Title: I'm suffering from "post-cool-event-depression"
Post by: Grandy on March 12, 2011, 07:50:25 PM
you know, that thing where you finish a book/movie/whatevs you really like and you start going "Oh man I'll never see these cool characters again D:"

Yeah. I finished Scott Pilgrim. I am depressed.

Then again, not really, since I finished two volumes. I can track down and read the others, but I'm still depressed thinking that one day I'll reach the end of it. and there's always the movie if I want to risk dirtying my memories.

 So it's actually pre-post-cool-event-depression.

Do anyone else feels this kind of depression or whatnot? If so, how do you deal with it?

Only if a series gets cancelled.

Ditto.

I don't usually get this feeling. As long as it wasn't unexpected and wasn't due to a cancellation, disruption, etc., I'm fine with reading/watching things again and picking out things that I never noticed before. There are some things that give me the same excitement now as the first time I ever saw them. Zelda: Ocarina of Time is just as good every time I play through it, for instance.

Maybe I'm just easily amused.

I'd love to call you a big baby, but I felt the same way when I finished Death Note, so we are men we feel no shame.

Hey I'm over it. Kinda. These stuff usually take about half a day to get over.

Except when Digimon ended, I was depressed for a week (I was a kid, okay)? Then came Digimon 2. And it made me depressed until today.

Me too. Funny thing is, that's the first thing I thought as soon as I read Grandy's original post.

Scrubs ended.

I actually kind of liked the 9th season...

Games that don't really give you closure does this to me. Like you're going to save the world and all, you have your badass party - but then all of a sudden everything is over. All you can do then is replay the entire game.

What I do after reading books / watching movies / playing games - is that I take that thing I liked and I convert / steal it and make it into something of my own. Mixing two ideas that I liked also does the trick.

When I finally get sick of a game, this happens.

Every time I finish a series of Dexter. I'm waiting on Season 6 right now. It's worse knowing
what a loose cannon of a show it is, and that anyone could die in any episode!

Eh, I lose interest in shows that go on and on. Season after season. Dexter could have ended perfectly in season 5. But the show will probably go on for 2 or more crappy seasons.

Scott Pilgrim - you can always reread them, but I don't phsyically own them at the moment. THe movie comes back around though. Watched it once in theaters and then 7 times on dvd since.

Digimon - Depressed as well when that ended. Watched it again recently for nostalgia.

Pretty much any anime does this, the ones with any beautiful characters at least. but the shorts ones, like death note and flcl, can be rewatched anytime.

Anybody ever heard of Wedding Daze with Isla Fischer? Yeah. Watch that and try not to start it over too soon.

But what i guess i'm getting at is you can always rewatch/read things, so they'll never go away. Do we want things to go on forever? Smallville, Scrubs, all ended too late in my opinion.

But it's sad that I won't be getting to read any new stories with those characters. Or see them anywhere else. Someone should make a movie out of it.

I believe that this is why there are fanfics, fangames, spin offs and movies with Tobey Maguire.

@brieg, I agreed. I love scrubs, but honestly, what was it, 9, 10 seasons? **** gets old.

Though, sometimes you luck out, like in the case of futurama, I was perfectly content with the new episodes.

It'll be good because of this.
