Hey. It's your beloved and terribly inactive admin... Ellie.
First, I apologize for not having been on Charas at all since forever. Okay, now for the hard part.
Most of you know me as Lucas. But truth to be told, I've never really been one hundred percent comfortable living as Lucas. There was always a little something in the back of my head reminding me that this was not who I really was.
I'm a woman, and for the past three months I've been going through Hormone Replacement Therapy so that my appearance matches how I feel on the inside. It's not easy, it's definitely not cheap, but... It's necessary, and the results have been making me happier and happier.
For those who're interested, I started a comic on tumblr about my transition in February, and you can find it here (http://transgirladventures.tumblr.com/). I might not be updating it anymore, due to some personal reasons. However, I did start a new comic, which is about my life with my boyfriend, who is also trans, and you can find it here (http://chrisandellie.tumblr.com/).

I'd be lying if I said I could accept you as anything other than what you are/were, but I'd be lying if I said I would stop liking you for doing what you're doing. I'm sure you (and anyone else who knows me) know that I'm a rather accepting guy, and that I don't hate anyone, but I do have the controversial view towards transgenderism, and I don't want to simply ignore that. As far as I'm concerned, it changes nothing about a person, the same as with any other cosmetic surgery. Elephant in the room, I know, but all I can say is that to me, you'll always still be Lucas, despite your outward appearance (sorry).
That bit of uncomfortable ranting out of the way, congratulations on taking a step forward in your life to become the person you want to be. I'm proud of you for being able to come out and tell us this; it must have taken a lot of courage to admit it to anyone other than yourself.

I'm not shocked (hints have been dropped), though it's not exactly expected.
-
In all seriousness I've immensely proud of you. It's a hard thing to do! I just couldn't resist the youtube clip, is all.
Talk on some sort of messenger if you want, since we haven't had a good chat in ages.
-
I was kind of wondering why you'd name yourself as "Ellie" on Steam. I thought it was only a character named on your initials (Or at least that's how you'd pronounce "L.I." in French) or something.
I'm not really sure what to say. I guess I'm kind of in the same position as Archem here.
I have no less respect for you, it's just, well... very unexpected. And adapting to calling you Ellie might take some time.
On the other hand, as others have said, congratulations for actually stepping up toward being the person you want to be, and for having the courage to admit so rather than just vanish without a word or something.
Cheers.

Now I feel like a bad friend for not keeping enough in touch with you.
But why not Lucy?
I'm also okay with this of course, if this is what you feel that you gotta do, then do it.
-
Congratulations on customizing your consciousness-carrying biological unit to suit your desired functionality!
(That was pretty alliterative until the middle-right)
Also, I like your drawing style. Pretty snazzy.

I'm happy that you are allowing yourself to be who you really feel yourself to be. It takes a lot of courage to go through with anything like this, and even putting yourself out there for the entire internet to see and read about is amazing. I wish the best of luck to you and Chris on your journey through this!
-
**** yeah! That explains why you've been absent for so long. :P
I'm really happy for you. You got my full hearted support, Ellie!

Whatever floats your boat.

Whatever floats your boat.
Pretty much this. Why not the name Luca though? Would be the obvious choice.
-
So in some MMOs, you can just spend $10 to make these kind of changes to your character instantly. Too bad it isn't that easy for you in real life :(
Anyway, good for you! I know it'll probably be pretty rough for a little while yet, but good luck, and I hope all goes well!
-
you go girl

That explains that dick thing a few months back.
Now, back to administrating the forum, eh?
-
Now, back to administrating the forum, eh?
I have no idea what you're talking about.
Son of a bitch.
-
I think to be politically correct, you'd have to say "Daughter of a bitch" at this point.
-
I've never been known for my political correctness, and I've already stated my intention to continue seeing him as, well, a him. My policy is as simple as "until we can change a Y chromosome to an X chromosome (and vice-versa), I don't recognize gender changes".
Like I said, I hold a controversial view on the subject.
-
"Daughter of a bitch"
Is that even a saying?
-
Is that even a saying?
Actually, no. "Son of a" is usually taken off in such cases.
Alternatively, "Puppy" might be a more appropriate term when referring to a female dog's offspring.
-
It's not bigotry, it's biology. You can't change what you are without changing things on a much smaller level. There's no hatred, no thoughts of nonacceptance, just a belief that it doesn't really matter. I see attempts at transgenderism as the same thing as tattoos or piercings. They're exclusively physical changes, and if it makes you feel more comfortable in your own skin, that's fine, but I don't see it as a change.
-
Good job having the courage to change. Good luck with any therapy and hormone treatment you might go through.
-
Take offense if you want, I've stated where my opinions lie.
-
I have a pretty good feeling about Lucas-Ellie's ability to handle the general confusion and disagreement with this change.
-
Gotta agree with lucas here, sex is biological. Gender is a social construct. In India there are three recognized genders. Gender binaries tend to be reinforced by language and are associated with sex to further validate these binaries, but they are not the same. There's also the complication of people born intersex. These things may be rare, but that alone doesn't invalidate them. So, it's not really a matter of opinion or even one that science agrees with. This whole field of study has a ton of research that is readily accessible.
-
Unfortunately what India does kinda don't count seeing how they recriminalized homosexuality and bisexuality around Christmas last year. Also, from what I learnt, the third gender thing they recognized is rather a low caste group of people, mostly boys thrown out of from home because of their sexuality who live under bad conditions where most of them have to resort to prostitution. But you might be referring to something else.
I think what Archem might be getting at is that the change is mostly a physical one. And he will continue to regard Ellie as how he have always regarded him. Much like he wouldn't treat a person differently simply because they get some ink or a piercing.

That's a better understanding of what I feel, yes. Appearances are skin deep, and I'm not one to judge based on that. However, that does lead me to see a person as what they are beneath the skin, and that's why I tend to disregard transgenderism as little more than cosmetic body modification. I can't see a person as a new version of themselves because the person inside hasn't changed in any way, they just have a new wrapper on the outside. Coke in a bottle and Coke in a can, it's still Coke, and the container doesn't change anything about it.
-
Do whatever makes you happy, as long as it's not harming anyone else. You only get one life, you should be entitled to live it the way you want.
However, choices like these are permanent. For a decision like this, you will face the consequences of your actions for the rest of your life. (That comes off a bit more harsh than I intend to, but I can't think of a better way to phrase it.) Make sure that you're being responsible.
That said, I'm happy for you. Never live life as anyone other than yourself.
-
You only get one life, you should be entitled to live it the way you want.
Unless you believe in reincarnation. Like a bunch of billion people do.
-
Those people are saps. We're doomed I tell you DOOOOMED!

I mean... I get that, but what if you drank Coke out of a Pepsi can your whole life and one day was told the truth? Would you drink Coke out of its proper can and tell people you were drinking Pepsi?
And also, there are a lot of people that well fight you to the grave about their not being a difference between coke in a can and coke in a bottle. I have friends who swear by Coke in a can being a thousand times better, and other friends who swear by Mexican coke being a thousand times squared better.
uh... weird analogies ftw.
Also, Jesus, I did not know about that whole India thing. I mean, I knew they had some kind of a cringe-worthy caste system going on but that's pretty brutal.

I don't drink cola.

You go girl. If, as a result of this decision, you are enjoying life more, then you are totally doing it right.
That said, when did you make Administrator? That **** is unacceptable.
I've missed you, Charas swear filter.

That Coke analogy made no sense, try again.
-
His or mine?
-
Charas.... _veryangry_
-
His or mine?
Specifically this:
I mean... I get that, but what if you drank Coke out of a Pepsi can your whole life and one day was told the truth? Would you drink Coke out of its proper can and tell people you were drinking Pepsi?
I mean it's close but not quite fully baked.
-
Razor is right
-
I thought it seemed wonky, too, but I just figured I was an imbecile.
-
Razor's right.
That was a terrible analogy. I played the cards I was dealt!
-
That's why you should always have something up your sleeve.
I don't drink cola.

A transgenderism announce from an admin in a RP forum makes just perfect sense to me!
But back to real life, I'm more than confident this was not a light decision to take. So, no matter what, I sincerely wish you all the best :)

You only get one life, you should be entitled to live it the way you want.
You're not entitled to anything in life though, except death.
