Title: Tutorial for the new guys!
Post by: QuietStealth on February 04, 2010, 05:36:11 PM
Okay, your just starting off with your first idea. Did you develop through it completely, adding all the twists and tear jerking moments? Or did you just get started with characters and start as you go along?

Not a bad idea, yet not good idea either!

First: Like me I write my story out, just like my manga, adding all the laugh producing handles I can. Doing this lets you stand solid ground on knowing exactly what you want. Know your characters. Memorize personality, hobbies, skills, and looks to stand on those.

Sprites: Making sprites yourself? That can be hard without the proper tools such as photoshop or just plain paint. But know the scale of 144 x 365 to make your basic out-of-battle sprites. If you can get templates and work off the body structure until you got it down. Always remember that nothing is an exact color. If someone has black pants, work around the border into the middle while tinting. This is shadowing, the perfect way to make characters look more realistic.

BattleSprites: Yes, they can get annoying. Just work off a template like I do from Little Fighter 2! An AMAZING way to create you battle characters, as hard as it looks. You just need to add time and effort. Unfortunatly I forgot the scale to Battle characters.

Well, hopefully if I don't get scorned for a bad tutorial, seeing as I'm not to good at teaching, I'll make another. But hope it helped...

Just a question, You kinda say yourself that this is a tutorial.
Shouldn't you have posted it in the Tutorial section?
