas on the factory, near some randomly placed lamps. He couldnt go in those light areas for some reason, so I kept jumping and running between them, and while I was on the dark, I was scared as **** that he would get me.
That sounds like a brilliant concept for either a game or a movie!
-
Last night I dreamed I had to get my appendix out, and they were supposed to give me 4 anesthetic needles, with the last one to put me to sleep for the operation. But my mom called and said I had to stay awake and not get the fourth needle because if I fell asleep they'd steal all my organs O.o;
-
Did you stay awake or did you wake up missing a kidney, 1/4 of a liver and no lungs?
-
Last night I had nightmares constantly.
Last time I try to beat insomnia with some random sleeping pills my mom gave me.
The scarier of them had to do with my crippling fear of the dark.
*shudders*

Puppies and starvation are contradictory.
One was stuck in a cardboard box. We ate two and the rest bounced away on the waves. A flying sunfish watched.
-
I had a dream last night. It's a pretty long one, and I think parts of it may have been lucid.
*ahem*
It started with some ditsy blond and a husky black woman (dressed as a stereotypical slave woman). The black woman was tied by her hands to what appeared to be a swing set without the swings. They had some sort of conversation about escaping from the blond's father, and ended with the somewhat reluctant whitey releasing the black woman. After that, she began walking down the street I used to live on, towards the bayou at the end of the stretch of road. After that, she crossed a foot bridge, entering the neighborhood on the other end.
Around this point, I realize that the bridge is now fancier, and considerably wider. I also notice that I'm walking on the bridge with two friends. I can't remember who they were, but I suspect that they may have been my friends Michael and Adam. Pretty soon, we entered the much-nicer-than-it-should-have-been part of the area. We're walking along, and night comes very quickly. We decide to try to buy a house for some arbitrary reason. After finding a relatively cheap one (I think it was about $11,000), we started brainstorming ways to make money to pay for it. At some point, someone came up with an idea for a sitcom by looking at the moon. Had something to do with Ben Aflec, some kind of dog/crab hybrid, and something else. Can't remember what. We quickly called up someone from Nickelodeon, and sold them the idea.
After entering the house, I realized that I was no longer with my friends, but instead with my family. Also, this was my old house (sort of right back where I started, since the dream began in what turned out to be my front yard), although something about it was different. After a while, my sister (who, for some reason, was portrayed by Lisa Simpson) pointed out that the man who had sold us the house was a werewolf. She questioned his reasons for owning the house, since werewolfs had recently been restricted from owning property in our area. He looked something like the Beast from Disney's Beauty and the Beast. He ignored her question, and soon was having a conversation in the kitchen with my mother.
At about that point, I realized that the werewolf/Beast fellow was my dad. I also began to try to rationalize his home ownership. I figured that he was trying to sell the house because of the recent ban on werewolf property ownership. I also started to wonder why he hadn't left yet, since we now owned the place. I asked him politely to leave, since he no longer had business here. He refused. I began to get more aggressive, and my family began to grow uncomfortable with his presence. Something involving my sister's room and scary shadows in her window. No idea how that part fits into the dream. Anyways, I threaten to call the police if Mr. WerewolfBeastDad didn't leave. He called my bluff while I was in the backyard of my current house. It was still night, and it was somewhat chilly. I chose not to back down, and dialed 911.
After a few rings, someone picks up, and assumes that I'm "Stacy". I failed to mention that this house had recently been owned by a neighbor/friend of the family, Stacy. I have no idea how I figured that it was her house, but whatever. I told the man that Stacy had moved, and that I needed someone to help me remove the man from our house. He put me on hold, and I saw a rectangular map from Super Mario Bros. 3 where Mario kept quickly going around the map in a clockwise pattern. I guess it was some kind of loading screen. After a moment, my friend Michael (from before?) began to speak over the phone, but he had Stacy's voice. Not sure how I could tell how that all works, but I did. I also noticed that I was suddenly in the Halo 3 multiplayer level Stand-Off. After a few brief seconds of confused conversation, the man who I'd called in the first place took me off of hold, and a tank with man cannons attacked to the sides spawned in front of me. He began to tell me something, but I told him the tank I had been waiting for had arrived. He ignored that, and told me that nobody could help me at the time. They were at a party or something. I don't remember what he said exactly, but the police were all at some unimportant place.
After that, things get pretty fuzzy, and my sister came in and woke me up, telling me to go bring the trash cans up from the curb. I took a shower instead.
Helpful advice: When it's cold and windy outside, don't take a shower before going out. Also, don't go outside in shorts and a t-shirt.
That reminds me, I should do laundry tomorrow.

Some reason I had a dream I was hunting people from school down with an assault rifle... Yeah I have problems... >_>
Lucas once told me he had a dream where I was trying to kill him. Wish I could have te same dream.

Zombies seem to haunt my own dreams. Them or neo apocalyptic-like areas. Though I have some control over myself in them. Anybody else have a hard time controlling what's in the dream? I always wonder if I'm the only one...

I think most people have some problems with controlling dreams or we wouldn't have nightmares right?
I still haven't had any memorable dreams in a while...

There was actually a movie made like that a few years ago called "Vanilla Sky" with Tom Cruise in it. I always liked it. Made you think.
I also do that a lot. Most times I dream, in fact, though usually toward the end or before I wake up. I never do anything interesting, though, just small things I influence. Maybe subconsiously I want to see where it goes without me.

I had a dream today that I made this awesome final boss theme with haunting vocals but then I forgot it when I woke up. :(
