since the introduction to steam, looks like all downloads of rpg maker 2k3 have been removed and replaced with "buy now" downloads starting at $19.99.
thats a 2000% increase in price ;D

That's not how percentages work.

There are still some free versions out there.

Well... If one wants something free one could use RPG 20XX...

Well to be fair they weren't really free before. It's just a pirated copy of a Japanese software with a fan translation.

Hmm so that's why they were destroying all links to the pirated Tsukuru version. I suspsected they did it to make us all switch to the Steam version to make a profit off even the most stubborn of makers

XD Said the fellow who once was known for saying 1000% as his catch phrase in my day!

Given how much enjoyment we all got out of it, it's probably worth the money : p

As someone who recently moved all their 2K3 projects over to the official Steam version, I feel obligated to say that people are definitely missing out if they're still using the pirated versions. The new version fixes a whole bunch of problems with what we had before (especially the speed of the ATB bar during battles, which is by far the best improvement ever!) and also adds a bunch of cool new functionality (such as being able to directly copy/paste eventing to text so that you can quickly create tutorials or show-off your code). The official version is really nifty :D
