My FPS in this game has gone to **** since a few patches ago. It's lame.

Okay, I've had the craziest luck with this world.
I've already gotten diamond horse armor, three saddles, and some horses to go with 'em.
I also spawned about three feet away from a village with a blacksmith in it.
That's on top of a ravine.
This game would work with Hamachi, wouldn't it?

You know what? I think I'll just open my Hamachi world up to you guys. I'm assuming you're not massive dicks who will TNT the hell out of my world, so things should be fine.
Connect to either Hamachi networks Charas1 or Charas2 with the password Raffles. For those unfamiliar with joining a Hamachi world, you need to simply choose the Direct Connect option on the multiplayer screen and type in my IP as it appears in Hamachi (it should appear as 25.89.125.112).
While I don't think I'll have any set times of availability, anyone with Steam can send me a message requesting me to start the server up if it isn't already online. I'll try to keep it on between the hours of 12 PM and 12 AM (my time, which is 3:30 PM as of this post).
Ok, some ground rules: This is a vanilla server, and it already has a few residents. Anything that is not your property is not up for grabs, and unless a deal is made beforehand, there is no community sharing of resources. If you wish to barter for goods, that's fine. Don't just kick in someone's door and start looting. This should go without saying, but I need to do this to make sure.
I intend to make a backup of the server nightly. If something horrible happens, I'll be able to roll back the game by 24 hours. No more, no less. Please make a request for rollbacks on this thread.

Yeah, sorry about that. Sometimes the server crashes. If I'm around when it happens, I can have it back up in a matter of seconds (refresh the server list until it reappears), but it's not usually something that happens.

I've learned to shoot my creepers from a distance with a bow so they don't explode. I really want a horse though, but I can't even find a sheep :( I hope you don't mind me stripping your sheep in the mean time, like, they don't need there whool, do they?

There's a patch of horses, somewhere.
We can also find some gold and then breed them. They need golden carrots or apples to breed. Carrots are cheaper, though.

Have you tried looking for ways to improve performance (mods, texture packs, simple text file editing)? There are plenty of ways to squeeze a few extra FPS out of the game.

I've looked around a bit. Best suggestions I could find were the OptiFine mod (which I was hesitant to use, but I suppose I may give it a try) and decreasing video settings, which sucks and still give me **** (although better) FPS.
I tried giving Java higher priority or allocating more RAM to it, but it didn't change anything. I'm not too fond of using texture packs as I prefer keeping the game's original look.
I suppose I should try OptiFine...

Optifine is great.
Not only does it make the game faster (in most cases), it also has a TON of customizable options if you don't like a certain thing in Minecraft.
For instance, don't like the rain noise?
You can turn off THOSE particles while keeping on every other particles, killing the rain noise while still allowing to see smoke and potions.

You know you are good builder when the bridge someone else built outside your home in half the day you build your home is better looking that the home itself.

Don't forget that in order to do that, he also had to create an entire wheat farm during that half day to create the roof of the bridge...
On a side note, I really want to create a tardis in minecraft. The door will actually be a portal to the nether which will consist of a giant replica of the inside of the tardis. If only I could make blue doors, blue wood, and actually knew how to create a portal to the nether :(

Not exactly. If too much stuff is required, and too much stuff needs to be lessened, I just lose interest. I'd rather play with lower (but sort of decent-ish) FPS but somewhat okay graphics than play with high FPS but cheap texture, tiny field of view, no animation, etc. in which case I simply won't play at all.
But I tried OptiFine. It's not perfect, but far, far much better. I just need not to be lazy and I'll probably join up. Probably. Possibly.

Personally my graphics card can handle anything thrown at it, but if a mod will allow more people to play, I say it's worth investigating.

Yeah, I'm not interested into texture packs. I mean, sure, they look great, but I just prefer to keep the game as close to it's original design as possible, which is why I also skip any mods. Only exception is character skin.
However, since OptiFine changes nothing aside from adding video options and increased FPS, I went with it. I can now enjoy the game a bit more, although I still require short view distance in the open. But considering I had to set it at tiny and still had lower FPS, that's still really good. I just increase it to far when I need to see further and then change it back to short.

I'm happy to be able to both play the game at the highest settings with a great FPS (no less that 60) and run the server.

On a side note, I really want to create a tardis in minecraft. The door will actually be a portal to the nether which will consist of a giant replica of the inside of the tardis. If only I could make blue doors, blue wood, and actually knew how to create a portal to the nether :(

Also, make sure to change the nether portal soundfiles to the tardis sound for better accuracy.

As for the custom skin, any and all images, pictures, sprites, and whathaveyou will come in handy. There's really no limit to how many sources you can give me, especially if they show some alternate angles. I'll probably get started on it today.

I'm about half-finished with it at this point. There is a cape. There are currently only recycled arms and legs keeping it from being a proper skin. I'm currently parading through Minecraft with the skin on display for all to see.
I've made the hair look considerably better than when DB and Fruck first saw it.

They're not really even close to being the same game.
Terraria's an adventure game, Minecraft's a building game.

Very true. Terraria has goals and gear, an action RPG with building involved. Minecraft lacks a real progression, and is all about exploring, expanding, and being a sandbox for children and adults.
Both are incredible, though. If you haven't played either, Terraria is currently super-cheap due to Steam's Summer Sale (like, $5.00 USD0. Minecraft is never on sale, and is always something like $26 USD (that's about five times more expensive than Terraria's current sale price). They're both worth far more than their asking prices, though.

Terraria has more to it than Minecraft in many cases. Like bosses, accessories (double jump, flying, etc.), more furniture (bath, toilet, chairs, etc.), more equipment, etc. etc.
However, Minecraft also has a few thing Terraria lacks. First of all, it has 3D, which makes it much better for building stuff and exploring. The World is also infinite, which is a big plus. Then there is animals and crops; farm working is pretty fun.
If they could combine both game, it would be the best game... of the genre.

Got it before the sale ended. The concept is interesting and works really well. But they're kinda bad at explaining how things work. Like building houses. Sometimes they don't like my houses and sometimes they do.
And it feels like a lot of things come down to chance. Managed to find a bamboo straw that makes underwater breathing easier and recently double jump. Got like 4 stacks of copper bars and a full iron armor coupled with a golden broadsword and tools.
Is there any way to create checkpoints along the way btw? 'cuz dying deep below and ending up so far away at the top can be kinda annoying sometimes. Burrowed my way down till I found some evil hornets that made me poisoned and stuff. Also, I realized how useful glowsticks are too late.
This game will keep me occupied for a while.

If you build a bed and right click on it, it becomes your new spawnpoint. You could always build yourself a small cheap shack somewhere along the way and put a bed in there. This way, if you die, you'll be closer.
However, on the downside, you'll have to get back to the surface on your own. So it's a matter of preference.
Personally, I'd rather spawn where no worm can infiltrate my place.
Yeah, the lack of tutorial can be confusing. The Guide can always help you with how to build stuff, though. Show him a piece by choosing "Craft" and he'll show you all building possibilities with it. However, he won't show you the building possibilities of that piece after it's transformed until you show him the transformed piece itself. What I mean by this is, if you show him sand, he'll show you can build glass with it, but he won't show you that you can build bottles until you create glass and show it to him.
It's a bit difficult to know which areas are "safe" with your current equipment until you go there by yourself. You were in an underground Jungle, which is not recommended until you have better equipment. I usually go there after I made myself an armour and weapon set better than the gold one, and after I have more than 200HP. Else, I just get two shotted.
As for house building for NPC's. In most case, your room needs to bee 3-4 blocks high and about 8-10 blocks long (walls excluded), have a light source, a table/desk/etc. and a chair. The room needs to be closed (no opening at all, be it on the floor, walls, ceiling or back-wall (unless it leads to another room)) and have at least one door.
You could also always check the Terraria wiki. Lots of info in there, probably explained better than by me.

I'd love to make better armor but it requires a lot of bars. Made it round the jungle and into a lava place and then a place with demons who shot me for like 45. Also huge skeleton worms. Realized they were a bit to feisty for me.
As for house building for NPC's.
Yeah, but sometimes it feels like I've done just that but the game finds something wrong with it that I can't see. Also realized that the workbench doubles as a table and the toilet as a chair.

So right. I was going to post "Hey, what does it mean when it says ' an evil presence is watching you?'" but realized it after I died. Turns out the evil eye spawns and attack me every other night now. And my damage is too low so I only get it down to eyeball with mouth stage and then it leaves.
Also, found some demonite, not enough to make equipment though.
Thanks to the guide I finally realized the point of cobwebs.
I created a new world and made myself a huge castle, the evil eye kinda prevented me from doing that in peace in my other world.
Also finally found a hook to make a grappling hook, the game just got 400% more awesome.
What is the guide vodoo doll for? Tried to use it but nothing happened.
Can zombies actually break down doors or is it just for show?
I keep finding these statues underground that i steal and place in my houses, is there any way to make my own? kinda hate when things aren't symmetric.
How do I break those purplish blocks surrounding those glowing balls and around where you can find what looks like heads of sandworms stuck in the ground?

Check for any items that has "Material" in the description; these can all be used to build stuff. Some weapons or tools can be used for crafting, so make sure to check every item to see if it's labelled as "Material".

Yup, that's Hell. Come back there once you have much better equipment. But that, I see you learned on your own.
And yeah, armour sets do require lots of bars, especially if you plan on making the tools as well. I usually skip Gold armour until later in the game, where I don't need it anymore, because I find gold to be quite rare.
By the way, wearing a full armour set gives you a small bonus. For example, full Copper will give you an additional Defense point.
Oh and... make sure you put your armour in the right spot. The left one (or "Social") is only for aesthetic purpose. Pretty sure you figured that one out, but mentioning just in case. Armour put in "Social" won't break the set bonus of your actual armour set, but won't give you one either, of course.

I would recommend ranged weapons for this fella. A Gold or Silver bow should do the trick, but you can also use other stuff you may find. Damage isn't always the most important; some weapons can pierce and have a higher "rate of fire". See what seems to do a better job.
Oh and, Eye of Cthulhu has less defense while his mouth is open, so you'll do more damage at this point.
You could also always have people join to help you, but all bosses are solo-able.

It has two uses. If you equip it, you'll be able to kill the Guide. No real point there, but can be a stress reliever when your Guide keeps going outside and getting lost around the map.
The second use for it is much later. Not sure if you want to know or if you'd prefer to figure it out on your own, though. But it's definitely not for now.

If I recall, they can break it on Bloodmoons, but not on regular night. I'm not entirely sure, though. If your door is at least a block above ground, they won't knock on your door. I usually do this because it's God damn annoying.

Alas, no. Only craft-able statue is the Armor Statue. By the way, some statues actually have uses for them, but you require a certain NPC before.

Ebonstone. You need a specific tool for that. Tools that can destroy specific blocks will have it written in the description. Not sure if you would prefer figuring out by yourself or if you don't mind knowing which one.
