I know there aren't too many people on here that can actually make nice title screens, but I hope someone can help me out.
I need someone to make a title screen that has my main character clashing swords with the main villain, with the name of the game (CIRCLE OF 13) in the clash of the swords.
Before I post my charsets, I need to know if anyone could PLEASE do this.
-
I'm feeling daring. I'll give it a shot.
If you could just scribble something in MS Paint with stick figures to show the positioning of the characters, that'd be great too. Unless you want me to take some creative liberties.
-
Here's my basic idea. You have a lot of room to play around with it, so feel free!

And here are the charsets of the main char and bad guy, just for a reference

Okay, can I also have the ages of the characters?
-
Main character is roughly 25, main villain is roughly around 32.
-
One last thing, can't believe I forgot to ask this. In what time period is this set? I ask because it'll obviously have bearing on what I do with the background.
-
Good point. It is straight up medieval.
-
Good ol' Valiere! Always making really good things and stuff! :P
-
I feel like a kid the day before Christmas, I'm so excited
-
It's coming along nicely. Just to be sure, does the villain have long hair? It's difficult to tell from the charset, and in your MS Paint doodle, it appears to be long. Thought I'd check.
-
Oh, yea, He does. It's kinda hanging behind his back in the charset.
-
I decided to change the positioning of the characters because I thought it would be more dramatic to see the hero's face.
This pic lost a lot in the transition to indexed color. I'll just have to know not to go as wild with the colors next time.
Let me know if it's too dark or if anything else needs to be fixed.

No, I did remember that.
I just chose not to think about it :(
-
It doesn't have to be. If you put the text on the far right of the title screen, and just make it so there is a system graphic that is completely transparent except the cursor, It should okay.
-
Wow Val, it's better than I even expected. Thank you so much.

Could you explain this a little better? It doesn't cover the hero's face, but it covers the swords clashing.
-
In theory I think it should work, but I've never tried it. Basically, you put the New Game, Continue, and Quit in text over farther on your title screen graphic to the right than normal, then you get rid of the background part of the window in your System graphic, and then you can get rid of all the colors for the text so its transparent as well, but then all you are really left with is the cursor, with should indicate the menu options. You'll have to mess around with the system graphic to get the right cursor look you want, but that should do it.
-
It doesn't seem to work. You get a long cursor that crosses the whole screen.
-
Hm... Like I said, I never tried it, but if you mess with the cursor a bit you might be able to make it smaller. (get rid of most of the graphic and then have a little on the right side?)
You might be able to get something, but I don't think its going to be perfectly what you want.
-
if I remember right, there is a patch out there somewhere that will let you bypass the title screen...In which case a guy could build a custom one

I've tried it. It's quite buggy and crashes. Or at least the version I found.
-
You could also just crop the pic with some black bars on the top and bottom of the screen to move the action-y parts to some place where they won't be obscured.
-
I'm not quite sure what you mean Val. You mean like putting a black frame around it?
-
Is it even possible to get the menu to appear clear so that it will show the background behind it?

I just tried what I suggested but it didn't help much. Never mind.
-
I managed to find a program that allows you to change where the actual box appears, but unless I can get it to be transparent, it will look off.
-
It's kinda tempting to claim to need something just so Val will draw me a cool picture.

So am I.
Actually you probally just decrease or in this case increase the color to 256 without really hurting the picture if thats needed.
Although it is a really good drawing I like it : )
-
Yea, I'd rather not alter it at all, if possible. I'm looking into possibly creating a custom title screen, but the problem is I'm not sure how to load a saved game from a map setting. If I can't, I'll have to settle with the box covering a bit of the characters :(
-
Wow, Valiere. Very skillful.
It's also really nice of you to produce such quality work for a stranger at a mere request. I thank you, myself.
-
Val's just that awesome.
