Title: Tent/Campsite style chipset
Post by: MyOhMyke on April 18, 2013, 03:48:45 PM
I need a chipset with tents or a military-style camp that's working correctly.

Every single one I downloaded form the resources section has the lower-layer tiles fully transparent in-game, and faded out in-editor as if they were on the middle or upper level.  I've had this same problem when I try to take a few tiles from one RTP tileset and put it onto another one -- every lower level tile is useless because it isn't visible.

I attached a screenshot of how it looks in-editor.  In-game, everything is totally pink.  I've imported other tile sets with no issue whatsoever.

Any idea how to fix the issue so I can use some chipsets?  Thanks!

Pretty much, what Momo said although I believe that the problem is that when you imported the tileset you forgot to make the "standard" upper layer tile transparent, that's why the upper layer is all pink and not transparent. Which is why everything appears pink I suppose..

 This one right here.

Ah, wrong tile? Been awhile since I did anything in RPG maker.

I've worked around needing this particular tileset, but this is the first one that was giving me fits.

When RPG Maker 2003 imports my images, it adds the background color back in, and I end up with an unusable tileset.  I don't know what gives with that.  (I also don't know where it's getting the color from.)

The one you uploaded?  Same thing as the first one listed...but yours worked, the one I got from the resources didn't.  WTF!  The one thing I did notice: The one you posted, when I import it into RPG Maker, the 'pink' transparent color changes shades slightly. I think it's animating to show what the water would do if there was any, but the transparency changes shades too.  The other files I import don't seem to animate (or both frames look the same).

Thanks for the help!  It's good there's an active community for these still.  I always used to play around with the RPG Makers when I was younger.  Never made any headway with anything, just liked playing around with the editor.  I'm weird.

Edit: Something else I found; the army camp you posted, when I go to re-export it, has 255 colors.  The one I got from resources only has 133.  Fireworks only uses 256 colors if I tell it to use a specific color scheme ('Windows' or "Macintosh" adaptive PNG/BMP), but then that distorts the color of the 'transparency' tiles and the whole thing still goes to hell.
