So, a playstation 4 is coming out and square still have a bunch of projects coming along. I suppose it will pay of better than releasing it to a console that noone owns but still.
First of all we have FFXIIIVS which should have been released already seeing how FFXIII managed to get a sequel FFXIII-2 already and a new one, Lightning returns FFXIII, to be released. And FFXIV realm reborn is supposed to be released later this year.
Also Kingdom hearts. They released Birth by sleep and then Dream Drop Distance and the team said that DDD would be the last game released before Kingdom hearts 3. Work on that game will not begin until FFXIIIVS is done though, same team working on it.
Also, the remake of Kingdom hearts (1) with final mix, PS chain of memories and 358/2 as a theatre was released in Japan recently and will hit the shelves towards the end of the year.

Sounds like to me they've got everything under control!
-
I'm more waiting for the fan translation of type-0 atm.
-
I just don't even care about Square anymore. I dunno, i guess their games have just lost me entirely.
-
Out of curiousity, how long has vsXIII been in development?
I think it was announced the same time XIII was announced.
So, for ever.
-
type-0 looks amazing. :(
-
Oh crap, forgot to mention FF Type-0 It's apparently receiving a lot more progress than most of the other projects. Looks more interesting than some of the other projects.
-
Maybe they should focus on less projects at once rather than a bunch at a time. Just my opinion.
-
Totally forgot the FFX HD remake they released some pictures of last month.
-
That's the other thing. Why are they remaking a game that doesn't need to be remade instead of working on new installments?
I mean Nintendo is remaking Wind Waker, but they're still working on WiiU and 3DS zelda titles. They know new is more important and the creator said so himself.
-
Remakes are easy money, that is why.
I mean, a team of 5 people remaking a game to sell for 30+ dollars can often make more net gain than a team of 100+ working on a brand new title for 60 dollars.
-
Makes more sense. Maybe the vita will get more sells and come into existence.
-
The new Tomb Raider looks amazing.
Square Enix should stop making Final Fantasy games considering they already killed the series. They all but abandoned every every game element that made the series what it was, but they keep slapping the Final Fantasy title on games and throw in some chocobos because they know people will buy it regardless of the quality. FF13 for example forces a character down one giant hallway with no chance to explore. There really isn't an epic story, just a bunch of sissies whining. Lightning Returns does away with the ATB battle system and other characters, and pretty much just seems like assassins creed with a Final Fantasy twist. I feel like for the past many years Square Enix has just been shitting in a box and shipping it. I keep expecting that I will be playing a game, but nope, **** every time.
-
And what DB just mentioned also promotes the idea of releasing remakes

I liked the FF13 games. I thought they were a step in the right direction. Alright character interraction, awesome music and emphasis on music, especially in 13-2... I got quite sad that they were so disliked because that meant that inevitably square were going to have to do an about turn to try and please the public rather than just build upon what was good about the 13 games and make the next ones better...
-
Well, they were the best thing ever compared to 12.
I liked the games, but I hate them for ending XIII-2 with a cliffhanger, and that they added timetravel even though the areas didn't even change with 2000 years between them.
Biggest problem I have with them and other games that are this linear is that I have no impulses to replay them again. Replays 8,9 and 10 a couple of times simply because they are great adventures. But games like DMC4, MGS4 ect. Not as much.
-
Personally, I feel ff13 would've been an amazing game if they made it to where you can switch your leader mid battle (fixed in 13-2).

Yeah that would have made wonders. The whole leader thing was stupid. Especially since the enemeis would target the leader more often than the rest of the cast. And dying as the leader = game over. In the end I had to use sentinel snow to beat some of the bosses simply because the damage output and the pathetic healing abilities in the game.
Like the huge cactuar. also that super annoying flying undead in the ruins.
-
I think I always used saba/enchanter/medic -> rav/commando/medic -> commando/rav/commando (during break or whatever) and switched to triple medic/2medics and 1 commando when I received high damage.
Man that game was silly. I'd replay it if it had any replay value at all.
-
I was usually a medic. It was the one role that the AI just couldn't get right for some reason. Then I let Lightning and Fang bash everything to bits whilst I supported them.
I agree about the poor use of time travel in FF13-2. There are ruins you explore throughout the game and are constantly hinted towards stuff that happened there. Do you ever actually visit the place before it got ruined? I thought that was gonna be a given almost up until I won >_>

So the news on the FFX/X-2 HD remake says that it will be released sometime this year, just as the Kingdom hearts/chain of memory HD remake. Lightning returns XIII will come out this fall.
but anything about VS is more missing / secret than ever.
Besides that there's mostly videos and pictures of FFXIV realm reborn. Square also took the opportunity to post a video of the magitech armours (as they appeared in the concept art at least) intro of FF6.
Not square related but fire emblem awakening will be relasead in 3 days!

Man Europes late with Fire Emblem!! lol

Man Europes late with Fire Emblem!! lol
The game got voice overs right? Nintendo tend to translate those voiceovers to those blasted european languages. Would be much more convenient to just give them subtitles.
-
American voices were used for our version such as Roy Mustang's actor for Lon'qu. But you're right, American's mostly despise England voices lol.
