Posting here in case someone around is still interested in making games.

I've actually always been interested in Game Maker, but never [ahem] acquired it. Any reviews from peoples opinions I would actually listen to (namely the lovely people of this forum)?

Oh the full thing is free now? Gotta get it then. Been using the free trial thingy version for some time now and it was efficient in making games even without those options and commands that were locked for me. I think I still got a thread with some of my work.

One of the best things about Gamemaker is that you create objects that go into an archive type of things. So when you want that enemy you just pick it from the list and place it, it will have all the events and collisions that you made for it, and this is especially nice since variables are local unless otherwise specified, meaning that several identical monsters can have their own life bars and attack patterns without it becoming a synchronized dancing party.
Edit. Seems like it's no more free than last time I checked.

Doesn't seem free to me, unless you count the version that has always been free.

Here's how to get it (http://www.destructoid.com/yoyo-offers-gamemaker-studio-standard-edition-for-free-266469.phtml)

That link suggests you use Steam to do it, and not only did I not use Steam to activate mine, but supposedly on their own how-to page they state that the deal is not extended to Steam.

Ah, I haven't tried it myself. Feel free to post the correct link so the fine folks of charas can get it.
-
damn, I actually got excited there for a second.

I thought game maker was ok but I much prefer flash.
Anyhow grandy, 'still interested in making games'? Seems a bit harsh. There's a few active game projects still floating around : p
