I know black and white sucked hard, like they were really trying to kill the series or maybe were just running out of imagination (maybe), who knows, but apparently they had record sales and then this happened. Didn't care until just now when I realized it's being released on DS, not the 3DS.
But honestly, as if the whole series hasn't been a gimmick since the Diamond and Pearl, there really isn't anything too impressive I've read about it. Regardless if I end up playing the game, I refuse to buy it.

Sucked hard? I strongly disagree. I actually felt that they were the best in a while.

I really didn't like them. Though I will say they had some improvements. The change to HMs was the best thing to happen since buttered toast.

You can always play monster hunter lucas. All about killing and capturing monsters for hours. Only you do it with bigass swords.
And I don't find this too surprising, there was no "pokemon yellow" for this generation. So they are giving us 2. What I liked about platinum was that it fixed a lot of the major problems with diamond and pearl. So I'm a bit curious how well they've listened to the fans this time.
I liked B/W, I liked them a lot. Unlike diamon and pearl they were fully functional games with an interesting variety of pokemon. Still loving that huge centipede. It only bugged me that the battles got slower because of all the zooming and extended animations. Also that it was unfortunately linnear when it came to exploring. The fact that they had the guts to change the whole concept with the Elite four champion being the final battle in the main story as well as the option to pick the order you fight them ect went well with me. But not so much with some more conservative fans.
And I'm glad this is for the DS and not 3ds. Still haven't bought one of those. Interested in resident evil, snake eater, super rumble, ocarina of time, starfox ect ect. But I just can't find the rigth mindset to spend that much money.

I still love pokemon, and I really enjoyed black and white... But I do it for building a team and battling others, so I don't care too much about the story :p Just the new pokemon and moves and abilities... I think I keep my enthusiasm for it by not going over the top like some of your guys were a while ago, making rps of it and having pokemon avatars and all that. When a new pokemon comes around it's like a holiday for me, like christmas, and the rest of the time I don't think about it as much. I certainly don't want to give up christmas :p

I never got far in Black. I dunno, there are so many Pokemon now, but you can still only effectively use 6, so that it seems like the only legitimate way to deal with it is to go all min-maxy by finding the ones with the best stats and moves and ignoring the other 600 or so. When they introduced Black, and I knew literally nothing about any of the monsters in the world, and I found myself less willing to relearn everything *again* and more willing to just turn off the DS and calling myself no longer interested in the series.

Accidentally killed my browser and lost a long argument over why I liked playing White, so I'll skip it and get to the point: It was all-new through most of it, and I liked not re-playing the same game again for once.

I felt just the opposite. I loved the fact that I didn't just find zubats and geodudes everywhere. Sure they had their new zubats and geodudes and admittedly I got both(****...) just to check them out since they were all new and such. Generation 2 and 3 kept a lot of pokemon from previous generations which in the end would make you get an abra, or a gastly ect. Where black and white (unlike D/P) introduced many new interesting type combinations and attacks.
