I do. Let's talk pointless things about it here.
-
Yes, yes, yes and yes!
Favourite game ever. Stacked up over 400 hours play time! Here's a list of fun things to try:
1. Try and get a moonshot with the Sandman by hitting the ball upwards and letting it land on an enemy backwards.
2. Try deflecting arrows at other enemies as the Pyro.
3. If a Demoknight runs at you with a sword and targe and you're an Engineer, building a dispenser in fron of you causes his charge to stray off at an angle so you can murder him!
That was a pretty short list. But yeah, what's your favourite class? I love Medic and Pyro!
-
My favorite class? Spy.
...
Yeah, I'm usually useless to my team. That's why while my favorite class is Spy, I have over twice the ammount of hours as an Engineer. Third favorite class is Pyro. Least favorite is Scout.
I love Spy's Cloak 'n' Dagger and the fact I can sit around behind enemies lines and they won't even know it until I kill them. Or die by a stray rocket, which is embarassingly common.
BTW, I don't have anyone in my friends list, so come on people, let's all be friends.
-
I actually never played this game or the first one
Noticeable. Pyros are well known for being the easiest class to use since you don't really need to aim with them.
-
I'd like to get the game, but my computer is so great it would probably be barely playable. I'll wait until I can get a computer upgrade and maybe I'll give it a try, considering the various positive things I've and lack of negative I've heard about it.
-
I've always wondered...
was there even a first Team Fortress? Like, really.
-

Totally obvious.
Anyways, I'm an unstoppable Heavy, but I barely play as one. Too easy. I end up spending most of my time as a Soldier or a Medic, since I'm both awesome at playing them, and my team usually needs them (well, the Medic, anyway). I used to be a fantastic Spy, but after being inactive for so long, I've fallen into a rut. Not too bad at the other classes, either. Not a great Sniper, but I can at least manage to be useful. I prefer five-point neutral CP maps. I don't like being stuck on purely attack or defense; it hampers my play-style. I'm pretty good, I think. I spend a lot of time in the top part of the scoreboard.
I've always wondered...

Yeah, there was. Why would there be a Team Fortress 2 if there wasn't a first instrument? For the sake of Valve-continuity, we'll say Team Fortress Classic is the "first" game, but I believe it was originally a mod for Quake. There were a lot of "fortress" mods coming out at the time, many of which involved the original team. Valve bought those guys up, let them build a retail version on their engine, and had them start work on a sequel. It took them forever, and everyone thought it was doomed to be vaporware. It released, and quickly became one of the most popular PC multiplayer FPSes.
History lesson's done.
-
I thought the first team fortress was a mod thingy for Half life. I have a slight memory of there being a screen where I could play some ricochet, desperado or team fortress mode.
-
I am weird, and play too much scout. I play soldier like I jus don't care, and play a weirdly defensive pyro, trying to deflect rockets and putting out anyone I find on fire. Speaking of scout, there are certainly several times where I've hopped over heavies just to shotgun them several times in the head and kill them.
Zuhane's tip about blocking a demoknight with a dispenser reminds me of a time where I actually managed to kill one with the scattergun right as he was about to hit me.
-

Oh no, no, no! It takes a noob to run forward and hold M1, which can easily be stopped.
It takes skill to deflect grenades, rockets, jarate, flares and arrows, extinguish team mates, save sentries from stickies and
grenades, hit people at long distance with the Flare gun by predicting their movement patterns, and airblast people up, flare gun them,
then axtinuguish them! That takes skill! :p

Call me a noob. I use the Backburner.
-
Backburner sucks. What'cha gonna do when an uber duo goes charging towards you and your team? :]]
-
Wait until the uber is over and ambush the Heavy from behind.
-
This should be able to tell you if you can play... Pretty much any PC game you plan on getting. (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri)

Air juggling and an insta-kill weapon doesn't take skill. Really, there's nothing about the Pyro that takes skill.
**** yeah. Minum settings match. Except fo the CPU speed, but its just a lil bit behind. And my video card fails on most "Recommended" settings. x]
It's hard not to be able to run the game. There are so many tweaks and custom model packs out there that you can get it running on almost anything. As the joke goes, you can run it on a toaster. And hey, worst-case scenario, you get a cheap graphics card, and go to town. A card that can run this game costs about as much as the game itself.
-
I fail 2 of the Recommended Settings, but pass everything for the Minimum.
However, there are few games in which I supposedly have all minimum requirements, yet lag like hell (because everyone knows hell is a lagging place) which isn't really fun. But I might give it a try... the worst I could get would be not being able to play right now. I'll see about this.
-
Like I said, there are so many ways to improve performance, you might be able to fly by with less that minimum requirements.
-
I disagree with you, Archem. I think the Pyro's the hardest class to play if played properly.
-
That makes no sense at all.
-

Just so you know, you'll lag a lot then. I do, and my settings are above minimum. There are a few commands to reduce this, but in some stages there is no helping it.
-
That makes no sense at all.
Go on then, what class do you play? Let's see if I can find a flaw in it :P
-
He must play one of the following:
A: Spy, and keeps dying to Pyros, ergo hating them, and claiming they require no skill!
B: Sniper, and keeps killing Pyros because they can't hurt him in any way, therefore deducing they have no element of skill!
C: Engineer, and does nothing but build things and therefore has no concept of what or how to aim a gun and therefore has no idea what pyros even do!
D: Pyro, and actually got 3498563 kills by some great chance, while also only having played the class for 3 hours!
E: Clarinet.
-

You should read more. I already mentioned that I play pretty much everything, except that I leave Sniper, Engineer, and Pyro in the corner. Two out of three are a camper's delight, and Pyros fall into the same area as Heavies: Too damn easy.

I concur!

My computer falls well above the recommended specs but TF2 still does not work because the manufacturer decided to make the motherboard use a chipset that hates the Source engine.
JARATE PARTY
-
JARATE PARTY
I'm pissed with that weapon.
-
It gets me wet.
Trust me, it's a sex pun.
-
I'm pissed with that weapon.
I don't follow y...oh, wait...
...I see what you did there.
I'd love to play this game, but the one laptop that I CAN run TF2 on isn't the one I use to run around. Even if I were to download it from Steam, I don't have internet at home.
-
It's a good game apart from the constant lag spikes and the Force-a-nature.
I'd give it 100% if they didn't exist! :D
-
Lag spikes? Sounds like a problem on your end, buddy.
But yeah, the FaN is majorly broken. Always has been.
-
You guys think so? Most people on Gamefaqs seem to agree it's underpowered.
-
I think they balance out. The FaN is good one-on-one, really great for ambushing, since it actually does much higher damage at point-blank and fires very rapidly. It carries less rounds, though, and is really awkward to try and attack with from midair, so it is really crappy for a big brawl.
-
If you have any idea how to use it, you're a god. Trust me, I know.
-
Or very annoying :p
What are people's favourite weapons then?
Gotta love the Ubersaw, Flare Gun and Buff Banner!
-
Le Backstab.
-
Direct Hit. In the hands of an accurate Soldier, it's pretty brutal.
For the record, I'm a pretty accurate Soldier. Not quite air shot accurate (yet), but accurate.
-
I have it. I'm just saving up for a PC that can handle it.
-
Get something relatively cheap. A basic computer nowadays and a graphics card from sometime over the last five years will be just fine. It shouldn't cost you much at all.
-
I love Valve.
-
BTW, I don't have anyone in my friends list, so come on people, let's all be friends.
Assuming you play on PC, add me. Just click my sig to get to my profile.
-
Assuming you play on PC
Oh shits, that's right. There are console versions.
I feel pretty sorry for anyone stuck playing it there.
-
One of my bastard classmates got a gold wrench. While I was playing.
-
Why would anyone even contemplate playing it on a console?
-
Because they suck at computers.
-
The first time I played a game on a PC, I was overwhelmed. "Press F4 + Alt + P + Num Lock to attack". But
once you get used to PC controls, you have everything you could ever need at your fingertips!
-
I already added Hobo. People, gimme your profiles. for friendship!
-
The guy who invented the banned idling program got a golden wrench. Ha. Ha. Ha.
-
Engineer Update!!!! Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The day hath finally arrived!!!!!
-
Not yet, it hasn't!

I meant the announcement days!
-
I have it, but my computer's too crap to play it. Good thing I'm getting a new one :D

We're gonna get a guitar weapon! :D

Taunt.
Also, Valve have VAC banned 8 people who got wrenches. 6 are presumed innocent.
-
Actually on one private server, I somehow witnessed 3 people get golden wrenches in rapid succession. It confused everyone.
Also, dangit fellas, why do y'all have to be so not american!? My server speeds suck! < >:( >
-
Taunt kill, most likely.

Yeah, last game you had ping 300 or something.
Also, the messages appear to everyone in every server, not just the one they are playing.
-
But the only weapon left is the Southern Hospitality which is that wrench with the spikes at the bottom of the update page.
Where the guitar is coming from I've no idea. I'm more concerned with Engineers being able to move their buildings now.
-
I just tried it. Absolutely awful. My team had 11 Engineers. I think I'll wait this one out for a little bit!
-
The Southern Hospitality does bleeding damage.
-
The update technically goes live in about a week, when people realise that other classes exist.
-
Play demo. :~
-
I'm going Spy.
Spah sappyin mah- Spy sapping M- Spy Sapp- Spy Sapp- !!!
-
You should go Demoman! One right-click and:
Zuhane (*) Sentry Gun (James)
Zuhane (*) Teleporter Exit (James)
Zuhane (*) Dispenser (James)
Zuhane (*) Sentry Gun (Bob)
Zuhane (*) Sentry Gun (Fred)
Zuhane (*) Dispenser (Fred)

My guess it's got to do with the new shotgun, as it could easily have a new taunt.
-
Dominate me, will you Mister Bluhman? But who's laughing now?! EH?! EH?11
Edit, the guitar is a new taunt, I've seen it. The engie plays an air guitar then pretens to smash it on someone's head, and it becomes a real guitar. In fact half my team just now was spamming it at doors in hopes to get the achievement.
-
The guitar is real, your graphics aren't working right, not showing the model except for the gibs.
-

I'm not surprised. The Sniper's rifle is invisible to me as well, so it always seems like they are killing me with imaginary guns.
