WARNING: **** is gonna make you sick. No graphic pics in the link, but the story is gruesome.
http://www.azfamily.com/news/national/Bath-salts-to-blame-for-face-eating-zombie-attack-in-Miami-155448915.html
Seriously, don't google any images of this. I'm still feeling nauseous from accidentally clicking a goddamn anonops picture of the dude on facebook. I guess it's just the knowledge that he looks like that because someone ATE HIS FACE OFF.
I think I'm sick again. I'm really squeamish about this.
-
yea, facebook and internet is blowing up with this story. Heard it myself recently.
-
Its not zombies until more than one crazy drug addict is infected. Much worse things happen every day.
-
I'm quite aware of that, Ben. But eating someone's face. EATING SOMEONE'S FACE.
-
Google a history of cannibalism
-
I'd rather not. Cannibalism is something I can't deal with.
-
Gotta love how people are all "omg governmental consperrazzy!". Are people really more willing to look for the most farfetched possible answer instead of facing simple truth these days? I mean, drugs are bad. And in this case, bath salt is bad. I still don't know how one would get high on it but it probably works.
Also faces getting eaten is kinda common among cannibalism. Lots of muscles in the face that aren't all too hard to get to.

I think most people are just kidding about the zombie thing. I mean, I really hope they are. And yeah, there are some terrifying drugs out there that'll **** you up. Some things I didn't even think were possible.
Also, just looked up bath salts and apparently its effects are similar to meth. Meth is... probably one of the most terrifying drugs I can think of.
EDIT: And ben... dear god, ben.
-
Ive done both of those drugs, and Ive never eaten a face...one time on meth I rearranged my house really poorly... I have done most drugs you can think of, and yeah...its not the drug you need to worry about. The drug itself is an easy outlet for the media to use to make you afraid of stepping out of line. The more I read into this, the more I realise that there are some pretty big facts being left out of the story here. Ill bet you any money that there is a history of something else at play here...mental Illness...an argument...but the whole thing will serve as a great mechanism to fuel the war on drugs, and keep it from being lost in useless obscurity.
-
Drugs are bad not because of what they are but rather what some people are capable of when using them. Just like alcohol. Some people get really violent under its effect, some gets loud, some gets depressed, some get speeded, some get paranoid, some pass out. Drugs are much the same, it's a question of who's using it.
There will be problem if you spend your life suppressing certain impulses and some sort of substance removes the blocks you've built up in a matter of seconds. And of course, how much you use the substance in question also affects the power it has.
A lot of people would be better of not taking drugs. But even more people would be better of leaving the bottle.
-
yeah, the long term effects of alcohol beat the snot out of most other drugs

Yeah... unfortunately, you're probably right and I've done a good job not thinking rationally about this and feeding into the fear mongering.

That said:
what the ****ing ****
-
*Jumping in. I was actually just talking to my friends about this. If in the case of a Zombie Apocalypse, what are everybody's survival chances? I think I'll survive at least a day. I've had some survival and weapons training, and I always seem to point out the dumb ideas in the movies.
-
I'd survive until the end.
Zombies would look at me and see how little meat there is, so they'd run after someone else.
-
I wouldn't go that far. All drugs do something; brain damage, liver damage, kidney, lung, what have you, after prolonged use.
But anyway, I would like to think I'd survive a good long while in a zombie apocalypse... but I have a feeling I'd be one of the first to go.
-
You obviously have never met my friends if you seriously just said "You can't be high all of the time"
-
Or my cousin, before.
-
Pretty weak. Fat guy, not terribly muscular, no weapons training (or weapons), and no survival skills. I'm smart enough to know what to do, but my lack of skills would be my downfall.
-
It all depends on the type of zombies we're up to. There are the classic dark magic zombies that are all dead people coming to life, then we have the virus zombies that are all people being infected with something and then spreading it.
If they are sluggish and overall just interested in our brains we'd probably do a lot better than people in movies.
If we're facing something more in the direction of resident evil 4/5 we're pretty screwed., that would take an actually military training and arsenal to get through.
Stack some cans, fill up your water bottles and bunker up at a high point. Hopefully the zombies won't even notice you exist.
Also, just like alcohol, drugs act the same way as poison in our bodies. Things gets fuzzy, we act confused, reaction-time is increased, our ability to reason about some things gets blocked and prolonged exposure leads to severe damage and later death. Some substances are harder to overdose than others but too much too often of anything will damage your body in bad ways.
-
You know, the guys is apparently still alive.
After seeing the picture of what he looks like now (I am a curious person) I'm wondering whether that's a good thing or not.
To be honest, was I in his situation (homeless for around 40 years) and with like, what, 20%? of my face remaining, I'd probably jump down a bridge or something...
...or start eating people's face so they'd believe it IS a zombie apocalypse starting.
-
Oh crap, I'm full of meat. I'm screwed! I stopped drinking a lot because at one point I'd go into rage mode and when I'm not holding back, I could cause a lot of destruction lol. The only drug I have done was whippits or however u spell it which is inhaling the nitrous oxide from airhorn cans or redi-whip (the cans are way more powerful). But I've only done that once and we went on a magical van ride to Giant and got chased by the cops. Fun night.
Anyways, once you grow up you realize your limits and what dumb **** you'd do if influenced by something. Teenagers do some stupid *** **** because they're not mature enough to know how to have self control usually.
-
I'd like to point out that I'm the exception, here.
I had a boring life where I did nothing stupid because I actually was aware of the consequences.
-

I'm of the school that believes the only possibility is infection-related, since the other requires voodoo-evil-majicks. I also believe that both fast and slow zombies will be involved, based on physical characteristics of the infected, as well as the time passed since the initial infection (case-by-case, of course). Long-infected hosts would have grown weak from poor living conditions, sub-human survival and self-preservation skills, and possible decay (if the infection involves the death of cells). I imagine it would start with fast zombies being more prominent that slow ones, since the slow zombies are both an easy target and hard to get caught by (unless in close-quarters). This wold trim the herd to mostly fast zombies. Assuming the decay/weakening takes place, there would eventually be a majority of slow zombies. Fast ones would still exist (newly infected), but the death rate of slow zombies would drop as the human-to-zombie ratio grows more uneven. 100:1 their favor makes killing a few much less attractive than getting the hell out of there and keeping your increasingly rare ammunition. Getting overpowered by that walking wall of meat sure sounds easy.
-
I would be so rad in a real zombie apolcalypse. I would duct tape swords and hockey sticks and knives and chainsaws to every part of my body and become the boss zombie
-
The moment you get infected, we'll all be fucked.

You evil mother****er haha
-
He won't do any good against us if we have guns. He can swing all he wants, but we'll just blow his brains out. And if I turn, good luck outrunning me or holding me back muahahaha!
-
I'd probably end up hyperventilating and then have a heart attack.
-
The idea is that you would waste most of your innefective weak ammo on the mob of zombies surrounding me. Naturally, I would use my sword arms to kill as many as I could before getting bit. Then, with a shield of Zombs around me...Id be like...nemesis. You would waste most of your shots taking out the lesser zombies...and I would have so much badass **** strapped to me, that it would be nearly impossible to get a clear head shot. You would be hopeless...and i would be the Illest zombie...and by Illest, I mean dopest...and by dopest, I mean I would eat your face with relative impunity
-
We'll have grenades and if that fails, we'll just drop a nuke. The uninfected will win.
-
yeah, you have access to depleted uranium hey? Im eating you first
-
****, daoman, you're not helping any.
-
THE FALLOUT....ZOMBIES ARE ****ing IMMUNE TO FALLOUT
-

Hey, I have a few of those lying around.
Seriously.
-
It's okay drenrin, he can't catch me so we'll be fine.
-
Yes, let there be a zombie outbreak, someone on this forums finally has an excuse to not make a game.
-
Ha!
-
post of the year.
-
What, is it rare that people finish games?
-
Yes.
I don't think I've seen a project go from start to finish here.
-
Yeah, we've mostly learned the hard way that making a game takes a lot of time, hard work, devotion, and planning. Many of us lack all those things. Most of us also have real-life things to worry about, making it even harder to actually finish a game.
And some of us are just really, really lazy.
-
Hahahaha I feel ya. I've been working on mine since 09 lol. Although incomplete, it's still about 15-20 hours long, maybe more.
-
I've been nursing an idea since '07.
It's changed massively since then.
I've only started making it once...didn't turn out so well.
And now my vision for it is relatively out of my league. I'd need a really good team to pull it off.
-
I'd like to gesture wildly towards this old thread:

Now there was a guy who got people making games. There were so many made for that competition : p

Sure wish he'd come back.

Well... I've had an idea for an RTP only game making competition... Maybe I'll get around to hosting it.

I'd love that actually. <3
