And the plan was to download games. Yepp, in a not-so-very-legal way.
But it turns out that the model and version of the psp i bought kinda stopped me. A PSP 3004 with version 5.51. It was a dead end. No one knows how to de-grade it so I can install that there custom firmware that allows me to play the downloaded games.
Yeah, go me.
But that doesn't matter now. I bought myself Tekken 6 and a PSN voucher with credits and got FFIX for 11$. But the question is, what am I supposed to do with the remaining 14$?
Anyone with some good advice either for PS3 or PSP?
Also, what games are worth getting for this brick'majing?

-Me and My Katamari
-Little Big Planet
-Fat Princess
-Blazblue
Just to name what's on mine.

Lumines! Makes Tetris look like coke compared to heroin on the addiction scale!
-
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite! So you can hunt on the go. Also, MGS: Peace Walker is amazing, it's got the production qualities of a console game.
-
Disgaea, Disgaea 2 and Disgaea: Infinite.
Though Infinite is less of an SRPG and more of a Graphic novel, and fairly short. Still, you're getting it for free, so yeah.

Dissidia, LBP

Because you are running a PSP3000 you can not install a custom firm-ware on to the motherboard, and your system version is too high to do the chickhen approach to running homebrew (That's the method I've used.), but you still have the ability to run what's called the "Half-byte loader" which uses a corrupt save for the Patapon 2 demo to enable homebrew, so long as your system firmware is not *very* latest. (They fixed it in the last couple of days.) I'm not sure what the capabilities are, but I'm guessing you could probably still run Homebrew emulators, which is a great thing, because there are a ton of great ones for the PSP.
How did you get it by the way? You could always try to take it back, and try again at a used game store.

****! Why did I forget abotu Disgaea? Forget everything, Purple. Just get the Disgaea games. They're the most deep, intense
RPG games you'll ever play. I've spent over 700 hours on Disgaea 1, Disgaea DS and Disgaea 3 combined!

nerrdddddd
Seriously though I never saw the appeal in the Disgaea games. Extremely grindy, repetitive SRPG with voice acting that causes nausea. Woo

I absolutely LOVE them. Just the fact that they've animated over 40 character sprites just in the first game for walking in all 4 directions, throwing, using
guns, axes, swords, spears, etc and using special attacks is something to respect. I saw the sprite sheets for the first game, which just included
playable characters, and there's about 1000 hand-drawn images or something ridiculous to form every movement for every character.
Each story character than has, like, 5 character-based special attacks with their own completely separate animations. Then they can learn about 80 other
special attacks from weapons and about 20 from magic spells. Then there's all the monsters you can train and steal which can all learn 4 special attacks each:
Zombies- They can use Zombie gattling guns or Zombie puke.
Celestial dragons- They can use pillars of light to attack enemies.
Manticores- Can fire huge beams out.
Water serpents- Can freeze huge areas with plasma breath and destroy tonnes of enemies at once.
Then there's about 15 other monsters. Loads of classes such as ninjas, majins, samurai, brawlers, thieves, etc. All characters can reach level 9999 and you can
store up to 140 characters. You can even level up weapons, modify them in insane ways, reincarnate characters into new bodies but keep stats and reach 9999
again becoming extremely powerful, pass court bills to get stronger enemies and alternative netherworlds, kill the judges if they disagree and just miles more.
Not only is this game a stupidly engrossing RPG with great characters, the puzzles and battles involve great amounts of planning and thinking.
This game beats every other grid-based RPG in the world without breaking a sweat. I can't recommend this game enough.
And THIS game makes me want a PS3. Disgaea 3:

When I had a PS3, Disgaea 3= the best game evah. It was the only Disgaea game I have had, and it was awesome.
-
I enjoyed Disgaea DS, but all the grinding was horrendous. It would be fine if the battles were random, but instead, I'm fighting the same fights endlessly. In the end, I never finished the game because of all the grinding I had to do. What a shame, it was really enjoyable.

I agree with X_marks_the_ed on Fat Princess it was "amusing"

Yeah, Fat Princess. Though the PS3 version has some better things than PSP's (Ex: 32 Players instead of 24, All players can be Human while on PSP only 4 can be... and it seems I can't use the catapult to throw bombs, they'll just stay there unlike on the PS3) but the best thing is... it's portable! And there are more levels than on PS3. The Story's longer too, but I only did it to unlock things.
Oh and yeah, for some reason, they decided not to put the players stats (ex: total kills/deaths, things unlocked, etc.)
Other than that, well, I liked the GTA's, Little Big Planet (though the lack of multiplayer sucks, but it's still a pretty good game) I enjoyed Dungeon Siege: Throne of Agony, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Star Wars: Battlefront - Elite Squadron (haven't tried Renegade(controls aren't as good as PS2's or such, though)) and err... other that don't come to mind.
Also, if anyone has it, I'd like to know if Phantasy Star Portable is any good.
-
By the way, I wouldn't reccomend MGS: Portable Ops at all. Peace Walker is goddamn amazing, but Portable Ops is significantly less fun, and the controls are ****ing terrible.
-
So... Right now I'm thinking about spending those last credits on either FF7, FF8 or Resident evil 5 gold(or something).
Opinions?
-
FF7, FF8 or Resident Evil 5 gold?
Disgaea.
-
Because Disgaea is as cheap as a PS1 classics range game!!
