I'll listen to it tomorrow for sure. A bt late to be playing music here though.
-
Oh wow. Blowing me away over here.
-
This sounds like that thing I went to see live here in Stockholm, Symphonic Fantasies. The time I "saw" it we were given Secret of mana, kingdom hearts, chrono trigger, chrono cross and final fantasy. I think I hear some kingdom hearts in the beginning and some chrono near the middle, then the most famous FF boss theme near the end.
-
I remember making a Boss Theme thread last year. :3
was a fun discussion.
Also whats the most famous FF boss theme? Clash on the bridge?
-
Purple is right. Clash on the bridge from FFV isn't in this song, but it might be in the FF song. I'd have to listen to it again.
-
Two more songs by the same orchestra!
Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross Medley

And for Felix, Final Fantasy V, VI and VII Medley (With Clash on the Bridge)!

One winged angel. Seriously, everyone at the concert pretty much cheered when they started the intro for it
-
But Clash on the big bridge had that awesome intro. :c

One winged angel. Seriously, everyone at the concert pretty much cheered when they started the intro for it
And was during the final fantasy movement, not the final boss so it only played for like 4 - 8 measures. Got em!!
-
TBH, the only theme I recognized from the first one was Meridian Dance and briefly lavos theme. Had to stop listening at 4 minutes because it switch to One Winged Angel.
I hate One Winged Angel.
-
They combine One Wing Angel with Dancing Mad
-
OWA is a pretty overrated song. It sucks, if I'm being quite frank.
-
I'll agree it's overrated. But if you listen to all the parts of it, it's not so bad. Just listening to how it was constructed/composed.
-
It's not fun for me to listen to. Therefore, I'm calling it a bad song.
-
I think it has to do with the emotion of the song. For example, Dancing Mad isn't really that great of a song, but it def sounds mischievous and clown-like, while also sounding like an impending disaster is on way. Describes Kefka and his actions pretty well.
One Winged Angel sounds like something that would play more for a character like Kratos from GoW than Sephiroth. I could never really get Sephiroth's personality down well either, so that might have something to do with it. Either way, I don't feel any emotional linkage to what it represents when I hear it, so I just take it to face value as a piece of music: something that sounds kind of out of place.

Classic VGM 278: Final Fantasy VI - Dancing Mad (Full Song) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbXVNKtmWnc#ws)
A 17 min long song. It has a great into. If this song was remastered. Trust me, it would in fact be a great song.
"Greater song"
I wish Dissidia had remastered Kefka's portion of dancing mad.
Dissidia 012 [Duodecim]: Final Fantasy Music - Battle Theme [Final Fantasy VI] (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rDR6m1U05Rc#ws)
At least they did remaster the battle theme and boss battle theme.

Have to admit that I didn't start liking One winged angel until Kingdom hearts 1, it was that arena battle against sephiroth that put the song into a real context in a way. Because that battle was hard and time consuming and it just fitted, especially with nature of the battle in a way.
Dark Messenger from IX on the other hand works awesome, it's a battle version of Kuja's theme which in itself portrays the guys deceit and evil. Not a final boss theme though, that's grand cross.

any links to good games music ?

LOL. You should listen to the Black Mages version of Dancing Mad. Nobuo's metal band.
-
This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMFCM0SKbnY#) is pretty much the best version of Dancing Mad out there, IMO, but it still always seemed kind of. . . I don't know, incoherent and overly bloated to me. Given the vicious backlash against everything FFVII since Advent Children, I would honestly say I think Dancing Mad's more overrated than One Winged Angel at this point. Seriously, FFVI's been named Greatest RPG Of All Time repeatedly; I think we can stop pretending like it's some underrated diamond in the rough now.
But I agree with the idea of emotion and tension being the most important elements, as well as the character of the piece. I especially like when they pull back previous motifs and bring them into the song; it just sort of ties everything together for me. But it also has to fit with the feel of the music up to that point, I think. For example, even though they used Otherworld in the beginning of FFX, it just never meshed with the rest of the music for me. Maybe that was the point, given the ~different worlds~ schtick, but eh.

Go and search for Ys music on Youtube. It's awesome. Especially the Ys Chronicles version of "To Make the End of Battle"
I think both "Dancing Mad" and "One Winged Angel" are pretty overrated.....
Dancing Mad is only good because it fits Kefka's insanity and because it's so long but I don't think it has a catchy melody (and IMO all really good final battle themes must have one!) but overall I prefer it over One Winged Angel, I guess :o
However, I'd rather not listen to any of them xD
Final Fantasy I final boss music FTW *.*
-
Final Fantasy III, IV, V, VIII, and IX's final boss music was pretty legit IMO
-
Yeah, I've always thought The Extreme was 'pretty legit'. Back in the day I had a MIDI version of it on a floppy disk I used to listen to XD
-
I could never really get Sephiroth's personality down well...
Well, he didn't really have a personality. His character flaw was not really having anything other than "Vengeful, sociopathic, insane, say-nothing, evil-doer." Or maybe it's been too long since I played that game.
Regardless, I actually love Dancing Mad on its own. One Winged Angel is a great musical piece on its own, too. I think something overlooked would be Secret of Mana. That game had some great music in general, but it's boss music was awesome. A bit risky, but it was done right and paid off.

Signs have been appearing recently telling me to play secret of mana. Is there an easy way to play it nowadays?
-
Emulator I suppose, SNES games tend to be easy to find. Never really liked the game, it had tons of cool features and sweet music but that's about it.
-
wii shop channel
-
If you play it on the wii you can do 3 player, which is awesome IMO.
-
Is that so? I think I may have a new game to play with friends.

Agreed. It was definitely one of those cool-only-when-you-were-a-kid kind of games. Also...

0_o That does sound freakin awesome

Some dude was complaining about SoM somewhere, idr. Just one of those many nitpickers these days who want everything to be perfect. It seems like people's standards for games these days have drastically increased from what they were in the past. Oh the review gave the game an 8.3? Well that score is just too low for me. Just play the damn game and enjoy the experience rather than look for things that are wrong with it. That's why I try really hard to not watch reviews so they don't ruin the game for me. Like when Gametrailers reviewd FE: Awakening, they put in a huge spoiler. Reminds me of the time when someone ruined Chrono Trigger for me with
when Crono was killed
. Anyways, SoM is a great multiplayer game, but sometimes waiting to do an attack can be a lil annoying, but it's really not a big deal.
-
I don't really think that you need spoiler tags for SNES games. It's kinda like putting a spoiler tag on Nazi Germany invading Poland. It's common history.
But I wouldn't want Awakening spoiled for me seeing how it isn't even released yet (stupid other countries that don't want it released before it gets translated so that their people won't buy the english version).
-
i didnt play chrono trigger til it was on the ds so just in case haha. and having all those countries with different language seems to be a pain. yay europe!
