Thorn, Cerebus' Poisonous Blade.

Yes, I know, I'm being such an attention whore giving out my own stuff for contests.
Doesn't mean there can only be one weapon, or that there won't be any other suggestion!

I think the point is that we design our own.

Just name something generic but interesting.

"someone needs to provide or suggest a weapon."

I provided one. Hah! But if you want a suggestion, uhm... what about a SteamPunk sword, or axe? Everyone loves SteamPunk! No?
Title: Re: SPRITE-OFF: WARXE VS VALIERE

Actually I like the steampunk weapon idea. Steampunk is usually pretty awesome.

And what about format? Standard 2K3 weapon set? One big sprite? What do you think, Valiere?

Also, I might do a weapon set of that sword anyways. But not for this.

Post by: Valiere on May 31, 2011, 06:51:51 AM
Standard 2k3 weapon set I suppose. Are we just doing one? Or a set of steampunk weapons?
Title: Re: SPRITE-OFF: WARXE VS VALIERE
Post by: WarxePB on May 31, 2011, 07:00:38 AM
Yeah, let's do a set. How about... a gun, a sword and one of our own choice? Or whatever you think works.

As a member I demand:
A sword, axe, spear/lance, bow-type weapon, gun, maul/mace, staff and some engineered contraption.

Should keep you guys busy enough and make this as varied as possible.

What purple said with a double shot of "engineered contraption"

As for style, i'm impartial. I don't think there needs to be a specific theme.

Each create several weapons types and then we can judge them. Sometimes it's more enjoyable when the artist isn't as limited because then we can really see what kind of creative concoctions come out of the works.

Although if it's just a single weapon type, I'm voting Sword. I love swords.

I think the steampunk theme is inspiring enough. And I like Prp's list.

Okay! It's awn!

How about a deadline of midnight Friday ET (before it becomes Saturday)?

Sounds good. So a full set of steampunk weapons works for you, or would you rather do less?

Full set! This must be a comprehensive duel.

Okay! The challenge is afoot!

EDIT: The rules are updated!

Oh wow I didn't see this thread.

MAKE IT HAPPEN.

The winner is going to get a "Steampunk Sprite-off Winner!" award, and the loser will get a "Steampunk Sprite-off Participant" award, with the former being particularly more glamourous. Here, I'll sprite them up myself. That'll be my little contribution.
Title: Re: SPRITE-OFF: WARXE VS VALIERE
Post by: Valiere on May 31, 2011, 07:57:15 PM
Awesome!  ;D

So Warxe, the rules only say to do a full RM2K3 weapon set. Are we dropping the idea of doing specific types, like sword, maul, etc.? Because I'd be fine with just keeping it open.

Do a steampunk puppy maul.

ed: sai, why not "Steampunk sprite off loser"? I mean, its just two people and its not open to the forum, so "participant" is being way too kind. They're losers!
2010 Banner Contest, first loser?

This particular challenge is not "open to the forum" but anyone can challenge anyone else one-to-one on any relevant topic. I think this is a great idea and I want to give people an incentive to do it more, cuz even if they don't win the challenge they still put themselves out there on the line to try to prove themselves, and that's more than most of us lazy bastards do. As long as people are challenging others, and the others accept, and they both actually enter the contest, and the contest gets judged, then I'd be happy to hand out all sorts of little awards. And I don't want to give "loser" awards since I want awards to be things people can be proud of. Except for mine, that is.

Also, may I offer that we pick 4 "standard" weapons and then 4 weapons of the creator's choosing? Say, a sword, a staff, a gun, an axe, and four of anything (which may include alternate versions of the four standard weapons if you have two good ideas for guns or something)

I like this idea. What say you, Val?

See? I'm somehow contributing to make Charas a more lively place! Vote for me for Mayor.

Good thing this is working, and I can't wait to see the results! Make this awesome.

holy ****, i vote... ugh.. tough, prolly Val. There is alot of Colors and detail going on there and it looks amazing.

Warxe i really liked your Drill Spear and 2-handed Sword/Halberd type weapon.

Val, I loved the Umbrella and Watch! But the Axe just speaks to me.

Overall wicked!

Yeah, Val wins. Warxe, you've got a very distinctive style, but it's a bit on the bland side. Val packed in detail like crazy, which is why she gets my vote.

See? I explain my thought process with constructive criticism to try and help the loser become better somehow. Aren't I the best?

I think you can all start voting for me now.

Hi. I'm back from my vacation now. Both sets are pretty awesome but I feel okay about Val being the winner. I'll make up the awards sooner or later. Prolly this week.

Congratulations, both! If nothing else for not being lazy and actually doing the contest!

Feeling up for round 2 against me, eh Warxe?

And the awards have been handed out.

Job well done all around.

That's some sweet Awards icons.
And congratulations to Valiere!

Hopefully the "Round 2" is about Sarah C.
Since this this might result in Sarah C. shaped awards.
We need more Sarah C.
I need more Sarah C...

Damnit, Cerb.

Have an award.

And have this 20-minute sketch.

And I'd say I'll clean it up and color it and stuff, but really we all know everyone's gunna make fun of it and I'll get defensive and delete it and not color it. So better save it quick if you want it!

The complete lack of eyes is horrifying.

I vote you continue.

Whee! I've got my award! Thanks for this, pal!
I'm not the biggest fan only, I'm also her creator, after all!
Exclamation mark!

And to be honest, I'd really like if you were to complete it.
Just send it to only me or something if you don't want people commenting on it...
However, I doubt I'm actually the only one who'd want to see the finished product.
And I do hope the next round is still Sarah C.

Don't forget that she's just a fictional character. All the Rule 34'd art in the world won't make her real. Try not to lose too much sleep over it, okay?

*Grins triumphantly*

My work here is done. Another fantasy shattered.
Title: Re: SPRITE-OFF: WARXE VS VALIERE
Post by: SaiKar on June 14, 2011, 03:27:48 PM
Well, now that I've gotten some sleep, I look at that and am not quite sure what I was thinking with the hair. Looks a lot better than my first try in the sig, but still, not a whole lot like Sarah C.

Kinda cute though. Maybe I'll finish it after all.
