And I decided I won't watch any more movies by DreamWorks.
Shrek 1 and 2 was a success because it was a deconstruction of the fairy tales. Good characters weren't exactly good, there was racism, and so forth and so on.
Then comes movies like this, where the villain goes from completely evil to remorseful in a single scene, with no foreshadowing, because... well because otherwise the ending wouldn't be truly happy.
So they just went the full circle, and now the spin-offs of the Shrek franchise are acting as fairy tales.
I dunno if I'm making sense here.

I went off the shrek thing after the first one. I wouldn't have thought to go see puss in boots, to be honest :p

We all know that sequels are bad. And one of the few things that are worse than sequels are spin-offs. At least this is most of the time very true in the world of movies and tv.

Called it. I quite liked Shrek, but I wasn't so enthused by Shrek 2. I didn't bother to see anything further in the series due to the progression of the formula being a bit unappealing. Puss in Boots seems like more of the same downward spiral, so I didn't even think twice about ignoring it.

Shrek 2 was totally boss.
I never saw Shrek 3 because they completely lied in the trailer, which usually you do that to make people watch the movie, but for me it was the opposite.
Yep, I saw the "Shrek has a billion babies!" and thought "well there's no way I can ever find this movie interesting. Turns out it was a dream sequence.
They did the same thing for Kangaroo Jack. Judging by the trailer it's about a talking animal, and I make it a point not to watch live action talking animal movies, unless Doctor Dolittle 1 is on again. What? Oh right, Shrek.
Haven't seen Shrek 3/4/Christmas shenanigans. But 2 was pretty good. And 1 of course, 1 was great.

Razor's right

Yeah, Shrek 2 is where all people should draw the line. I may have used harsher words than I meant to, so I'll try again" Shrek 2 still had enough of the charm and humor to be enjoyable, but the shift in story focus made it apparent anything further would be money-grubbing franchise milking. The first Shrek is pretty much tops.

One of my favourite bits in Shrek 2 is the whole "Hero" castle storming bit. That thing is always awesome.

I think it is the best use of the song in a movie I've seen.
