Should I use voice actors for my game? Say why I should or shouldn't.. And give some other ideas also...
-
It'd make your RPG better if your characters had voices but it would probably take up a lot of memory so you could'nt make a gamedisk and it would take ages to download on the internet.
But, it's your choice, see what others say first...

Actually they don't take much.. I tried making some voices but my voice sounds always the same.. they won't take anymore than the others..

I do not recomend it. Even if you use voices for only important parts the size would add up quickly even in a small game.
-
Oh, them I am mistaken. It's gonna be a lot of voice acting to get voices for a whole RPG.

SaiKar your right... I have like 2 Mb in my game currenlty (not so much), but half of them are bmp files so that lowers it much! And I'm not using so many different files... So that lowers it also. But monsters raise it very much and music also.. But i've seen like 35 Mb files that don't even have anyhting special in it and that's because of bmp...

It might be cool just to make a few vioce overs for each character that would be used over and over again with special poses. For example, if a character is shocked over some news or something, they get a pose with a "!" above there head (or whatever) and they say something like "What!?" or "No Way!"
A few other things that you could use for vioce overs would be attacks in battles. For example, if they use a lightning spell they say "Lightning!" or something simular.

Yes, that's as far as I'd go. Commercial RPG's such as Skies of Arcadia used voice acting, but not for every single word. Just in certain situations.

You mean like LoD? Where you only heard them say their attacks, and a few times during cutsceens? That would be the shiz-nite!
-
Well I've never played LoD, so I dont know if its like that or not :jumpin:
I got the idea when I downloaded a new theme for my windows. There were 5 funny speech texts that came with it, so I tried them in a short little game I made, and they worked out pretty well. This would just be a small expansion of that.

Well I have another question. What am I going to do about the prices? I don't find good prices for my weapons. Give some ideas what should I do about the prices? Even for potions, herbs, ect.

It depends on how easy it is to get money for your characters. Lets say they get an average of 50 for every random battle. From point A to Point B, they have 12 random battles. They Now have 600. So considering they can make twice as much, three times as much, etc., Weak weapons should start out at 50-100. (I'm talking super weak, only raise attack by 3 or something.) Stronger weapons should run 200-800 depending on their effects. The really strong weapons that you can get near the end of the game can be anywhere from 1000 and up, especially if they fight a bunch of bosses and get a lot of money at the end of battle.
Hope this helps!!

Well how much if i get only 6-10 gold in the early of the game... and the weakest weapon raises 1 att and the best weapon usually raises 14-42 depending on chara...
