For all of us who have played Xenoblade Chronicles or are currently still playing through it (being me so don't spoil anything, I just made it to Sword Valley) the world is huge and beautiful.
It makes you feel like you're in exploring and hiking except the awesome privilege of killing monsters. But just how large is the world in comparison to let's say a country of a state in real life? Anybody truly know or care to take a guess?
-
Small, seeing as you can run across all of it in a few game days.
Anyways, without spoiling much, you have quite a few areas left to go :) Remember, there are TWO giants ;)
-
Games, even modern games, tend to be pretty small.
They usually mask that smallness with a world map.
The only exception that I can think of is Daggerfall, which is about as big as Britain, but like, completely empty.

Oh boy lol
That sword and claw fight between Dunban and Metal Face (i forgot the Homs name lol) was pretty bad ***. Dunban has moved up in the character ranking. When I first walked into Sword Valley or I should say Bionis's Thumb, I was like "****'s going down"

All in all, xenoblade is HUGE compared to most other new rpgs. Plenty of **** to explore and nice rewards for it.
I'd highly recommend Last Story and Pandora's Tower after Xenoblade if you haven't tried either of those. Last Story is a short game with AMAZING characters and a nice plot. It is an rpg, but it is short due to there never being a need to grind. Also, it is linear, but not to the point that the casual player should mind it. Plenty of point where you can pause from the plot to explore.
Pandora's Tower is like 3d castlevania. Heavier on the puzzles (god of war esque puzzles). Only has three characters TOTAL in the game (including NPCs). However, the depth they are given is great.
As for xenoblade: Best team is player controlled melia, shulk, dunban.
You'll probably look at that and go "da fuk?", but yeah, you'll see....
-
Melia doesn't know what the hell she's doing on her own hahahaha.
I love the goldensun series, even tho the third one was far too easy, because of the puzzles with the psynergy and the way you could customize classes etc. And the summons were cool as well. A lot of people don't, but I actually like the story.

The golden sun tangent was... random lol

Yeah xenoblade's world is huge. But some parts of it is just slow to walk across(like the jungle), and the characters don't move so fast unless you equip gems with movement speed. You'll see when you're trying to fix colony 6.
Favourite place is machina fields, great music there.
Also, in your journey ahead - you want to control Shulk or he won't give you the anti-machina buff. Bastard just spams the damage dealers and leaves the rest of the party to damaging 0.
Last story was a great game as well. But a little too short for my taste. They could've added some more areas or at least let you explore some more. Felt like there was only the main story going on.
Pandoras tower is indeed a great game as well. Felt a bit like playing a zelda with jumping and some action. Only downside is the lack of sword-usability against the bosses. Interesting story, multiple endings, dating sim.
Also huge and empty worlds : elder scrolls.

I disagree.
Skyrim is packed.
TOO packed.
