Title: Inspector Gadget Minus Gadget
Post by: Grandy on March 04, 2011, 12:34:40 AM
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6MR14mFtIw&feature=related

This goes here and not the YT topic because I wanted to discuss two things:

1.Anyone else ever feels... annoyied is the word, I think, about those shows where one character does everything and the other gets the credit and is supposedly the hero we should be cheering?

I mean, take that video, the guy took Inpector Gadget and removed all scenes with Gadget in them.

The plot still made sense! Gadget is the main character yet he is redundant to his own show! And it wasn't a bad show either.

2.I saw some episodes of an 80s anime, which any japanophile must've at least heard of. Lupin the Third. Seeing it and then seeing Gaget is... well, there is no difference in plot structure, animation or art style, to be quite honest. I started to wonder when did Anime stopped being just "cartoons from the east" and became their own genre, so to say. And vice versa, there are some scenes from Batman the Animated Series where the animation and mood seem straight out of Ozamu Tezuka's blessed arse.

Heh, that was pretty neat.
They still mentioned Gadget a few times though, I thought those parts would be taken out too.

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to be looking at hentai until you're 18, Lucas. :P

Back in the 80s and 90s, some shows actually had their animation outsourced to foreign studios. Yes, even Batman TAS and Inspector Gadget. Other ones I can think of off the top of my head include Animaniacs and even The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog for like one episode. Some foreign animation studios are cheap, but on the flipside, some episodes were done by very high quality studios, like Tokyo Movie Shinsha (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tokyo_Movie_Shinsha), A Japanese animation studio responsible for quite a lot of different animations... Including, wouldn't you know it, the 1st season of Inspector Gadget and Lupin the 3rd. Fancy that.

I find that to be a hilarious question.
