Title: So, Borderlands 2
Post by: Prpl_Mage on July 08, 2013, 03:38:06 PM
I just saw the fourth DLC campaign. It looks badass. Assault on Dragon Keep.

Just got the season pack because of if. Would've gotten it eventually but it simply looked too good to wait.

Funny thing, I just bought the game last night. Yeah, I found a timed deal for the game and the season pass for $10.

I mean, I also have the game on Xbox (a friend bought it so we could play it together), but I much prefer shooters with a mouse and keyboard, so I went for it.

Was fun while I played but I wouldn't buy the DLC for it.

With a game like Borderlands, I would say that you're missing out.

Yeah, them guys don't just release crap as DLCs. Their DLCs are what some companies would call "expansion packs" sometimes.

You're missing out, unless you're talking about the costume packs.
The extra characters are REALLY good, and the new storylines are pretty awesome.

This game makes me rage every time I play it, though.
It gets...so ****ing monotonous.

Luckily, Dragon's Keep changed that for a while.

I doubt I'm missing out. I had fun with Borderlands 1 but it got old when every turned a lot of the same. Same with Borderlands 2. It's a fun game, definitely worth a playthrough of about 40 hours, but I don't feel it deserves more than that. Plus, I can't really give much about the story, it was really bad.

I played through the first one with a friend and absolutely loved it. I bought the second one day one, and attempted the same, but my friends never waited for me, and our characters' levels got too far apart, and I was stuck playing missions 15 levels lower than me over and over again trying to catch up to them story wise.
Needless to say I got tired of that and quit playing. It was just too similar to the first game, I felt like the only differences were the characters' voices.

I have that problem with this style of game. Any time I play with friends, they'll often have already played through the game, or break away and start on their own quests, or otherwise end up on a different level from me. It kind of ruins the idea of playing alongside friends, and feels more like playing on my own, but with the ability for my friends to show up and finish a quest for me before I have a chance to really get it started. It sucks the fun out of things. Since Borderlands (unlike Diablo or Torchlight) requires all players to be in the same area, they'll always be ready to leave, in a rush to kill something new or turn in another quest, but I'll still be off exploring and looting and generally enjoying myself. It creates a bit of a divide, and it messes up the game for me. I've decided that for games like this, I'll stick to single player for my first run. Clearly, co-op is only fun once you've had your fill of the game already, and just want to experience it with friends without caring about what's going on.

Why didn't you guys just create characters that you only used when playing with eachother? That's how I and my brother always done it. So I have one character that i play on on my own, one one that I use when playing with him and a third one for this friend and a fourth one for when I'm playing with these two guys.

I don't think I'd ever try each class otherwise .

That doesn't solve the problem when it's my first time playing the game, or when my friends are still rushing through things that I'm not, or when they're off finishing quests that don't apply to me and give them a loot or level boost.

It's easy to organize and set rules for yourself, but you can't impose that sort of thing on other people.

By the way, I'd be more than happy to organize a party of 4 people to play through the whole game, as long as we can do it as a group.

Since I've only barely scratched the surface with my new PC character (level 6, I think), and if we actually stick to playing as a group instead of running off and doing our own things, I'm in.

I'm gonna have some trouble doing that because of the timezones (GMT+1)  y'know, I would be all on top of it otherwise.

And of course you can impose rules on other, otherwise they will reach lvl 40 while you're lvl 8 because school got cancelled one day or something. Just make sure that everyone gets it upon starting.

Also, steam sale is on, the season pass just got cheaper. Also, the game itself has dropped, together with tons of stuff.

I feel the same way, got Torchlight 2 when it was on the big discount and the latest tomb raider as well. That with the two bioshocks and other stuff will do well to occupy my time.

I somehow resisted the urge to get the new Tomb Raider, but this isn't the Steam thread, so I'm going to shut up now.
