Here is the 1st screen shot of the game, so it gives you an idea.
-
Here's the 2nd Screenshot. This is one of the battle systems. There are three different kinds of battle systems in this game: Chrono Trigger Like, Duels, and Wars. The Chrono Trigger fighting system is where you can see where the enemies are, and if you touch it, you're thrown into a custom battle sequence that uses events. This battle system is the screenshot posted below. The second is Duels, which is where it'll give a choice of attacks to use, one move is weak to another, so, you have 1/3 chances to hurt the enemy. The third is a Wartype battle system, where you can walk up to the enemy and attack it. It can attack back too.
-
Here is the 3rd screenshot. This is a screenshot of the Duel battle system. This is the first duel you will get into in the game, so you can get a feel for it. I will post more screenshots upon request. And be specific on what you want them on.
-
give us a little bit of the story line
ok?
-
It takes place when demons came onto the earth and they're fighting the humans. The main character is a lone warrior named Taneka. His parents were murdered by a demon when he was 11, and he seeks revenge. He helps out various countries by doing so. Everyone in the entire world has a quest for Taneka to do, but Taneka will only do so if money is given in return. There is a main quest to this game and there are bunches and bunches of side quests. There are lots of mini-games. There is also an arena where you can go and join in fighting competitions. As I said up above, the fighting system is custom to be Chrono Trigger like. There are riddles too in the game if you're a fan of riddles. You have to figure out some riddles that you get to inherit new and much more powerful weapons. The game has 6 different endings. The ending will depend on how much of the game you completed. You have to do the main quests and all of the side quests to get 100%. But if you get any lower, you will see a totally different ending. Say you only do the main quest, you will get an ending for that and that only. But the number of side quests you do will affect your ending, kinda like Final Fantasy X-2. This game is only 25% complete and will need a lot more work. Mostly what I've been doing is getting some sets to make the graphics look more realistic. Right now, I'm working on the battle system. It's going to take me a while, lol. Anyways, it's going to be a good game, you can count on that!! :)
-
How many battle systems do u have in this? I got 2 in mine....a duel system and the default system(i need to change that). I want like...a zelda style battle system but with a party. know what I mean? :|
-
I'm sorry to say this, but your storyline is VERY cliched. I know you're putting alot of effort into the multiple endings and battle systems and so on, but trust me, a little storyline tweaking can be for the best. Try adding things like... a REASON for the demons to attack earth, or unauthordox main characters.
When I play a game with a really cheesy story, I barely make it past 4 minutes before deleting it.
On a positive side, this looks to be a very involving game, with all the side-quests and such.
BTW: HOW THE HELL DID YOU MAKE A CT BATTLE SYSTEM?!?! :yell: :yell:
-
yeah.....what the giant dude sezzz
you need to make the story a bit.......complicated
you know???
like: why does his parents get killed and why are the demons come to earth, and where do the demons come from......why the heck are they on earth anyway???
i don't say i hate the storyline but........a little more story will be good for the game, you and the people who play it;)
-
Hey, y'all may think that the storyline sucks. But, you say that you want more info on it. BUT!! I don't want to give everything away, like how the demons came onto earth. Plus, with the main character's dying, there's a cutscene in the beginning of the game to show you how it happened. Okay? Just ask questions. I got it all figured out. The storyline is awesome. There are so many twist and turns in this game just like in final fantasy, you wouldn't believe it.
Plus:
The Chono Trigger battle system, I really don't want to give that away right now, but it takes A LOT OF WORK!!!! I might put out an tutorial for it, so, just stand by.
-
A CT style system is simple.
-Use charsets and/or pictures for the chars and enemies.
-Use common events for the dual/tri techs.
-Use pictures for the menus.
-A couple of innovations for the ATB.
It's just that simple. The problem is the coding, which I will not tell you.
-
Exactly, I'm going to put out the tutorial out for the coding and the pictures and all of that crap.
-
Okay, it's been like since April when I last posted on this thread, so I'm going to restart it. The game is still getting closer. The thing with the storyline is, yes, the main character is looking for revenge. He lives by himself. After the main character ran a local gang out of his hometown, he learns that the emperor of the largest capitol on the continent was just murdered. He was told by the emperor's son. The son doesn't want the world to know about it yet, because with the demons on the land, all hell would break loose. Taneka decides to help out the emperor's son, for a price of course. Taneka takes on missions, for instance, killing the traitors who killed the emperor, and taking the capitol's army to defeat the nearest demon army.
Not too much info is given about the demons in the first half of the game. Nobody truly knows who the demons got on the land yet. The first half of the game has to do with traitorous acts, finding allies, completing missions, gaining gold, etc. The second half is when the storyline actually comes out to make sense with everything else. That was why I was afraid to tell anyone the plot spoilers.
The Chrono Trigger battle system has failed for me. When I sat down for hours thinking of how to code it out, it's just not possible as I want it to be with Kingdom of Chaos. RPG Maker can only show a max of 20 pictures at one time. How can I show the items when the player clicks on the item menu. I know probably a lot of you have lots of ideas for that, but I'm on the search for a new and original battle system. I've excluded all battles right now to work on everything else. I'm saving the battles for last.
If any of you have original ideas for a battle system, your more than welcome to share.
More screenshots will be added soon.....
I'll keep you posted....
Oh, and what Red Giant said earlier, what he suggested is exactly what I'm doing. With the killing of the main character's parents, you just know that he wants revenge. He's not leaping from rock to rock looking for the demon. He doesn't mention it during every conversation. No, it's not that at all. So, don't worry about it being cliched. The only thing is, the beginning of the game introduces that. That's all.
-
Assassinations cannot be stoped in this world. What is the world coming to?
-
This is an awesome battle scene that I spent a lot of time on.
-
Even the deadliest of fighters need help at times.
-
Was it the creators of Fable who stole my idea, or was it me who stole their idea.
No, I started this game before they started Fable. So, they stole it from me. Oh well, as long as it's not the same characters as mine.
P.S. - If you have any ideas for a good battle system, check out RPG Maker 2k forum.
-
I finally found an awesome battle system.
Everytime the hero touches an enemy wondering around the screen, he will be transported to another map where the enemy will attack with CBS and do special moves. The hero will able to use his sword and a special. Every level that the Hero has, has a different special. So, like if he is on level 13, he'll have for instance, Flame Touch, and if he levels up to 14, he'll have Earth Rush. Just an example. But, everytime you run into an enemy, before you battle, you get to choose which character you want to battle with. After the character finishes the battle, that character will get the experience.
So, what do you think?
Every monster will have a different special move to use. More than move, though, that'll take a lot of brainstorming.
-
The game looks awesome except for one thing...
Your maps are a bit empty they need to be filled in with npc and life.
-
If you had an idea on what was going on during the screenshot, you'd probably understand. But I am still in the midst of construction.
Thanks for the tip though.
-
Okay, the battle system thing, I'm going to go with what I just thought up a while ago that's two posts above, but it's going to be chrono trigger style, if you all know what I mean.
But, I'm going to need character stances and attacking stances, and that's it. I can create everything else, except those. So, I'm asking for help here, if anyone can help me with that. I will post your name in the credits if you help. I would really appreciate it.
P.S.
Carnosa,
I took what you said into consideration and it looks a lot better with what I've done. Thanks man.
P.S.S.
The Kingdom of Chaos site is up and going. That doesn't mean it's this design I want it at right now, it means that you can go to the site and download the Kingdom of Chaos demo. That's all.
-
I quit the Chrono Trigger battle system long ago because the maximum amount of pictures you could show was 20. And I couldn't work with that. But now I have another way to do it and it requires less pictures. I'm almost done with making it, and it should work pretty soon now.
It's a lot better than what I have on my demo, or most people think so.
-
Here's a screenshot of my new battle system and the one I am going to stick with. I am not giving up on it.
-
Dont steal my idea but have you ever thought about dimensions? or planes?
If youve ever played dungeons and dragons youd probably know about the astral and ethereal planes? maybe you could could have temporal gates where the demons come through from the planes?
just a thought
-
Actually, my idea was the demons just come from hell, or another realm.
The demons come from there.
-
technically hell would be a plane rite?
but how are they gonna get from hell to the real world?
-
The thing is, I haven't got right to that yet. During the game, the kingdoms are imposing a civil war and I'm consentrating on that right now. The demons are still on the earth, but they are strengthening.
-
shouldnt you really start from the start?
-
What?
What I mean is, I concentrate on one thing, once I get it all done. I stop and go to school and brainstorm there, write it all down, and put it into my game.
-
ah . . school
-
Yeah.
And by the way, I just finished my character selection screen AND IT IS TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!!!!
I've never seen anyone make character selection screen like this before on RPG Maker.
-
do you have a screen shot then?
-
I don't know if I should post one or not.
Hmm...maybe I should just wait until my full version releases.
-
I'm thinking about adding a teleport system to it. If none of you know what that is: It's a system where you can teleport to different cities in an instant. But, in order to teleport, you must have already been to the city.
Does anybody think this is a good idea?
I already got it planned out, so, I'm fine with coding it.
-
I don't want to sound mean or anything, but this is something that Arcanagirl just talked about for her game. Now, I know it's already used in many other games, but you didn't just read her idea and now just think of it yourself did you? If you didn't sorry for the accusation, but like I said, she just put that in her thread not too long ago. It is a cool idea though, good luck with it.
-
Arcanagirl? No, I was just playing Fable one night and thought about a teleport system. No, I don't like to steal ideas, I like them to be original as possible.
-
Ok, well that's good to know. Sorry for the accusation, it was just coincidental I guess.
-
Okay, before I go jumping any further into the teleport system. I just need to know what people's opinions are.
I've played a lot of RPG Maker games and hardly seen any teleport system ones. So, is it going to be a good thing or a bad thing for the game?
-
New update on my game!
On the character selection screen, you choose which character you want to be, and you'll actually walk around as that hero and talk to people and they'll recognize you as that person. I haven't seen an RPG Maker game do that before, so I'd thought to give it a try.
Any comments?
