Okay, I've been wanting to do this sooner, but. ModNation Racers. Play, Create, Share. On PS3 and PSP.
It's basically Mario Kart, but with your own characters (mods), karts and tracks. To say it better, you create your own characters, called mods, to race in your own karts on your own tracks. Basically LittleBigPlanet for racing games. But it's something most Playstation users know about.
Anyway, what did you guys create?
Here's my kart, the Charas.EX Mk. I:

It's available as a download.

You creat your own mod own character own track so you basicially make the game to play it instead of just being able to play.

heard of it before

Out of nowhere.

Sweet Charas ride. I do wish I could play this game, but I haven't owned a Sony product since the original Playstation. I don't have anything against them, it's just turned out that way.
-
Meh. I don't have a ps3 anymore. I got myself a 360.
The game looks good, though.
-
I disagree personally, Lucas. I sometimes get games simply for the customization. I keep getting wrestling games cause of how awesome the customization is.
-
Meh. I love customization. I got Soul Calibur just so I could fight with my own dudes, and I do Brawl skins all the time. But on ModNation Racers, it doesn't makes the game much better.
I love soul calibur 4.
I've made characters from Golden Sun, Star Wars, Final Fantisy, and Chrono Trigger. :3

Lucas, just because Mario Kart is great doesn't mean another kart racer can't exist that's also fun. It's the same as with any other genre. The customization is what makes this game stand out. The draw is that you can finally make your dream course, and you can play it with your friends. As far as I'm concerned, that's what would make it better than Mario Kart for me. Blue Shells are fun and ****, but I'd rather just drive around on something I built. Look at Halo: The game isn't the best FPS of all time, but it's always had a fairly deep set of customizable rules and game modes that help keep it fresh over the years. Halo 3 is perhaps the best example, since you have the most sophisticated set of options yet, as well as a level editor. People like building the game to suit their needs. If the default game isn't exactly what they envisioned, changing things makes it more appealing. On top of that, always having something new to do keeps the entertainment value hanging around. Mario Kart Wii sits on my shelf, gathering dust. I've done all I can do, and the gameplay has always had over-powered items that make staying in first pointless until the last lap. Halo, despite being bumped way down my FPS fun list, still gets a big amount of usage. It's all in the customization. I know Halo and Mario Kart might not be the best examples for comparison, but keep in mind that I'm talking about their settings and options, not their gameplay styles. Also, I don't have many better examples.

Downloaded the Demo (PSP) but couldn't customize anything but a race track, and even then I couldn't manage to make anything other than a 0 Race track. Guess I could've spent more time trying to figure out the control, but... yeah, I'm that lazy some times. Pressing buttons is hard and all, you know. I also don't know what most weapons do. Again, if I had tried it fore more than one race, I could've learned a bit... oh well.
I guess I'll have to try the full game. I love customisation and the demo didn't have much to customize. Actually, it had nothing but the 0 race track. But it seems like an interesting game.
Also, I agree that customisation usually make a game better. I love creating characters, maps, etc. Except when it takes way too long, I'm lazy, yeah. And I hate when the limit prevents you from making the awesome map you had in mind... damn you, TimeSplitters 3! But anyway, yeah, I love customization.

Mario Kart Wii still sucks balls though. Sometimes the powerups in ModNation Racers remind me of why I really hate Mario Kart Wii, only MNR compensates it with complete customization and a shield you can activate as long as you have boost.
Anyway, here are some simple mods I created.

Bas the Teddybear
The latter also has a matching car, the Basmobile:

(http://www.multiverseworks.com/garycxjkrandomstuff/mnr_basmobile_2_thumb.jpg) (http://www.multiverseworks.com/garycxjkrandomstuff/mnr_basmobile_2.jpg)
(http://www.multiverseworks.com/garycxjkrandomstuff/mnr_basmobile_3_thumb.jpg) (http://www.multiverseworks.com/garycxjkrandomstuff/mnr_basmobile_3.jpg)
Also, the full version of MNR on PSP doesn't give you the complete experience the PS3 version gives, seeing as you can't even place stickers on the mods, something that pretty much makes complete customization possible.
