Ok so what did you guys want to be when you were young and foolis? Myself well I wanted to be a musician, travel the World play shows etc.
I even released a demo with my band when I was 14. Sadly that dream fell through and I stopped playing for years until last year when I finally started playing with a new band again but it has recently fell thorugh alsol.
Did you all fail on your childhood dreams (like I am currently am) or are you "achieving" them, since I'm gonna guess most of us are between 16-30 (Fairly young) someone has to be working towards their "dream".
Edit: Sorry if this has been posted before.

Punctuation is king, my friend.
Seriously, I have a really, really hard time reading your text 90% of the time.
Anyways, I've always wanted to make things.
It kind of evolved from engineer, to inventor, to artist, to graphic designer, to game programmer, to game designer.
Weird progression, actually.
And...I guess you could say that I'm "living my dream".
I'm doing what I love to do, but nobody really pays attention to me.
Probably because of my history of abandoning things due to the insane rush of ideas that I have.

I'll go back and use punctaution, sorry it was like 6 A.M. and I havn't slept in a while.
Abandoning things due to a rush of ideas I know that feeling all too well.

When I was like, 10, I said I wanted to be a bus driver... yeah... not living that dream by choice...
-
I wanted to be a paleontologist!
Seriously, didn't everyone?
This sort of dies down after you realise that digging up fossils all day is not fun, and most of the dinosaurs have already been discovered.
-
Nothing. I've always just flowed from one thing to the next, and I've never planned a thing. It hasn't exactly worked out so well.
-
I wanted to be many thing as a kid. But after 10 or so, when i picked up drawing, I wanted to be some sort of artist. Today, I am graphic designer. Beats the odds.
I still want to be astronaut though.
-
I wanted to be an artist. But I never got any better, and nowadays anyone with Photoshop can make better crap than I could.
So I'm working towards computer internals and programming.
-
At first I wanted to create. Mostly games, 'cuz it would be neat if people played my games.
Then around 2003 I found RPGM and it was ace. I could make my own games, try some ideas and all that. A dream coming true.
But that's also when I realised how hard and time-consuming it is to make games. Damn.
After that I've pretty much left the creator-dream. Like Ed mentioned earlier here. I can do well, but with today's tools all it takes is a tutorial and anyone can do as well/better than an artist with pen and paper.
And a lack humour ruined comic strip career.
Nowdays I want to help and teach people. If someone needs help with something I want to help out, if someone needs to learn how to do something - I'll lend a hand. If I know a lot of stuff, why not share it?
Therefore I'm thinking about becoming a teacher and at least try to pass on some of my knowledge to the kids who will **** up the future.
-
I wanted to own fair rides.
Now I'm gonna be a biomedical scientist!
-
I'm still pretty much a kid, so I have had a couple "dreams" in the past few years. Actor, author, screenwriter, game creator, director, and for about a week, a Lego designer-guy-person.
-
I went through phases. Major ones were...figure skater, ballerina, architect, ice cream truck driver, veterinarian, singer, and game designer. But kinda through the whole thing was film acting...so...yeah that one won.

XD!!! I wanted to be an astronaut too... then a cop... then before that a Ninja Turtle.

My childhood dream was to be an Artist, professional, full time.
Im applying for a grant right now. Ill know by mid september if I got it...and if so, well, uh, yeah I guess I made it. If not....then theres always next term.
-
When I was a kid, I had no clue.
Now, I still have no clue.
Actually, I'd like to work in Politic and lead my Nation as a dictator so it can stop failing... but this will never happen.
One thing I'd really like, though, is have my name on the dictionary and/or Wikipedia, whether for good reasons or bad ones. Good would be better, of course, but it's harder to achieve.

way to aim high, buddy

Make some youtube videos that cause hundreds of basement dwelling Anon to attack you you'll be on Wikipedia in no time or at least Dramatica.
Or you know go the safe route and become really really famous.

Yeah just say you're gonna take 4chan down.

I wanted to drive trains. Yeah. Then I realized that would kind of suck, and I'm pretty sure most trains are run via computer now anyways.
Then there was music. I've always loved music and tried my best at it. I'm still working towards that. It's not much of a dream, but no matter where the audience be or how big, I just want to play music I enjoy. This tactic often leaves people broke, homeless, lonely and unfulfilled.
Besides that, not much. There were random spurts of inspiration when I wanted to be an astrophysicist, biologist, zoologist, archeologist, politician, history major, engineer... blah blah, but those all fell in line down the crap chute. Now I'm struggling to just get my associates in liberal arts.
It's fun how things turn out.
BTW: Asides from a few posts, this thread is depression central.

I used to want to be a scientist when I was younger. Then I wanted to be a Chef. Then I wanted to be a Meteorologist. Then I wanted to be a Crocodile Hunter, than I wanted to be a combination of all of those.
But now I'm striving to be a writer or game designer

Killing few people can work pretty well, depending on the circumstances. But of course, I'm not aiming for this... yet.
Seriously, though, my name on the dictionary would be my dream, I guess. Be remembered in History. A Legend. But that's aiming way too high, indeed.
I'm currently working my way toward a scientific career, though I'm at the very beginning of the stair, and I have this bad habit of seeing how long the stair is before climbing it. I have a long way to go. Can't say it's my dream, since I'm always unsure, but I do like science. And I could find a cure to many current un-curable diseases/virus and have my name on the dictionary!
Politic also interest me, but I doubt it's for me. I'll see what the future reserve for me.

You could always discover a disease and have it named after you, but basicially what I get from your post is that you want to be immortal in someway too always be remembered?

I'm thinking of moving to Miami and becoming a blood spatter analyst. Any comments? :P
-
I'm... not sure what I wanted to be as a kid. Nowadays I want to be a translator, though.

Watch out for the testosterone fueled, ex-special ops, buff ***, black dude.
-
Train driver. Now I know that trains can be easily turned obsolete by a simple invention that I am now working on.
-
I wanted to be a teacher. Then a musician.
This fall I am going to college as a music education major. =D With that degree, I will be able to teach k-12 in pretty much any state since my state is a leader in teaching teachers.
I plan on adding a double major of 'music theory and composition', masters in oboe performance, and doctorate in music theory and composition... but that's far away and 10 years of college. =P
-
I'm studying humanities and hope to teach English overseas, probably in Indonesia because I speak the language well.
Although, I'm so depressed, lazy and worried all the time I probably won't get anywhere and will an hero a few years from now.
-

I will do! I just want to settle down and meet a nice British girl who's an artist.
-
Train engineer or a submarine commander.
-
I wanted to be a detective. I kind of still do, but I've gone too far from the DETECTAN path with my academic choices.
I'm hoping to get into something creative, which is a problem because I have zero creative talent.
-
I wanted to be the next Jimi Hendrix, but I'm not black, and I don't smoke pot. I only eat mushrooms. /:
