Title: Problems on the 8 charaset saver?
Post by: Alex on February 02, 2003, 12:12:41 PM
Hi there.
Some users report me some strange behaviour of the saver.
Seems that sometimes the generated resource is BMP instead of PNG and that the choosable bgcolor doesn't work (i mean, white BG evenif you choose green RTP).

It works fine for me, and i've never had these troubles.
Here i attach 2 images, directly saved from the 8 saver: i didn't edit them in any way, SO it works (at least for me).

Anyone else here has these problems?

Please let me know

Mine is like that. It makes a white background instead of green and it makes it bmps instead of pngs.

Some browsers automatically convert PNG into BMP.

Stupid? Very.

I don't have a problem though, and it works fine for me.

So it seems to be a diffused browser problem....
I think that the bg problem is related to the BMP one.
I've tested the engine with Netscape 4.7 and Explorer 5, and it works fine.
So, if you experience this problem, simply open the BMP img with idraw, change the first color in palette (it should be the famous white) to your desired color and save it as PNG.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but unfortunatly it's not my fault. ;)
Title: Another problem

I seem to have found another problem. When I make the 8 Characterset Image, then right click and Save Picture As, if I don't put ".png" at the end of what I name it, it becomes some weird type of file with no extention. I right clicked on it in my hard drive and went into Properties, and it says "File type: file". o_0 Does anyone else have this problem?

FFL2and3rocks: if you rename the file to .png it works?
If not, what if you rename it as bmp?

GaryCXJk: i've tryed it many times with NS, all is ok here... Do you ALWAYS receive only blank pages?

It also works if I put .bmp at the end, but I always wanted it as a png, so I never tried that until I tested it just now.

Yep. Always. Dunno why. Luckily I always use IE and MSNE, but for some odd reason it just won't let me use Flash anymore...

Have you installed quicktime?
I saw that it has a flash plugin and it associates flash movies with it. And obviously, it DOESN'T work....
I'va seen that re-install of flash is not useful to fix it, only way was to uninstall QT.

I have uninstalled Quicktime (damn Quicktime!) but still nothing!

Anyways, a suggestion: Since rmb on a hyperlink, then save mostly works, maybe you could make it open in a new window with the picture, and below "Save Image", so that you can rmb save on it. Just like you can save images with 1 character.

If you want to find out... I found the Rm2K3 at  [removed link].

[EDIT BY GPI:]
i found this sentence at the page:
>i cannot put the downloads up until i get permission from
>Enterbrain

And i dont think, that he get that permission. When he get the permission he would public the e-mail (or something like this) from Enterbrain.

Please don't sent any link to illegal downloads. I don't know, how the laws are in italy, but in german you can get realy big trouble.

Well, I think that it mostly comes because of the browser. I'll try it with other browsers than Internet Explorer and Nestcape. Maybe I'll see why it doesn't work. But always try multiple browsers.

With Netscape all will go fine.
I've found an article which explains that IE has buggy png support....

In response to Alex saying: i don't know if 2003 charaset's format is equal to 2000 ones or not.

Yes, both Rpg Makers use the same charaset format, and allot of other things are the same as well (Background, special/magic anims, chipset. etc.). Hope that helps.
