So my final project in my very first Maya class is due tomorrow. Still have much tweaking to do, but here is a rendering of "my" room.
You don't even wanna know how long it took to do that wrought iron headboard.
-
Holy crap! O_O That's darned impresive, Val! Never used Maya beffore, but da-ang! O.o That looks hard.
-
Woah Val, that is very impressive. I wish I could work with 3D modeling.
-
I thought it was real for a second. I also thought the thread title was "Yar's Revenge 3D". Shows where my mind is half the time, huh?
-
Damn girl, that rocks.
-
I very briefly tinkered with 3D. I hated it.
That looks damn impressive, better than what I could hope to make.
-
I hope to be able to one day. Part of my goal is to take up 3D modeling.

Either that bed is like 4 feet tall or you live in a room with an extremely low ceiling.
But yes, the modeling is quite good, although it doesn't quite overcome my disappointment that you were starting some sort of webcomic or something.

I didn't notice that as odd, but then again, both my brother and sister have very tall beds.
-
This bed is modeled after my own bed, which is quite tall. But the ceiling is also pretty low, now that you mention it. Thankfully the teacher didn't notice.
I'll post the final render when I feel like converting the tif to a jpg, but it's not terribly different aside from a few objects I added. Hoping for an A on this. My chances are pretty good, since I think I'm pretty advanced for a first-time Maya user (most students in the class have prior Maya experience). On the other hand, some of the other projects were amazing.
And then some weren't. One guy, who I suspect may be a mite special, managed to construct a room with furniture that appeared to be rolled out of dough, stairs that were really just steps floating in mid-air, and a lamp literally growing out of the sofa. I so wish I'd saved a picture of that.

It is called surrealism. At least, that should be his excuse. =3 It'd be priceless.

I've tried 3d modeling a couple of times but I've never quite got the hang of it... I can arrange stuff, I just can't actually make stuff. So I only make things if I can find pre-made models. I know it's lazy but it's all I can do at the moment.
p.s. I also thought you were starting a comic...
-
Actually, I am starting a comic. It won't be 3D though, but it will be published in a college newspaper.
And you know what that means...$$.
-
I tried 3D once. I was decent, but it just wasn't as fun as I'd hoped.
Dropped it after that little epiphany.
-
Well, part of me wants to tranfer a few character designs to 3D.

Okay... but this one was all you. >_>
