I've opened... a chat! ;)
It works online, using a flash based engine.
Taken from (and so thanks to):
http://www.develooping.com
Have fun! (if someone will use it.. XD)
How do I get to the chat? I know very little Spanish so it's very difficult for me to browse around that site and find it.

Direct download link is:

You can find the chat page under "utilidades -> chat"

no one's there...well...there was someone but i've never seen a conversation in the last messages thingy...but it's still a good idea tho'... i'll be in there around 12:00 PM HK time every weekend...or maybe at 1:00...adn around 4:00 PM HK Time...plus, can there be sounds if someone enters and leaves the room?
and...can i be a chat admin? i won't abuse power...
-
Well, i'm new to this product.
There are some finetunig possible (if i want, i can delete the msg board when it's empty.)
About time, when you entered was, in Italian time, 6.03 Am. What in HK time? I mean, what time differerence we have?
And finally, about moderation: unfortunatly, it has only one login-pass pair for administration (which is to ban and kick), so there are only two possible ways:
1) only one user can moderate it
2) more mods have to know (and NEVER REVEAL) the same login-pass pair.
I'm still thinking what should be the best, really hope never need to use those powers! ;)
What do you think of this?

I will change the layout for you... this one doesn't look Charas enough.
I modified one for SFDT once... don't know the link though... but I'll modify it.
:)

personaly I don't like flash chatrooms :s I prefer a regular one like on mIRC
-
Herre a screenshotteh!!!
Ow, and try to addapt it to Charas, I mean with the users.
About the changes I made, you can now use HTML code, unless Alex changed it (for me):)
And the chat uses flash 5 now.

Here's something I don't get. Sometimes when I click on the icon of the curved arrow, a window comes up saying I've been kicked out of the room instead of showing what everyone said like it should. And, I'm counted as not being in the room, but I can still talk and others can hear me. Also, when I click on the icon that looks like a person, it only displays the name of the person who last sent a message.
-
well...alex...if there was chaos in the chat room, who would be there to control it? and if that happens, people will get offended. there must be an admin, but i'm in no position to request me being the admin.
Time Zones:(well...don't know how to say it...)
GMT +01:00 - Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, Rome, Stockholm and Vienna.ARGH! Many more...too lazy to type....
GMT +08:00 - Beijing(Pecking), Chongqing, Hong Kong(where i'm in, and as the world can see, our economy is suffering from lack of tourists(who spend a lot in hong kong) due to SARS...and a coincidense, HKSAR - We'll take your breath away) and Urumqi.
So...correct me if i'm wrong, it must be 7 hours time difference...so if it's 7:00 AM here, it'll be 12:00 AM there.
-
Bah... another problem...
Sometimes when I leave the chat room, it doesn't know that I'm gone, so it still thinks I'm there. So when I go into the chatroom later, it still says I'm in the chat room and never left. :guns: :frag: :para: :yell:

Anyone noticed the new tags?
The tags you can use are:
Normal tags
=========
...
...
...
... *
...
...
Special tags
=========
[pikachu]
[kirby]
[mariohat]
[luigihat]
* A color code is a code of 6 characters, from 0-9 and A-F. You always need to put a # in front of it.
Examples:
#FF0000 - red
#00FF00 - green
#0000FF - blue
#000000 - black
#FFFFFF - white
If you have any ascii art like the pikachu or something, please post your art here in a textfile (a .txt file). I like to see Yoshi, Samus, Ness, Mushroom and other things here, but Final Fantasy thingies also work.

"#FFFFFF - white"???
Damn, what an advert, Gary... ;)
Guys, i'm sorry for not being here that much in this period, i'm really busy. The chat is an experiment, we'll fix it ASAP.
Anyhow, it isn't essential to us, right now, so expect a little lack in time ;)
P.S.: Gary, may you send me the flash version with buttons again, but with "readable" sizeness? Better if with the source too.
Tnx! ;)

Updated.
Size is now 500x350
-
Ok, it's up.
I've changed the width-height value in chat.php, in 1024 as i am the text was unreadable. now it's a monstruos 600x400 ;)
Anyhow, also in 800x600, it fit on the page, not that bad!
Anyhow, let me know what you think.
Just another fast note: when a mouseover is done over the buttons, a brief description appear on the right.
But for some buttons (color and url), it's not entirely viewable.
Good job, Gary!!!!
I'll make some other modification when i found some time.
Will post here to let you know.

I found a little problem...
It seems you only defined the sizes of the IE users. But I'm a Netscape user, so I can see sh... nothing... almost nothing. Anyways, could you also change the sizes in the
-
Ok, done sorry ;)
But... in IE i can see the texts, in NS all is white....
Should be something about the flash plugin?
You see all ok?
