Title: Dark Rising "Until The Sky Bleeds"
Post by: Nandez on September 08, 2004, 08:29:08 AM
In this world full of Darkness and Light both needing to exist to equal out the existence of life.Darkness the things that drive us to do brutile things and Light what drives us to help others. Both of these Darkness and Light dwell inside of everyone. But if you where to deny one of them it would be build up until it cannot be contained. Now someone tries to Master the Darkness and will try to lock it away forever all that would be left is a Pure World. But The Darkness Cannot Be Contained For Long.

Very cliché like story. You should change it to something else than 'light vs. dark'.
Title:
Post by: Nandez on September 08, 2004, 10:24:10 AM
Its not really Light Versus Dark thats gust the easiest way to explain it picture it like this.Everyone has a Sinfull Side and a Sinless side. Its gust really explaning that everyone has two sides one that causes them to Do Right and one That causes Them To Do Wrong which is The Darkness.By the way what I typed up there isn't the story its gust the intro to the game.

It seems that you could have a lot of fun with that story if you want. Since light and darkness are part of the balance, sealing away the darkness could cause massive problems once you actually do it. The pure world might not be very good at all, and when you try to unseal the darkness and restore the balance, the forces of light could try to stop you since they would be in full control. Just something to think about.

Having the player characters in battle stand on their own little stat area is kind of silly.

Post by: Nandez on September 08, 2004, 01:51:39 PM
Thanks for your suggestion SaiKar and blame xp for the battle stance.I could use a script to use side view like in rpgmaker 2003 but eh I gust don't really want to.Since I already went through the trouble of editing the charcater pictures to make them actually look cool.

Sounds good. Like Sephiroth Rocks said, it sounds a
bit of a cliché.....
Title:
Post by: Nandez on September 08, 2004, 03:25:53 PM
I'm gust wondering why your calling it cliche when I havn't even said anything about the story or plot of the game yet.Like I said what i Typed was gust beginning dialogue it has something to do with the plot but not what your thinking of.Its gust a small minor piece of the whole plot of the game. When I post more screenshots i'll tell more about the plot.

You know... that RMXP default battle system... really looks sucky... now that I see a screenshot of it... OI... whoever thought of puttin full scale player graphics facing the player must have been nuts.

It gets in the way, a faceset would have been suffecient enough.

Sorry that it's unrelated but seriously, who in thier right mind would have a default battle system like that?! I think the current fadulant (lol, fadulant) style is the diagonal style where you see characters either in a left-up angle or a right up angle.

Or is it the Tactics style? Like FFT. I'm not sure, but it's certainly not the style sported in RMXP.
Title:
Post by: Nandez on September 08, 2004, 06:23:30 PM
Yeh It does kind of suck but owell. It doesn't really bother me.But I don't feel like useing the sideview for rpgmaker xp.But there is to much focus on the battle system I mean come on who cares great games like The Way,A Blurred Line,Romancing Walker, and Legion Saga had the crappier rpgmaker 2000 battle system and they were great for there story not the battle system.
Title:
Post by: DragonBlaze on September 10, 2004, 12:13:14 AM
Yeah the dbs sucks, but theres not much you can do since there aren't any good cbs's or battle gfx are made yet.

Anyway, I think all this negitive feedback about games with a few cliche parts is rather stupid. I've seen some games with cliche stories that turned out really good, its all in the way you present your game. If you start it off with text like "so and so is evil, then got traped by such and such by the power of some crystals, now someone is trying to free so and so by destroying the cyrstals, you are mankinds last hope.." thats going to far. But if your game has some cliche parts it could still be great if you present and develope the story right.

Besides almost everything is considered cliche now...

anyway good luck.

Hey, even life is cliche at times.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on September 10, 2004, 12:20:33 AM
I like it, You know, it is a little cliche, but like Dragonblaze said... Everything's cliche now a days. Besides, This kind of thing isn't EXACTLY common. You could make it more of a fight for power than a save the earth game, and that would make it interesting.
goodluck

Eh, seems ok to me, just fix a few bumps.

The first 10 or so hours of Tales of Phantasia were so chiched that I was seriously regretting my decision to buy the game. Then things happened and the storyline just exploded. It was great.

So maybe being cliched a little is not bad, as long as there are some original ideas there.

So your using XP I see. Becareful with those scripts. They can block you from test playing and other insane stuff.

Sorry I Havn't rpelied to anyhting but  I was away. And SaiKar out of everyone you did best to explain it right there. Now I admit the sealing away Darkness is cliche. But its around 20-35% into the game is when its gets seriously interesting and diffrent. The Part about sealing away The Darkness is really gust to get the game started and give a basis on what happens later. You were also right about Phantasia at first your like blaaah,Your family slaughtered by villian you set off to kill him to avenge there death. Also drenrin2120 Saving the World doesn't even fall into there to think about list in the game Nor does Struggling for power.Out of alot of best Fan Made game sout there took me about two days to finish. This game won't be out for a good while Because i'm going to make it so you actually spend alot more than two days on it like a real game so the filesize may end up being bigger than the normal one.Like on how long Xenogears was.(God it waaaas long!)Not quite that long but somewhere in the area if I can without it going blaaaaah around that point in the game.

Here's a suggestion about the last screen. Add a bit more stuff to it. I know kids aren't THAT clean if they're even clean at all. Also, where Kiro or whatever is walking in, put a wall there because it looks awkward to the nth power.

All I can say right now is, it looks decent.
Title:
Post by: Weregnome on September 12, 2004, 10:26:31 AM
yeh it looks pretty good. Hopefully it turns out good, the only prob I can see is that not alot of people wil play it cos its xp  :|
Title:
Post by: Nandez on September 12, 2004, 06:43:45 PM
Ok first off people stop pming on where to download xp damn it!Also I could probally include the file to play the game or i'll post it on my site. Its not that big and I'll also put instructions for it.Of course Sadly i don't have enough room for my game itself so I have to find some hosting "if" I release a demo. Also what the hell did you mean not that clean?Plus when you play the game in full screen she's covered in blood.

Post by: peklo1989 on September 12, 2004, 06:48:05 PM
Sounds great.. I don't care about cliche so much.. That's because there are a lot of cliches around and it's really hard to think of something original... BUT GOOD LUCK!

A good example of cliche is ZELDA... But that never stopped zelda games...

Last screen is stupid, where is the water running to? You can't just have a small pond there, it needs to have at least a small stream coming from it. That is of course unless there is a tunnel UNDERGROUND in which the water runs through.
Title:
Post by: Nandez on September 15, 2004, 05:54:06 AM
It goes all the way down to the ground. He is at a mountain peak. But i'm making the maps it can float in the sky if i desire it.

Title:

U don't actually need xp to play it.Which is why i'm including the file you need to play it.And alot mor epeople are getting xp specially since Adovocate made a great english translation of it.I know one thing above all whoever plays the game will love the music.only a few tracks are original,Theres alot of Japanese Anime music in the game that i know alot of you will enjoy.

Hmm, sounds like maybe I've heard this before somewhere, but oh well, mine's just as cliche.  And yeah, intros can be very cliche, and there's really no way to not make it sound that way unless you give up some spoilers.
Anyways, a cliche story can be worked with really well and turn out great.  It's not only about the story.  Gameplay's really important, too, if not moreso.

Well when the demo come sout you'll actually see how non cliche it is.

Well I havn't made any adjustment to my game is so long,Until the other day when for some reason I felt like i had to.I never really lost interest in my Xp game I just stopped because I got so busy with many other things.Anyway I have cancelled my rm2k3 game because It lost my interest aobut 3 minute sinto the game, but I have begun to work hard on this one again because my Xp game seems to hold my interest and I actually enjoy working on The Battle pictures and the Charsets and the story.I'll have some more screenshots soon.
