Title: Whatcha guys thinking about E3 so far?
Post by: Prpl_Mage on June 10, 2014, 08:11:33 PM
I'm guessing people are hooked with E3 as I am.

Two new characters for smash again, Kid Icarus goddess (for some reason) and 3 battle types for your Miis. Also, the 3ds version has been delayed will the Wii u version has been moved to "the holidays" whatever that means (probably christmas).

Bayonetta 2 will come with bayonetta 1.
New Lara croft will kill without a bother in the upcomming game.
The Witcher 3 looks rad.
Developers are still putting in super gory stuff.
The new mortal kombat looks fantstic.
FF7 bike chase will become a game of some sort.
Pictures of the new open world zelda game.
Gamecube controller adapter for wii u with a heft cost for all them peeps.

Pacman announced as well. I have to admit that he looks better than I feared he would.

If they keep this pace up during E3 we're probably gonna have our captain falcon soon.

Why do we have a thread that is basically the All of All board? Now it makes the forum look even more dead.

Well it started out as some sort of "hey guys how do you feel about this stuff?" and then I kept adding stuff to it that didn't seem important enough to get its' own thread (like bland VX games on steam) and then we got a bit off topic and then we stuck to a topic and then we started a new topic. And then it's been a sort of "hey, this is on sale".

Well look at that, I actually could split threads in the all of all. So there we go, new thread. E3 stuff.

Board looks way more alive like this.

On-topic: I watched the five big conferences (Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Sony and Nintendo). Beyond that I haven't seen much save for a trailer here and there (yay Doom!). All in all I'm quite excited for the new bunch of games coming. While I'm not getting an Xbox One any time soon (if ever, I don't feel like Microsoft has redeemed itself enough) they are getting some cool games. Some highlights all in all are: Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3, Metal Gear Solid V, Rainbow Six, Battlefield: Hardline, Bloodborne, The Order 1885 (though I would've loved to see some more gameplay), Mortal Kombat X, The Division and a lot more. Overall been a good E3 so far and we're in for a big variety of good games.

The new Rainbow Six looks promising. They have the destruction I've wanted Battlefield to adopt for years with the tactical (I hope) gameplay that I long for in my shooters. I want a SWAT 5, but that'll never happen, so if this game delivers, I'll be one happy camper.

Oh, and the new Zelda looks tits.

The new Link looks like he should have tits as well.

Blood Borne looks cool.

Other than that, nothing new really tickled my fancy.

I'm sad that Square didn't do much, nothing about FFXV or Kingdom Hearts 3. So still no reason to purchase a PS4 yet.

I'm sad that Square didn't do much, nothing about FFXV or Kingdom Hearts 3. So still no reason to purchase a PS4 yet.

I'd like to reiterate Type-0 finally getting a western release on the PS4, but also mention that the badass motorcycle minigame from FF7 is getting it's own over the top standalone game for iOS and android  (I wouldn't normally care about this one but I finally got a decent cell phone by hitching a ride on my brothers plan).

I would say that overall in terms of new and surprising things this e3 was rather disappointing.  Microsoft did nothing to impress me, but they rarely do.  Sony even teased me with the potential next-gen Crash Bandicoot game (only to be revealed to be Uncharted 4, a nice surprise to be sure, but certainly not Crash Bandicoot.)  Nintendo certainly impressed me, but most of what was presented were things already shown or gained confirmed release dates.  The few things that were truly new were either teasers for something potentially awesome (new Zelda), things that look kinda cool but look more like eShop titles that will lose their appeal after a few sessions (Splatoon and that Toad game), or generally uninteresting (Mario Maker and Mario vs. Donkey Kong)  Atlus presented me with my lovely Persona Q premium edition, already pre-ordered on Amazon, but no mention of Persona 5.

Smash gets its own paragraph naturally.  I'm a bit wary of Pac-Man's announcement if only for the fact that I got the impression he may have been bumping Game and Watch.  If Game and Watch was confirmed playable, I would have assumed it would have happened during or shortly after that announcement. G&W is/was my main, so this is why this is an important factor for me.  My brother is certainly psyched for the Mii, and we are already mass producing entertaining Miis to use in battle, and Palutena certainly looks like she will play interestingly enough.  I'm still hopeful the reason they pushed back the release date of the 3DS version was to include other characters, but I'm still skeptical on that front.  We have a roster of 33 already, but I suppose I can expect around 10 more characters.  Without a doubt this is the game I'm looking forward to most to be released this year.

I would have to say the biggest disappointment for me thus far would have to be Code Name: Steam recently shown.  From the description I heard the day prior I had high hopes.  With names behind it responsible for games like Fire Emblem, Pokemon, and Xenoblade, and being described as a handheld Valkyria Chronicles, there should be nothing to stop me from playing.  Well I'm judging a book by it's cover.  Aesthetically this game is ***-ugly.  Fugly.  Pug-fugly.  I can't see myself getting invested in it because of this glaring flaw, and that upsets me.  Superficial to be sure, but the hearts wants what it wants.

Read at your leisure. tl;dr oooog pops in for his two cents nobody asks for that will likely be highly disliked and discredited.

Also Nintendo strongly suggests new Metroid, both 2D and 3D in the future, new Star Fox on the Wii U to be shown at a later date, and they hear their fans in regards to Majora's Mask 3DS.

and being described as a handheld Valkyria Chronicles,

But there are two handheld Valkyria Chronicles already.

But there are two handheld Valkyria Chronicles already.

And they were both wonderful, albeit one hard-as-balls franchise as a collective.  But is three (now four) games enough for what could be argued as a new sub-genre of the tactics format?

I definitely liked what i saw with the new zelda.  I'm not sure about Link's character design, but I'm sure he will grow on me like Toon Link has.  He's probably like 13-15.  I recommend watching the GameXplain analysis on the zelda trailer.  Shows a good bit of details you probably missed.

I didn't want Pacman or Miis in smash, but after seein what Sakurai has done with them, i'm not even mad.  3ds version looks pretty damn good so I'm very curious about the wii u only features.  I'm happy with Ike's return and looking husky with his radiant dawn model.  I really really hope Jigglypuff gets cut though.  Most likely Snake is gone as well, maybe event he Ice Climbers.

Really looking forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X.  I like how they made ship from USA though lol.  But for the love of god, don't give us voice actors from england again, no offense.

Really? Loved the fact that they had some fresh blood reagarding the voice actors. You get kinda tired of hearing the same "talents" over and over.

The puff doesn't represent pokemon though. The others are main characters to their series. As for the voice acting, they should use all sorts of accents.

Im mad that Fox still has his old FS and DK with his useless FS.

I'm thinking about grabbing a Wii U when I get paid as I'm guessing there wont be a price-drop between now and Smash Bros. (September 13th I think over here.) Grab whatever bundle they offer over here, and get Mario Kart 8 and New Super Mario 3D World or whatever it's called this time.
