Title: The Amazing Self-fixing Machine
Post by: Grandy on October 01, 2010, 04:19:56 PM
Some of you may be aware that for over a year my Wii was broken. Oh, I could use it for practical stuff, but not play with it.
Then today I went to see a specialist and told him the problem, he grabbed my Wii, looked at it from all angles and inside, and said it seemed fine. Then we tested it right there and then, and it worked! Once, twice, all games we could think of worked with my Wii.
Then I tested it again at home and am in fact using it as I write. It's amazing. And saved me a good chunk of money.

For extra fun: re-read the above but change Wii for Penis.

I like percussive maintenance - kicking, dropping or chucking out the window.

I'm hoping that my PS2 will do that since PS1 and 2 games doesn't work the EU PS3.

PS1 games can be played on all PS3s though

Too bad I didn't knew that before I downloaded FFIX and FFVII to the PS3 since those are the only two PS1 games I still own.
But hey, I did put 'em in my PSP as well so no harm done. Always nice to have 'em portable.

Question: How exactly do PS games that used L2 and R2 work on a handheld with only the equivalent of L1 and R1?

There's a few options. Commonly used one is to map them to the analog nub thing. I prefer to find out which of the shoulder sets is redundant and just unbind it entirely.

Press left on analog stick=L2, right=R2, and up=R2+L2.

So it's like using the C-Stick on a GameCube controller for N64 games ported to Wii (or my beloved Zelda Collection disc for the GameCube). Seems reasonable.

Yepp, just like that.
Although a lot of PS1 games don't use the L2 and R2. Like the final fantasy games, so you don't really think about it much.

So far, the only game that doesn't really work on PSP for me is Ape Escape (major bummage ensued). There's a remake for it, but it just doesn't have the feeling or nostalgia of the original.

Back on topic, I had my old Windows 98 computer do the same thing recently, kept shutting itself down, but today it ran for a good five hours before I shut it down myself.

Why would you use a Win98?
Shouldn't that thing be a coffee table or something by now?
