Title: Newest Version of iTunes
Post by: daoman89 on January 20, 2013, 06:53:12 PM
It's been out for months, but all i have to say is that they FUCKED UP BIG TIME!!!  They took away the best way to scroll through your music and half the **** it used to do like create MP3s doesn't work!! You make them and it's like oh, I can't play the file though!  You change settings and it always changes it back!  Whoever designed it needs to be fired and slapped across the face!  It's just like the piece of **** new design of Gametrailers.  I'm sure we all use Gamefaqs on occasion or used to and it hasn't changed all that much and it works great!  ARRRGGGHHH!!! lol i'm done.  Needed to flip out and see if anyone agrees with me :P

I only buy physical copies of my music. I like having something I can truly own. Also, I keep hearing this kind of bullshit about iTunes and similar digital stores.

I'll admit this: If something is only available via digital download, I pirate it. I do not feel it's worth my money if I can't actually buy it (or worse, if I have to jump through hoops or DRM woes to use it). Put it on an EP or single or whatever, but don't restrict my options.

I buy them physically too, whenever I can.  I admit that the habit does limit your music listening slightly.

I prefer digitals because having physicals takes up space hahaha
Title: Re: Newest Version of iTunes

This is why I won't update to newer iTunes. I hadn't heard anything, but I figured it would just get shitter with more DRM bs. I'm sure you can uninstall it and find an older version online somewhere.

Also, I never buy anything at the iTunes store so I never have much of a problem with that. It's always physical copies if I can get them. That way if my computer crashes or iTunes takes a ****, it won't delete everything off my ipod when I reinstall it.

I buy the album and then I download the songs illegally. I figure since I can't transfer my songs to my mp3 player or whatever I have to download it. But I have paid for the album in case someone would accuse me for not supporting the bands.

I really don't see the point of the iTunes store.

The lesser known bands music can only be found on iTunes store sometimes.  And I got an external harddrive for my backing up ish.
Title: Re: Newest Version of iTunes
Post by: Archem on January 21, 2013, 01:27:26 AM
That is true, but I can't say I'm underground enough to know or care about those bands.

I use the iTunes store to buy music all the time.  A lot of the music I buy (classical genre cd's or oboe recital cd's) aren't available in stores.  Not to mention its really convenient for me.  I tend to ruin CD's pretty quickly so its safer for me.  I honestly kinda like the new iTunes set up.  It works better towards how I normally use it.
Title: Re: Newest Version of iTunes
Post by: Archem on January 21, 2013, 04:12:25 AM
You act as though it's impossible to rip the music using any old built-in music player (Windows Media Player), then leave the CD in its case for safe keeping. Or, as though copying CDs is difficult and/or expensive. Difficulty finding a song? Best excuse. All others are ignored.

Geeeez.
Title: Re: Newest Version of iTunes
Post by: daoman89 on January 21, 2013, 05:26:33 PM
The old way to scroll through your entire music library where it displayed album artwork and u simply horizontally went through them and the tracks were listed under it.  It was fast but not so fast you'd keep over shooting.

The other reason is the way I make my songs MP3s. Finale saves them as WAV files which are ridiculously big so iTunes converts it to MP3 and then I increase their volume using MP3Gain.  A nice little system.  But when iTunes creates an MP3 and then can't even play it!? Somethings obviously wrong and it's extremely frustrating.
Title: Re: Newest Version of iTunes
Post by: A Forgotten Legend on January 21, 2013, 06:11:26 PM
I always use audacity to create my mp3's since I can edit the volume in it at the same time.  And a lot of the time I'll just record my computer playing it using the Stereo Mix mic setting so I skip making the wav file.

Don't forget windows 8, most pointless crap ever.
Title: Re: Newest Version of iTunes
Post by: daoman89 on January 22, 2013, 02:37:41 PM
Don't know much about windows 8 honestly.  I'm fine with 7.

And Meiscool, I wish i could go back to version 10 with itunes...  They even changed the store's look.  Made that worse too.  Like how do you eff that up!?  It was great before...  You'd type in the search for your band and they'd display the albums so that you didn't have to scroll horizontally, you'd just scroll down.  Everything was on the whole screen except when you needed to scroll up or down.  Now they got that retarded pain in the *** complicated **** that you can't even tell what year an album came out unless you click on it.  Plus the older one displayed songs after the albums too.  It was soooo much better and they added pointless tabs that could all be displayed on only one, like it used to!

It's like the steve dude dies and people **** up everything.  I'm probably wrong, but something tells me he told people when they were designing these newer versions they looked like **** and now that hes gone, they're like... "Oooo, now I can do my design with all these awesome apps and features people couldn't care less about!"

I should type up a hate email lol

I do like the radio part of iTunes though... I use that all the time. Although, I use the classical stations.  The Play next feature is something that I use all the time.  I dunno, I'm really okay with when stuff changes so maybe that's why I don't have an issue with it.

I'd be fine with most of it if they didn't take away my organization setups.  That's the biggest issue.

It's horrible. I can imagine their meeting down at apple:

Man 1: "We need to update iTunes right away."
Man 2: "But doesn't iTunes function well already?"
Man 1: "A bit TOO well if you ask me."
Man 2: "Good point. Let's really un-optimize it and make
it so people that are used to it are really out of their comfort zone."

Or something like that...

Man 1: "We need to update the pokémon type efficiency right away."

Man 1: "A bit TOO well if you ask me."
Man 2: "Good point. Let's really un-optimize it and make
it so people that are used to it are really out of their comfort zone."

Something like that?

Oh man just think about how horrible that would be...

Like stupid matches such as fire beating flying because feathers burn.
Ice beats water because water freezes.
Poison beats bug because of pesticides.
Electric beats dark because it gets all bright.
Fighting is super effective against itself, because a fighter can beat a fighter.
Normal super effective against psychic because it's better to be normal than psychic.
Electric beats grass because trees are tall.
Ghost beats dragon because ancestors are cooler than living beings.
And then add new types such as "shark" that beats ghosts but gets beaten by dragons.

"Well Apple Company, what should we do with our newly brought gaming industry?"
"Well, first off, the main character looks like a fag. We need to drop the elf ears and shirt-dress and give him manly pecks and scars."
"Good, good. What else?"
"Well, we should definitely make it to where more than one little critter thing is following the main character, seeing as they are the most iconic symbols in each game and aren't annoying at all."
"Brilliant. Any more changes?"
"Yeah. The main hero never says anything. What's up with that? We need to give them witty and original lines that people will find memorable."
"Amazing idea sir. I think we have all that we need."
"Not quite. I know that if some kid came into my house and broke all my pots and stole the money in them, I'd be pissed as ****. We need to put a wanted system, food bar, morality system, perks, and experience system in the game."

Something like that.

Piggy backing on the sharktype idea, I wouldn't mind seeing a "light" type or something. Effective against ghosts, dark, psychic, Ice, Bug. Resisted by Plant, Fire, Steel, Electric. Weak against Water, Poison, Ummmm

I feel that this thread and the other have swapped topic or something. Maybe all roads just leads to pokemon.

Anyway. If they want to make any serious changes like adding a new type or messing with weakness/strengths this is probably the right time. 3d graphics and all is foreign, if they change anything else people will see it as something new, worth playing and exciting.
People will still complain that it feels different because of the graphics anyway.

I just gave itunes some feedback.  I was a little too nice though...

The new iTunes is definitely a step down from what it was before.  The organization features that were great before are now gone and if you close iTunes and reopen it, all of your playlist etc changes are reset.  The store is designed horribly as well.  The way the store was organized before was great, simple and displayed the info you wanted.  Now yo have pointless scrolling and sloppy lists etc.  I don't understand why you feel the need to fix things that weren't broken in the first place.  Did you make them better?  No.  Did you make it worse?  Yes.  You got rid of the option to set individual playlists on shuffle.  Half the time is won't even load files into its library unless you reboot it, which is annoying.  I could go on, but all in all the version is suppose to be better looking and easy to navigate.  But the truth is... It's not.  It's tedious, poorly designed, and frustrating.  PS: I want back the horizontal scrolling option that you could scroll smoothly through as if it was a book or a shelf.  Now it looks like a kid designed it.

A few grammar mistakes, but whatever.  You can understand it.  And they had an option to talk about a specific version fyi.  Which was 11.  I was gonna say "So now that steve jobbs is gone you screw it all up?" but that would've been a lil mean haha.
