Title: Charas Game Contest Update
Post by: Ben on January 07, 2011, 08:31:27 AM
So this is a temporary news article...meaning that in about 2 days, it will be removed/junked.

If anyone who wishes to enter the game making contest would like to try Stencyl out
(a new and currently private beta flash-based game making engine with an immensely easy to learn interaface) for the game making contest, reply to this with your email address.

Ive just had a chat with Jon, (Stencyl Final Boss and CEO) and he is gung-ho on getting Stencyl into YOUR hands before Beta goes public. This offer will only be around for a couple of days, and surely this is to be one of the last rounds of invites to use/test the softwere. (It should be noted that despite the private beta status, stencyl is totally useable and rad. Ive made a few games with it myself.

So uh... Yeah. Sign up. As a means of evening the playing field, all contest entrants are okayed to use stencyl, as long as you sign up here so I can forward the list to Bows- uuuh....I mean Jon.

It should be noted that Stencyl is NOT an RPGmaking client. Its a 2-D game development engine.
RPGs are probably about the toughest thing to make on a non-rpg-specific maker. However, A guy can spit out a functional platformer, shooter or whatevs in literally 2 minutes.  SOme folks around here don't share my enthusiasm in regards to Stencyl, but in  my own opinion its probably one of the best engines out there, for 2-D.

Well, its probably the perfect fit for this contest, since anything we do can't have a turn-based system and I sure as hell can't do an ABS.  I had a few ideas, but I think I want to see what I can do in Stencyl first.

It's not really a matter of posts (although, you only having one doesn't bode well), so you might be fine, assuming you actually contribute to the community instead of just leaving two more posts down the road.

Go start a welcome thread in the Test & Welcome section. We'll give you silly welcomes, make you feel at home, and give you a good place to start off.
