Title: A Game (Untitled As of now)

All my other ideas sucked, were cliche, or supposedly were already made and never finished....

I am making a new game and I hope it's not too cliche so your input would be apprieciated.

 Story (Not all as in I don't want to spoil it)
   There is a war going on between two continents, Valderia and Conious. A sinister force known only as 'The Dark One' takes this as an opurtune time to 'visit' the temples in these continents. For there are powerfully magical orbs in each temple (7 in all), 3 of which are on these continents.

   Xavier who lives in Valshen, a city of Valderia is called upon by unknown forces to visit the nearby temple and there he learns his destiny.

Sounds good but the moodle and the flute is kinda familiar... Maybe FF9, moogle and moogle flute?

Exactly, This is what I need, comments that help.

I actually forgot about that in FF9.

Maybe I can make it so to save on the world map to use an item or spell?
Good? Bad?

Spell makes it weird and i've never seen any spells that lets you save the game so i think it's an original idea..

A spell to save. There shouldn't be anything called moodle in it.

Maybe that wouldn't work because then whats the point of not having 'save' in the menu and having save points?

What do you think I should do?

You could make the save system so you'll have to buy an item to save (like a book or something). Of course this should only apply to the worldmap 'cuz savepoints still works best.

That would work, the save points  are books...

I know (maybe) how to make them work in the world map only.

Make the item a switch. Call it anything you want...
Make a common event. Auto-Start that works on that switch.
Make a new switch. (On the world map) Then branch. If [On the world map]- ON then call save menu and ELSE make a message or whatever you like.
At the end turn the switch off.

It should look like this:

Common event: (Call the event anything you want) Switch: ????

<>Branch if Switch [XXXX: On the world map] is ON
  <>Call save menu
: Else handler
  <>Message or anything you want
: End
<>Switch Operation: [XXXX: On the world map] OFF

I hope this worked..

Hmmmmmmmm... I was wondering something about REFMap.Is it like a generator or a set of a bunch of chars and whatnot?I saw it and it said something about people in japan loving REFMap.

Oh I didn't need the coding, I know how to do it already

REFMap is a like Roco or Mack & Blue. Infact it is Mack and some other people. It's not a generater, it's just name.

Just one prob w/ that one. You'd be able to save on all maps. This one only allows you to save while at the worldmap:
Make a new common event, set it to be autostart and set the trigger to a new switch.
<>Variable Operation: [####:Map ID] set hero map ID
<>Branch if Variable [####:Map ID] is equal to (The ID your worldmap has)
    <>Open Save Menu
: Else Handler
    <>Change items: (Name of the save item) 1 add
    <>Play Sound: (Failure sound effect)
    <>Message: Only works in the field!

If you noticed, Xavier's Species is 'Human(?)'
He isn't actually human but he doesn't know it yet O_O

His race is called Phoenix. Your probably thinking "But phoenixes are birds!"
Well, In my game, Phoenixes are a race of humanoid people with wings and magical powers based on fire and darkness. They can hide their wings at any time.

Xavier was found shipwrecked on the beach near Valshen and he lost all his memory. He was around 10 and his wings were hiden then. He then grew up in Valshen thinking he was human. The Phoenixes are in hiding because of the war so he never sees one

And about the flaming birds. If you saw a phoenix up in the sky flying with wings surrounded with fire, you wouldn't want to hang around long enough to find out that it isn't a bird.





EDIT: Does anybody have any Idea for a title?

Hmmmmmmm... depends on what you take as features.

But the map thing for towns and such has an arrow pointing to where you are so you don'y get lost :D

Do you have mini games?
Monster breeding?
CMS?
CBS?
And things like that... :)

Well, there will be minigames, and maybe a CMS for skills. I might put a CBS for when you participate in the war. But no monster breeding.
I'm not that far in the game so I can't show you many screenshots of the features.

In this game there are spells (Duh!) and spells like Cure and Fire have stronger variarions. What's a way I can show strength in the names?

Not Cure, Cura, Curaga. It's from ff9

I don't like Cure Level 1, 2, 3. Sounds Bad

Hmmmm..... What can I do?


I was thinking up a Title and how about Phoenix of Light
It would fit the plot nicely.

After getting his sword and being confronted by a guy with an axe, Xavier has another dream. This time it is a figure of blazing light telling him to go to the temple nearby. He goes and sees a mage (Vincent) fighting off creatures (minions of the evil guy).
Then a scream is heard. Vincent temporarily joins your party and you follow the scream to a see a cloaked figure attacking a girl(Alisa).....

NB: this is the water temple Xavier is in.

what about Cure, Heal and Recover?
