This about sums up Day One (http://thorinmyside.tumblr.com/post/52679468000)
What are your thoughts?
-
Sony certainly won. It's like they saw Xbox getting all excited to shoot itself in the foot, so they provided the gun.
Really though, Microsoft ruined everything well before E3 even started. The PS4 being a whole $100 cheaper only put the nails in the coffin.
-
Very true.
I think the problem here is that Microsoft started thinking more and more about the general consumer and publishers/developers than a VIDEO GAME console's target audience: GAMERS. If they want to break into the home entertainment business, then by all means, please do! Just leave my gaming machines out of it!
-
I haven't really cared for consoles in a while, but this is a pretty spectacular flub by microsoft.
-
While Microsoft had a few exclusives I am interested in they aren't enough to justify buying THAT hardware. Sony didn't show many exclusives and I don't think they'll be leading in them for a while, but Sony offers indie gaming and a wide stock of third party games. Microsoft C- and Sony B+.
-
Awesome, new super smash, both for WiiU and 3DS. New characters Villager (animal crossing?) and Megaman. Looks classicly great.
Also, Monoliths new game, not much new on it but it's all good.
New Donkey kong with coop, viking penguins and walruses.
Also Bayonetta 2.
And apparently FF 13 VS is not FFXV
-
Link looks like a badass in those cg scenes
-
And apparently FF 13 VS is not FFXV
But it is, they even showed it in the trailer. The XIII Versus logo changed into XV.
Skip to 3:38, apparantly short time links don't work here.

Misstyped Not instead of "now"
-
I had hopes that microsoft would attempt to redeem themselves at E3, but that didn't happen. If Sony took up Halo.
-
Forgot to mention that Smash bros will have different looks on the 3ds and wiiu, the 3ds looked kinda cellshaded while the wiiu one went with High def.
Also, they are now having Kingdom hearts 3 in development for PS4, Amazing that an entire generation of consoles passed before it came out. KH2 was for the PS2 after all.
New mario kart looked good, but no new zelda was kinda disappointing.
-
Kingdom Hearts 3 - PS4 Sometime
Final Fantasy Versus XIII XV - PS4 Sometime
Super Smash Bros. - Wii U and 3DS 2014
Super Mario 3D World - Wii U Sometime
Handful of other games for Wii U and 3DS I already knew about
In other words, I will inevitably get a PS4 when there's something worthwhile, but as it stands I can stand to play Watch Dogs on PC.
-
Project Spark actually looks pretty interesting. Kinda like rpg maker on steroids.
-
I concur, Spark did look quite intriguing. I have high hopes it will be released for Windows 8 which they sort of eluded to if I recall.
-
Below (http://www.whatliesbelow.com/) was the most interesting game showed. To bad it's exclusive to one.
-
Fairy type. Discuss.
-
Fairy type. Discuss.
Not much to discuss, beside the choice of name. Fairy sounds kinda gay. Going with "moon", "mythril" or "dragonslayer" would've been much better.
-
Pokémon types are always matter-of-fact. Normal. Grass. Dark. Maybe it should have been called light.
-
Pokemon seems like legalized underground cock fights, except instead of just birds, you pit two cute animals together in a death match. I think I'll be okay with my Charizard or whatever beating the crap out of a fairy lol
-
Yeah the name is quite gay, myess, but at least it gives crappy pokemon a chance to hopefully become better. Like who the hell would use Corsola, its stats suck so bad...
-
They still make Pokemon games?
-
They still make Pokemon games?
Sadly, yes.
-
Maybe it should have been called light.
But fighting is called light in Japan.
-
the newest ones are the best of the series. they have a large focus on playing and trading with other people. But no matter what, people will complain about too many pokemon or not having new pokemon, you can never please everyone. i didn't like the fact they'd put me up against japan players who have good pokemon with their hidden moves, such as blaziken and his speed boost.
-
There is a reason why Dream World Blaziken is in the uber tier.
-
I had no interest in any of the next-gen systems going into E3. However, after seeing Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and MGS5 I'm kinda excited for the PS4. I doubt I'll get one in the next few years, but I could see myself picking one up eventually.

Aren't all three of those also showing up on the XBone?
-
Aren't all three of those also showing up on the XBone?
They are, but why get them on an inferior and ridiculous console?
-
You know, I haven't read nor watched any official stuff because frankly, I don't really care. I usually start showing interest once it's out and I can see what it does.
But is there anything that will prevent the Xbox One's Kinect to misunderstand what people say? I mean... can you imagine playing and then telling someone to "**** off" or something only to have your Xbox power off because it heard "Xbox Off" or something?
Or playing with a friend who came over who says "I might go home after this game" and your Xbox goes to the Home menu. Or saying anything that may sound like "Xbox reset" or whatever.
Just curious as to know if there is any risk of things you say while playing being misunderstood by the Kinect.
-
They are, but why get them on an inferior and ridiculous console?
Certainly, but I figured I'd mention it since the games were being used as examples of the PS4's strong offerings. Not exclusives = not good examples.
-
Hilariously enough, people that were watching the Xbox One reveal conference on their Xbox had their Kinects react to the voice command examples.
-
I have heard this. It's laughable.
-
Hah, awesome.
-
CNN -- Reacting to "feedback from the Xbox community," Microsoft is appearing to reverse course and change two key components to policies for its new Xbox One video game console.
All disc-based games can be played without ever connecting online, and the 24-hour connection requirement has been dropped, according to an update to a May post concerning questions about the new device, due to be released this fall.
Additionally, there will be no limitations to using and sharing games, Don Mattrick, president of the Interactive Entertainment Business division, says in the post. People will be able to share, trade or resell their games in the same way they do for Xbox 360 games.
Perhaps there is some hope for Microsoft?
-
Some hope. Just some.
-
Yeah, their backpedaling right now is great. It's rare to see a company admit that they're wrong.
The thing that gets me, however, is that there are a lot of people who are mad. What the hell. I guess having the ability to let more than one account use a game (but not at the same time) is better than letting anyone play the game on any Xbox.
-
Aww how cute. I'm still not getting an xbox one. Good for them though for fixing their stupid problem.
-
It makes my inevitable caving in to their ploy (when the price drops far enough and the exclusives stack up tall enough) a lot less painful.
-
Microsoft is in full out defence mode now, trying to save whatever. Either way, even with these good changes you still have to deal with region lock and that horrendous 1984 device that's always watching, always listening, always reporting.
It's still hilarious how they said they did it because of publishers and developers but there are no actual publishers or developers that would want any of that.
-
And there is still that $100 price difference...
-
It's not region locked anymore. But to be honest, all this drama, and the 100 bucks difference which is huge, is gonna lead me to get a ps4 first, and down the road when i have cash again, an xbox one-eighty. JUST for killer instinct... and whatever other good exclusive they have. And I HATE sony with a passion.
-
I'm glad I already got Nintendos console, we'll see when they finish FFXV or KH3, then it might be worth getting a PS4. Or if I'm really lucky, they will be released on WiiU as well, Squares loyalty is kinda faltering lately.
-
Same. Purp and I were killing some monsters even though I kept getting disconnected most of the time... (stupid thunderstorm) And btw, you can change it to hear others voices in the online settings. I only chat with Marley, but chatting is easier to say things instead of typing in the heat of hunting lol
I have killer instinct for snes, but idk where the hell it is... :(

This, except I don't give a rat's *** about KI, and I only mildly dislike Sony.

I see your point, but I'm not trying to convince anyone or argue anything here. Just because they are for both systems has no bearing on me unless the quality of the PS4 one is truncated for the Xbone.
I am excited for the games regardless, and I would much rather have a PS4 than an Xbone, it's as simple as that.
