What are your top VG heroes and why?
1. John Marston
He struggles, he admits his flaws, and he understands he made bad choices. Still, he manages to do everything that he possibly can for his family, and endures incredible adversity to try to redeem himself.
2. Nathan Drake
Even though he's not anyone special (and very often doesn't want to be the hero) he's still willing to do everything he can and put his life on the line if he knows that others are depending on him. Except for one time he doesn't swim in a sea of self pity, and he always tries to find humour in even the worst situations.
3. Princess Garnet
Hear me out- she is responsible, she really does try to adapt to her surroundings, and she really grows throughout the game. She is willing to give up everything for the good of her kingdom. She accepts help when she needs it, but doesn't rely entirely on others.
My favourite kinds of heroes are the ones that seem intelligent, and that work with what they have (even if they're not the best at everything) in order to accomplish impossible tasks. I like heroes who make adult decisions, and who don't pity themselves; ones who make rational choices (except when dramatically understandable), and those who genuinely care for more than themselves.
So what are your favourites and why?

The other topic was only different due to the fact it was any characters, this one focuses on heroes.
At any rate, not in any particular order:
Nathan Drake [Uncharted]
First off I prefer the handsome Uncharted 1 Drake over the scruffy Uncharted 3 Drake. I mean seriously, he was such good lucking eye candy in the original. In the third one he's starting to look like an unshaven hobo. Thumbs down.
Anyway, I like Drake for the reason most people like Drake, his ability to find humor and lighten up any situation.
Vyse [Skies of Arcadia]
What can I say about Vyse? Headstrong and doesn't know meaning of the word fear. In the very beginning of the game when he charges Little Jack (a simple little fishing boat) into an Imperial Battle Cruiser that pretty much set the tone for the rest of the game. And then stealing the flagship Delphinus right out of the naval construction base... priceless!!!

Lara Croft [Tomb Raider]
Oh sure I could say she's smart and clever, but let's face it, there's only one reason why she appeals to the male demographic... ::)
Vanessa Schneider [PN03]
Combat cheerleader extraordinaire. If you don't know what PN03 is, it's DDR with killing. That's honestly the only way to describe it. You dance, you dance and you kill things.
Link [Legend of Zelda]
Save the princess, save the kingdom, find the treasure, rig the lands of evil, save some crappy village, stop a moon, defeat a giant boss, fix a mirror, do pointless sidequests for random weirdos. Link does it all with a smile on his face and a song in his not, never so much as a word of complain. Gotta give props for having nerves of steel for having to put up with one useless kingdom after another.
Samus Aran [Metroid]
Nerves of steel for having to do what Link does but alone. Where Samus goes there are no NPCs to help her. Girl's all out on her own every time. Now that's a baddass chick right there.
Other M Samus is an exception, she was a whiny little bitch. :x
Monkey [Enslaved]
On the outside he's gruff and self-centered. But on the inside he's mushy as they come. There's just something nice about having a tough guy showing a few cracks in his hardened shell.
Captain Price [Call of Duty]
The ONLY person to survive the entire Modern Warfare saga. My brother and I have a nickname for the new Modern Wafares, The Captain Price Chronicles. XD
