SO.
Been a while since this was posted. Or I just didn't post in the last one so it feels even longer.
Lately, I've been diggin Senses Fails hardcore. Apparently there's a new album I haven't gotten at. Love all their albums, "Still Searching" is all I've been listening to lately.
Other bands of recent and old lingering interest:
Very well known:
Streetlight Manifesto
NOFX
The Devil Wears Prada
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Underoath
Fairly well known:
Andrew Jackson Jihad
Gogol Bordello
Matt and Kim
Monsters of Folk
FUN (was formerly, "The Format")
Lesser Known:
Fatter Than Albert
Coffee Project
Tokyo Ska Paradise
Local favorites:
Defeater
Flaming Tsunamis
Arrogant Sons of Bitches
Public Access
Brunt of It
So yeah. What have you been puttin in your ears?
-
I just read your list and have to let you know that I haven't even heard the names of those bands.
-
You haven't?
Huh.
I've been listening to the serene sound of silence.
And assorted stuff from the 8-Bit Collective (http://8bc.org).
ed:
Mainly the non-unce stuff from this (http://8bc.org/members/Kosmopop2/) guy.
R is for Rocket and #808080 are really good.

Also Frank Zappa. A lot of it.

I'm a bit of a hipster =X Meaning I listen to semi-obscure bands.
I'm surprised you haven't heard of atleast a few of those bands though. I reorganize 'em by how popular I think they are.

You know who else is a hipster?

I haven't really been exploring new music much lately; been sticking to what I know. What I'm liking a lot at the moment is:
Steve Hackett
White Stripes
Bjork
Radiohead
Oceansize
Yoko Kanno (Her 'song to fly' album. Man that's amazing)
Metallica
Rolo Tomassi
-
I'm listening to the OBC of Ragtime.
-
Aw, I was hoping this was a "what are you listening to RIGHT NOW" thread.
My answer would have been: Trisection from Final Fantasy Tactics.
-
Deep Purple
Jimi Hendrix
Rolling Stones
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Pink Floyd
Cream
Random video game soundtracks

You're only a hipster if you hate EVERYTHING popular and can only enjoy massively obscure stuff, regardless of actual quality. Or that's how I see it.

I find that nothing helps inspiration better than instrumental video game tracks.

STALKER acoustic guitar tracks. All day erry day
-
I've been listening to the Arcanum soundtrack ad-infinitum.
It's very soothing, in a mildly depressing way.
