I'm sure someone on here has heard of the 3DS zelda being a 2D sequel of A Link to the Past. I love 2D style zelda as long as it isn't COMPLETE touch control like PH and ST(i loved spirit tracks tho).
There was a kid on miiverse ranting about zelda remakes. He was saying how people are dumb and stupid for buying the remakes. Doesn't he know the fans ASKED for the remakes? I'm pretty sure there's posts all over it stating "Please remake MM or ALTTP!" And what they did was semi remake ALTTP by giving it a sequel with the same world. So it's like their making a new zelda with a somewhat remake.
What are your thoughts on the new 3DS zelda? Were y'all hoping for a 3D zelda game or a 2D?
-
I'm excited. Gameplay videos already show that it won't be exclusively touch-based (in fact, I haven't seen any touch at all so far, but I also haven't seen menu navigation yet), and it looks like some kind of weird Paper Mario-esque element is going to be vital to progression. Given that it's all of my favorite things together (favorite franchise, favorite perspective for that franchise, and favorite game from that franchise), I have a strong feeling this will be something I'll love.
Worth mentioning that it isn't confirmed to be a sequel or prequel. It's still unclear when it fits into the timeline.

That Nintendo Direct was excellent. I'm all for Oracle of Ages and Seasons being available again (my favorite of the series), that Mario Golf looked surprisingly good, just about blew my b-hole when they showed a new Yoshi's Island, Bravely Default coming to the west, and to top it off that bundle of the SMT IV looked magnificent.
But let's get on topic, that new Zelda.
Yes. That'll do.
-
Can't say I'm excited. Can't really call a Zelda game bad but they've been far from great as well.
-
You shut your whore mouth. Link to the Past was amazing. If its riding anything close to that wave of success, we could do far, far worse.
-
This year is going to be good for the 3DS. Link to the Paster (it's a prequel, right?), New Yoshi's Island (aka, the best SNES game) (well maybe second best), Donkey Kong Country: Returns 3D, the game you've already played but without waggle-to-roll, fuckin EARTHBOUND (I assume this will be going to the 3DSes VC, and FYI Earthbound has never had an Australia release, nor has it been released in the west since the SNES version) (right?)
and uh, Animal Crossing.
-
Guys, the Wii-U and 3DS don't have games remember? Says all haters lol
-
I didn't know they planned on making a new Zelda.
Well, rather... I didn't know one was announced.
A Link to the Past is my favourite Zelda of all time, followed by the three GBC ones. If the new one is anything close to it, I'll definitely love it. But they better not force me to use the stylus to move or I'll skip it like the NDS ones, even if critics give it a perfect score.
Now I just wish they'd make a new 2D Metroid similar to the classic ones...
-
Hey Razor, you forgot about that new Mario & Luigi RPG. And Mario & Donkey Kong. And there's still that new Pokémon on the way.
Strong as **** year for the 3DS.
-
itd be stronger with monster hunter 4. and the new zelda uses buttons with touch screen for inventory. for now...
-
Been doing some minor zelda net surfing and came across this. http://www.zeldawiki.org/Greatfish_Isle (http://www.zeldawiki.org/Greatfish_Isle)
Hopefully Nintendo will complete Wind Waker like how it was suppose to be. That would make my favorite zelda even better. I should plead for it on Miiverse or something haha. Don't be lazy Nintendo! Make Wind Waker even better than it was!!!
-
Well, Jabu was supposed to be in Greatfish island but Ganon kinda fucked it up so he left for Outset island instead. I'm pretty sure you receive that information. Nothing proves that there was a dungeon planned there.
The thing I find most interesting about this game is that it is expected by the end of the year.
They also mentioned a release of Earthbound, donkey kong country return 3d and some other neato titles.

Here's another little source Purp. http://gengame.net/2013/01/wind-waker-wii-u-is-the-perfect-opportunity-to-release-a-complete-directors-cut/ (http://gengame.net/2013/01/wind-waker-wii-u-is-the-perfect-opportunity-to-release-a-complete-directors-cut/)
True or not, i guess we'll see what happens in the fall.
-
yep. knew this.

I pretty much doubt that they are planning on changing the game anything. Maybe they'll add something post gameish. Like they did with OoT. Sure it would be nice and all to have a third sage and a third pearl dungeon, but I bet there are people who would get mad that the game isn't just revamp.
Just imagine if they changed the FFX HD remake and added a part where the team finds Payne (from X2) after mushroom rocks and there's this dungeon for Tidus to help her get back to the army, add some dialogue to hint at what's about to come in X2. Some people would rage simply because it's not the same.
Don't get me wrong though, I would very much like a bigger Windwaker. But I kinda feel that Skyward sword needs to be a lot meatier than Windwaker.
Edit.
Oh I just had the best idea ever. Windwaker could be Nitnendos first real opportunity to add a bunch of DLC content, just to join with the other companies for asshatery.
First DLC will be "The Dawn of Greatfish Island" Where you go there and enter a dungeon and stuff, also get a new useless item / get an item earlier. After reaching lord jabu he asks you to go somewhere else and find him something, like a fish. Maybe you receive another bottle. Then when you return with the fish, great island is destroyed and the scene plays like it does in the original. Just $14,99
Second DLC would probably be something like "LoZ Four Swords outfits" You pay $4,49 for each colour, red, blue, purple or $10,99 for all of them.
"Epones Riding experience", Epone is not a horse but a seahorse, you have to race around a track to win, works the same as the racing in OoT. Kinda just copy the events of OoT. Experience the fun for $7,99!
"Zunari's Nintendo stock" Which adds several nintendo based decorations to be placed around windfall island instead of flags and stuff. Could be yours for only $4,99
And then finally something like :
"The real ganon, decisive battle" Where you fight a Ganon more like the one found in OoT or Twilight Princess perhaps. Either way it is a Arena fight where you enter the room and fight it. Only $12,99
-
if that happened, nintendo would be destroyed by fans lol. And what fans would hate extra dungeons? Gotta be out your damn mind if you're raging about change for the better. But hey, fans want nothing more than to complain about sooomething lol. A lot of companies end up disappointing people no matter what anyways. You just cannot win... So yeah... not buying extra costumes or a freakin' seahorse! lol
-
People raged against the OoT remake because a lot of glitches weren't present in the remake. Which screwed up their speedruns. It's mostly speedrunning people that complain really. More stuff to do means longer times.
-
Wow seriously? Maybe they should get over it because it's not a big deal.
-
People complain about everything. Even fixes. I'm not surprised.
I've seen a video on my 3DS. I easily recognized that area where you find the entrance to Death Mountain in A Link to the Past, south of the Lumberjack twins. Also easily recognized the Moldorm from the third dungeon. I'm intrigued by this new stuff, such as the thing that propel you on a higher level, and the item that turns you into paper Link. Looking forward to it.
I sure hope it will at least have 8 Dungeons, though. Because it seems like many new Zelda game have less than that. I mean.. even the first Zelda game had 8, and A Link to the Past had like 12.
-
More dungeons and stuff like that would be gladly accepted in a master quest version of the game though. I would advice Nintendo to do it that way. Worked with ocarina of time on the GC.
-
i think it all comes down to that Nintendo should just listen to me. Disregard the speed runners cause who gives a ****, disregard the people who don't want change cause it's the perfect and perhaps the only opportunity for The Wind Waker to be reborn as it was meant to be in the first place. If they can add a master quest to OoT, then changing up WW a little bit won't be a problem.
Hell, arent they completely redoing FFIX MMO? I guarantee that the ratio of not changing WW because it was good enough to addind new dungeons, etc, would greatly favor towards the new additions. Plus they could show a giant triforce in the ocean as a cutscene. Remix the music a little bit and add a little more difficulty.
This is the Legend of Zelda dammit! If it had more potential, bring that mofo potential out! You're making us buy it again for $40-60 so beef it up! People who complain about stupid things such as glitches and speedruns will get over it. Games aren't made for people to glitch it and stuff. Enjoy the game the way it is meant to be!

You have to admit that this is pretty impressive though.

And then because this is about A Link to the Past, here's a medley song from Nintendo!
