Title: BattleChar Generator v1.1.0 is here! For real, this time!
Post by: JeremaiSealocke on May 01, 2003, 04:00:03 AM
It's finally uploaded and ready to go! The install file is about 0.98 MB, and installation takes about 1.26 seconds. The install file installs the program itself, and three .OCX files needed for the program to run. None of these files will interrupt or damage your computer in any way, and the .OCX files will actually make your computer capable of running more programs in the future!

Anyway, you can download the program at http://nautilusproductions.tripod.com/

Just go to the BattleChar Generator Resources page.
http://nautilusproductions.tripod.com/battlechar.html

Once again, we can't actually do much until somebody starts us all off with a body template. If someone would just take "Male Hero" from the RM2k3 RTP, we could all get started. I'm currently working on my own body template, but it could take a while... I'm counting on somebody here!

Anyway, have at it! Sorry for all the delays! :hi:

Also, just for my reference, after you try it out, could you please respond to the poll?

It gives no OCX.files by me ...  :|

I'll try ripping the Male / Female RTP.

EDIT:
Could you add a description on how to add resources yourself? And if you can't, could you add a function to add resources yourself?

EDIT2:
Already found out, but as GPI once said, it's nice if it had PNG support. There are plug-ins for that.

EDIT3:
What program did you use?

In which OS are ypu working?
I've win2000, and the install file says "program too big for memory".
Is that a dos-based installer? If so, may you provide a zip file with necessary files without installation one?

Setzer: The .OCX files automatically go to your C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/ folder. If they weren't there, you wouldn't have been able to run the program.

GaryCXJk:
1 - Actually, all you can use are custom resources. Just click on the buttons on the far left of the window to upload a resource.

2 - Okay, I'll play around with PNG. Might take some time, depending on what I can find. By the way, I found out that both .GIF and .JPG also work.

3 - The program was created in Visual Basic 5.0, on Windows XP Professional.

Alex: Hmm... that's strange. Sure, I'll get a .ZIP file up and running as soon as I can. Of course, that means you'll have to manually put the .OCX files where they belong, but I'll include a readme.

General: Also, I noticed that the window size seems to change on different computers, and the window is far too big for use on 800x600 resolution. I'll get straight to work! Expect "Save w/Background Color" and "Transparent Layer" functions on the next update!

Hmmm... that sucks... oh well... maybe there will be a modification or something, or even a version 2...

In order to keep down on the size of the program, I will probably refrain from including every single resource I get. BUT, I WILL include body templates in each update.

where do you post your creations?

.OCX = Active X ?

When yes: Change this!

Once somebody posts a body template on the BattleChar Resource Forum at http://nautilusproductions.tripod.com, you simply need to reply to the topic in which the body template was posted with your resource.

Here is a sample body template resource. This is the first half of the CrossBlade body template I'm working on. Notice how since the size and order of this set is different from that of the RM2k3 RTP, it will have resources of its very own.

:bend: Dude, you the man  :bend:
now, people won't have to suffer from requesting stuff anymore!
Nice job man, i give a rating of 11 out of 10! maybe a 20 out of 10! but no resources yet...so we better wait and see...

P.S: Chubby Battle Charset aren't my type but hey, he deserves all the positive compliments given by all the people here...and, it'll improve and improve more and more and more and MORE!!!

I'd be glad to try to help out in making TALL battlecharsets, if it's ok with you...but, it'll take me about 30 mins to 2 hours making bodies and POSES...it's pretty important if you ask me about the poses...i haven't mastered it yet but hey, practise makes perfect right? i'll go on right to work once you give me your reply...and the other properties like hairs, clothings...etc, other spriter will have to make it for me...the one's i'm gonna make are gonna be 20% solid looking, i tell you that...

Good Luck on your program mate,
X-F3R
Title: Faster program and Definition of ETC resources.
Post by: JeremaiSealocke on May 02, 2003, 04:20:03 PM
Sure thing. I'll turn the timer down a notch. Of course, this will make the program look like its running slower, but it will actually cut back of memory consumption by a ton. Also, the ETC resource would be the drops of sweat when the hero gets hit, the magic barrier stuff when using a skill, etc. I may make this a seperate category so that actual ETC resources can be used (wings, halos, swords...)
Title: thanx
Post by: Fazza on May 02, 2003, 05:14:09 PM
Thanx. Thus helps alot. Unlike RPG Maker 2k you have to find a matching face set with the character set but on RPG Maker 2k3 U have 2 find a character set, face set and even battle character set.

I couldn't get it to work...
After the little splash intro I get a "Runtime error '50003' Unexpected Error"  Do you know why this might be?  If not, no big deal.

Hey what type of program is this?
How the hell do i use it? At least include a readme
file at least. 1 more thing. Why not open a single topic
for the resources of this app. Now the resources are scattered
everywhere but if its under a single topic it would be so much
more easier 4 all of us fellas here. Oh & yeah like the charset generator, u can have an update file 2 so ppl dont have to go
looking 4 resources & can Download them just by a single click.
Thanx 4 listening.

Especially not a year (nearly 2 years!) old. Read rules and examples for a simplified definition of a topic kick, I believe I provided.
