That's actually being made?!

I spy a "WTF" title...
Feb 27 Birdemic: Shock and Terror

It's all speculation, but there's enough to believe it may actually happen. Apparently Blomkamp said he wanted to do it.

That would be bad-*** I hope it's awesome. I know Peter said he was working on the Hobbit.

District 9 was the ****!! :D
-
I forgot they were making the hobbit. That's going to be pretty sweet.
Anyone hear about the pukefest that it'll be the new spiderman? Is justin bieber really going to be the new spiderman? Cuz that's really awful.
-
District 9 was terrible.

Where did you hear that? Please tell me it's a joke or something. Please!
-
I can't believe they're rebooting the Spider-Man series...but apparently Sam Raimi ducked out of doing a fourth, so I guess they have to. New director, new actors, everything. Ridiculous...the first only came out eight years ago.
-
District 9 was terrible.
Well sir, while I disagree with what you say I'll defend to the death your right to say it.
-
Oh, I forgot to mention.
TRONTRONTRONTRONTRONTRONTRONTRONTRON.
-
District 9 was terrible.
I know, right? Complete ripoff of Avatar.
-
Marmaduke looks amazing.
-
Google it cerebus, its really so awful.
And I didn't like district 9 at first for a few good reasons, but it grew on me.
-
I thought it just went nowhere fast. The main character was an insufferable *** I couldn't bear to watch, the villains were so despicably evil it was like watching a Disney cartoon, and all metaphors were so laid out it would take a moron to not see it. The action scenes were way cool, but not worth and hour and a half of bore.
Also, the robot looks JUST like the mechs the Gloft used in Megas XLR. Like, to the point when I first saw this, http://wakingbadger.com/fileShare/imageShare/movies/district9-4.jpg (http://wakingbadger.com/fileShare/imageShare/movies/district9-4.jpg) I thought it was a Megas movie.
-
Your right, it does XD. But alas, they would never make anything near that awesome.
-
I loved that show. Too bad it was so short-lived.
-
I think the main character not being a hero was part of why it was good. He wasn't really evil per se, he was a cog in the machine, kind of like all those Nazi war criminals who insisted they were "just following orders." And boy howdy, does he get his comeuppance.
Don't you ever get tired of the main character being a noble do-gooder from start to finish? Isn't it more fun for him to be a selfish, bumbling everyman who everyone thinks has a perversion for giant grasshoppers?
-
I totally love selfish, self absorbed, completely lost, cowardly assholes for the main character. The main character, however, was just annoying.
-
Anti-heroes are awesome. However, I haven't seen the film, and your description doesn't sound like that of an anti-hero. I assume that he's not one.
-
He was annoying, I'll give you that much. But as much as I hate him, I love him for it. He's believable. All his actions are (I think) pretty spot on about how most people would handle the situation. For instance, when Christopher tells him he'll have to wait three years before he can do anything for him. Wicus freaks out and acts on impulse. Of course he's not gonna be able to drive the spaceship millions of light-years to some alien planet and convince the inhabitants their to "fix" him and not kill him and invade Earth. But he's scared shitless and isn't thinking rational. I hate it because it's such a dumb move on his part and is really frustrating to watch, but I love it 'cuz it's true how terribly selfish and animalistic most people really are.
Maybe I'm looking too into this, but hell, I liked the movie alot. Even with its discrepancies, and I know there's a lot of them.
EDIT: One thing that really bothered me was how the **** did wicus know what Christopher was saying? And why the **** is the alien's name Christopher? XD I never quite got that.
-
Maybe Wicus knows it roughly. The Aliens had been around for 20 years after all; the alien researchers must've made some progress in that time span.
I found Wicus annoying up until he began mutating. Then everything he did pretty much made a bit of sense. Except ditching Christopher after they get freed by the antagonists that are fighting against the other antagonists (so that the alien and the not entirely antagonist human can escape) . Dude, the guy can fix you. Why are you leaving him behind. I guess he redeems himself by beating crap up in a Mech later on so that he can escape, so whatever.
-
I think he's named Christopher because that's what people named him. The whole thing is an allegory for apartheid and racism. Giving aliens human names, like "slave names," is an effort to force them to conform to your culture.
-
I didn't enjoy District 9 very much. I found it interesting at the beginning, but then when it became more of an action movie I sort of lost interest. After a certain point the action became ridiculous. Also, I found the main character utterly unlikeable (even for an anti-hero) and most of the other characters underdeveloped.
-
One of my biggest problems was it tried to create this allusion to apartheid, but for christs sake, they BILLED it as apartheid. WHICH IS NO LONGER LEGALLY UPHELD. It seemed pointless.
