I just got past disc one and the game had a total turnover. What the hell just happened?

I just got past disc one and the game had a total turnover. What the hell just happened?
Money ran out.

I hear they wanted to ake just one disk but the men in suits were like "Screw 'dis, JRPGs with two o' mo' disk sell betta, yo." and then the developers kinda of made everything past that point half-assed as to piss them off.

Yeah... Well, for mental me the game kinda ended badly at disc one with the whole *boom* stuff. Not that toher overhyped **** that made absolutely no sense.
Second disc felt like some kind of lame sequel.
I'm done with the game though, a big chunk of videogame history.

The breaking point in Xenogears for me was when they talked about how they were going to destroy an enemy base thing that had a cannon that could shoot doomsday lasers every .8 seconds or something, and they were going to do it by tying two of their ships together somehow to survive the attack. They talked about this crazy plan for like 45 minutes or something in the game and all this time I was thinking "wow, this is going to be so baddass" ... and then all we saw of the attack was a grainy video about 5 seconds long that didn't even show anything.
I turned the game off and never looked back.

XD!!! Wow... just... wow... now I am definitely away from this game.

No the worst part was the interlude of disc two where you find out from a storyteller that the "enemy" town's capital building was in fact a part of a giant gear and they simply let you take it, fuse it into this huge thing, let you defeat some huge enemy weapon(all you have to do is use a special attack) and then you don't even use it any more.
It wasn't enough that your sandcruiser became a submarine and then an airship, then it had to become the sword of a giant robot...
