Truth be told, I don't know if this is the right spot for this topic.
Whatever.
Anyways, Fish's game has led me to the conclusion that it would be fairly handy if we had a database of sorts for all of our various characters and whatnot, in case other people want to do cameos.
I believe we had something like this, once upon a time, but something or other got nuked and everything disappeared.
I'm going to lay down some ground rules, though:
All of your characters should go in one post. That way everything can be found easily.
Mark whether or not a character is representative of you, or is just a character in a project of yours.
Don't post too many characters. I think we'll know how much is too much when we get to it, I don't want to limit people unnecessarily.
Spoilers would be cool, but if any people are still having trouble with not seeing spoilers, let me know.

And on that note, I'm going to reserve a post to write down Fruck's biography and whatnot.
This will take a little while.

I have a **** ton of OC characters which I use for stories and stuff, but eh, I don't feel like making them cameos for non-related stuff.
-
So I like the idea, but I don't think it's a good idea to do it in a thread as it will become virtually impossible to navigate through a large thread to look for characters, especially if the thread is not stickied.
Maybe we could do something with google forms and spreadsheets? For example, anyone can fill out a form for a new character, the form could include charas username, character name, character description, graphics, etc. Once the form is submitted, your character gets added to a google spreadsheet that anyone can view and search through, but only the document owner (and other authorized users) can edit the form.
If anyone has any other ideas on how to create a charas database, I'm all ears. I could program something like this directly into charas in a day or so if I had access to the charas source code *cough* *cough*

This is great!

I think we should let DB screw around with our source code.
-
I think that's a good idea, too.
I'm still working on whatever, though.

Haha well in the past week I learned how to work with this thing called StackMob, and essentially it allows you to send and store pretty much anything to a free database, and retrieving the data is super simple. On top of that, it's free! Though if we wanted to use the charas database I could do that as well considering my current database designs are used by a few million people. If we did use StackMob for this, we would just need to create the form to submit data and a page to view the characters people submitted. Creating a solution for this problem that only used the charas database would take a few more days, but it is easily doable as well.
Like I said earlier though, at the very least, we could create a google form and spreadsheet to do the same thing, and as long as people had the link to the spreadsheet and form, we can accomplish the same thing.

Haven't we... haven't we had like five of these?
-
We had at least two, IIRC, one was a topic about graphic resources and the other was a topic about charcer backstories and attacks.
-
I'd say I agree with Grandy a fair bit on that.
I believe the latter topic was for Ed's game, Bout!
Don't quote me on that.
PS, fruck's a complicated dude.
I'm just going to say here, though, that he's not a miner. Never has been :|

Why did I never hear of these past projects?!? (no one mention that I was inactive for 5 years!)

You were inactive for 4 years.
Also. I'm not sure who could give DB the source Codes, Lucas perhaps?

Yeah he could, I talked to him about it in the past because I was working on a big charas overhaul (still am), but it's not something I want until I will actually work on it, and I'm not sure if there's enough interest in this yet to go ahead and develop a whole system for it.

Feels kinda redundant, specially when it's like ten active people on the forum.
-
Let me redundantly state how redundant this is. (http://primusdatabase.com/index.php?title=User:Bluhman)

When I met you, you were a dwarf who played mincraft. Thus you were a miner in my universe. I don't always make 100% accurate cameos unless I have data on the character. Sides bios change all the time depending on what traits we put into them. For example I never realized how much David's alien travels to other planets and dimensions could be usefull in a support role till I watched Doctor Who. This subtly changed him to not be so...gung ho and naive and to be more "Jedi Master" and less "Impulsive Knight". Less subtle changes were to his abilities. He used to use force lighting, a dark side ability, without any real explanation as to how it didn't corrupted him, I was provided a answer in the guide book "The Jedi Path" which told of a forbidden techique of barely controlled desire to do justice. It's called, and totally irony moment here, Emerald Lighting. o.O Now that's what he uses in both the games and my RPs. Now I also want to state that I'm all for a Charas database. It'd make future projects, Warped, The Misadventures, Dragonium's Castle and some others, much more easy to fill out. Don't get me wrong. I love using my own versions of people I know, but as Fruck proves I do sometimes get it wrong when they change/their nature was much more complex. Also I can't help but notice there are no bios XD So are we going with the google docs or are we going to have a collection here to b e posted on the front page?
