Title: Further proof that we're the most infantilized generation
Post by: Valiere on February 13, 2011, 06:02:05 AM
My mom still sends my brother and me Valentine's cards.

Here's what mine looked like (enclosed was $20):

I'm 23.

My brother's 24.

And yes, it's awesome.

My family never did that for me. They wanted me to know that I was unloved.

In high school they'd deliver Candy Grams on Valentine's. I only ever got one, and the card was making fun of me in reference to a rumour someone had started.

</self pity>

You could never pay me to go back to high school.

Awww Archem, here, I got you a nice, brand-new card.

I feel like Charlie Brown. I only get used Valentines, and typically the day after they've been handed out.

Rats.

At least you didn't get a rock.

Parents give kids cards for valentine? Odd, we barely give cards to people we like in this frozen wasteland.

I don't know if it's common for parents to give kids valentines, just that my mom does it for us.

I'm trying to get a dinner date with my ex for tomorrow. So far so good...

Something that none of us on this forum have ever gotten in our lives, clearly. Thinking back, I don't even think I ever got one from my ex. Happy memories, those.

I'll probably get a Valentine from my grandmother because she seems to enjoy sending me cards for literally every occasion (including Halloween), not that I'm complaining. She's about the only one from my family I'm still in contact with, so I <3 her. Even if she treats me like I'm still a child sometimes.  :D

And *Internet hugs* to Arch and Zerl (because I'm too lazy to google a Valentine's card for you guys I care.) And for the record, I was shy/nerdy in high school (still kind of am) and never got candy grams either, though it didn't really bug me that much. I hate Valentine's Day with a passion, although I still buy cards/candy for friends and family.

Since nobody will be home for Valentine's Day tomorrow, my mom gave my sister and I a two-pack Reese's Heart :)

I am easily amused by a rock.  So it wouldn't be something bad to give me.  Even better is coal.

I've always thought that obsidian was kind of a cool rock.

I have some amazing rocks in a box here somewhere. I should give you one of them. This one here is really awesome. Its all white and square. And you can shatter it in as many pieces as you want - all the pieces will be square as well. Its impossible to get it to shatter in any other shape. I love it.

That does sound cool. Send me one.

My daughter is apparently getting me something (or atleast what ever a two year old picks out in the store). I'm gonna find something for my daughter when I get extra money but she just got to spend the whole weekend with me so she is happy. But I'll otherwise be spending V-Day alone...what fun haha. I think I'll go buy myself a pity bag of sweethearts and keep all the ones that say your awesome.

Personally, I think I'll go buy myself some chocolate. Good ol' chocolate. Never shall it betray my love.

I don't like chocolate as much as most people. I mean, it's nice, and I don't mind having a bit of candy every once in a while, but I rarely buy any for myself. Also, it makes my throat burn. So do nuts. Reese's have become a foe after a lifetime of friendship, as have Butterfingers.

I'm not a big fan of nuts/peanut butter. In fact, I HATE peanut butter. Pure milk chocolate is the best for me. Yummy.

In the States, people stare at me like I've got three heads if I tell them that I don't like it. Then again, I've also gotten that look for admitting that I don't like peppers of any type.

I never tried peanut butter. We don't do that here.
Wow, you're missing out. It's pretty awesome stuff.

I like peanut butter, but I haven't eaten any in, like...years.
Unless you count peanut butter cookies.

I'm trying to get a dinner date with my ex for tomorrow. So far so good...

So I asked her out. And she got mad at me.

LIKE WHAT THE EFF.

Anyways, I love peanut butter, but I don't eat if often because I can't stop.

Could it possibly be....because......she's your ex?

That seems pretty irrational...

Yup. There was a Valentine in the mail from my grandma today, AND she spent an hour on the phone with me earlier today asking me to come home. I don't think she grasps the fact that I'm legally an adult. Oh well, she cares. ^^

What an excellent suggestion!

;)

Completely!

...

...

Actually she was just tired and I was poking too much fun at her late in the night and she got pissed at that.

You invite her out to dinner and make fun of her?

Classy.
