Allright the main reason I made this thread is because I need a team needed for my upcoming game, there will be more info on the positions I need filled at the bottom of this post.
This is a sequal to my game SilverFire 1 which is still currently in progress, for more info on it go to This Thread. (http://charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=4780&forumid=11&catid=4)
SilverFire II: Killer and Destroyer (name will probably change)
Around 100 years have gone by since SIlverFire 1 has left off, and during this time the world is pretty much in peace. There are still skirmishes and such, but there are no global scale wars like before. Keckshio has gone back to sleep (you'll have to finish SF 1 to know what Im talking about), and all the other characters have passed away.
Like the first game you play through as a dragon, I don't know if I'll put in the "Create a Dragon" system like there was in the first one, but I might. :D Anyway heres the story:
There is a forest known as Balshier, the forest of darkness. It gained its name because long ago it was cursed, and now no light (or bearly any) enters the forest. Dark creatures known as "Moon Lords" Inhabit Balshier, they gained there name because they are believed to have come from the dark moon that revolves around the planet. These Moon Lords have emence power, but are unable to exit the forest because they cannot stand the light.
Now for the start of the gameplay:
Deep withing the dark forest theres an egg. And well, you hatch. You're the only dragon, in fact probably the only other creature besides the Moon Lords in the forest. (later on in the game you will know why). After a few weeks on your own, you find a river and some plants to eat, but then you come across a Moon Lord. You fight it, and although you dont win, you manage to survive. Later on however when you fight one, you beat it. A few years later you find a way out of the forest, but are in essence "evil" from spending all that time in the cursed forest.
At this point you are manipulated by some "bad dragons" (for lack of a better word) to destroy some human cities. To your surprise you are stronger than any other being you have faught, and thus you are gived the name Zesher, which means "The One Who Kills".
(I'll skip a little here)
You come across another dragon, that is about the same age as you, and again to your surprise is just as powerfull as you. He is known as Zersevick, meaning "the one who destroys". When you to engage in combat, you are defeated and killed...
Anyway the game is about, the resurection of a foe, the return of some friends, recovering the past, and the rise of the most unlikely hero.
That description was very brief, so it may not have sounded the best, but i think it will turn out really good. Now on to the positions that are open on my team.
This game will be made with rmxp, but it will have all custom charsets and tilesets. Production is not going to start for at least another 6 months, and in that time I need all these customs to be made. The hard part will be that the charsets and tilesets will not be rtp style. I'm planning to go all out on this and make it the best I posibly can. I'll specify how i need the tilesets done to fit with the charsets later, if your up to the challage, you can sign up now.
Jobs:
Charset designer: DragonBlaze
TileSet designer:
Screens Designer:
Scripter (for the scrips)
If you think of another postition besides tester that you want to do, let me know :D
-
Hmm.. It looks good. Sorry I cant take any jobs, but Im busy with my game. Theres one thing thpugh, I don't remember playing or even seeing a demo of SF 1. I do have a vauge memory of the thread, though. Anyway, do you have SF1s download/demo availiable?
-
No, its unlikely that I'll release a demo any time soon. Most of my work in SF one so far is making maps, gfx, and systems. Well actually I was planning on releasing a very short demo with the intro and a few of the systems, but it was only going to be for my beta testers. If they don't find any bugs or anything in it, there is a good chance I'll put it up.
In a week or two I'm going to release a full game i will have made that uses the systems, gfx, and some maps from SF, I making it for an event at some forums, so it won't be that big of a thing, but it is turning out rather nicely.
Back to SF 2, I need some names for some characters, I haven't decided who all the main characters will be yet, but I'll post more profiles as time goes by.
[???]
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age at start of game: 5
This is one of the few characters you will meet at the start of the game, but you won't get her on your party till a lot later. She is cheerful and energenic, all her life she has wanted to go exploring, but has been confined in her small village. She pretends she is a fighter and fights monsters and such, and she drags her little brother into most of her games. She will grow up to be a great knight.
[???]
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age at start of game: 4
This is the brother of [???], and unlike [???], he gets scared easily, and wants to stay close to his house in the village, however his sister forces him to go off with her on her pretend adventures. He will grow up to be a great Mage.

Just curious. What happened to Silver Fire I? I like Silver Fire II, too, I'm just wondering cuz I was really liking Silver Fire I.

SF I is the game i'm currently working on, and will continue to work on it till its complete. I'm just posting for help on making gfx for SF II now so that by the time I finish the first one, I'll be able to start working on the second one. :D
Anyway its gonna be well over 6 months probably before I actually start making events or anything for it. At the moment I don't even have RMXP :p, I downloaded the cracked version to test it out, but then I deleted it off my comp a few days later.
-
very kewl. I thought you abandoned it... :p I like the storyline for both stories keep it up!
-
I could write some of the script, also I can do the funk as far as music and graphics go.
All I need is guidance, tell me what you want me to do and I'll do my best to do it. I do have work, and since they don't appreciate me doing this stuff there, but I can devote some of my time towards it.
-
I love writing! just give me the note and I can write the script
-
Allright, well these are the scrips i will eventually need, some of the more complicated ones (such as the cbs) may have to be made like a cbs in rm2k3 rather than scripting. I don't know much at all about scripting, so if I ask of something that is imposible with xp, just let me know it cant be done :D
Scripts:
New message box/system: I haven't quite decided on what type of a system I want here yet, but I hate the defult one.
Differant Start: When the game is loaded, I want to play a custom movie before the title screen.
New Battle System: Everyone agrees that the current battle system sux, I'll need one that is totally differant. If you feel your are good enough to make a custom battle system using the scrips, let me know and I can send you the details.
Adjustments to the menu system: I just need a few small adjustments made so it fits in with the battle system.
Thats all I can think of at the moment, there may be a few more that I need done, but any other modifications I can probably do using events in rmxp.
Graphics: The main differance between the gfx I wanna use, and the rtp gfx, is that my sprites will be about 1.5 times larger. Thus all the sprites will have to be custom made (unless I decide to have a few rtp migits running around :D), and probably all the chipsets will have to be custom made to fit with the sprites. I'll probably be able to make all the chars myself, but I wont be able to do the chips.
Then I'll also need other various gfx, such as battle animations, menu systems, and screens.
Music: I'm probably going to use midis for this game because in my opinion mp3s are not that much better, but they take up a ton of space and are harder to find original ones. Anyway, I wont need all custom music, but to start off I'll need a kick *** battle theme, and some character themes.
And if you dont have much time to work on anything, no sweet! Thats why I made this topic so far in advance, i'm busy as well, and when I say I'll make some simple char or pose for someones game it usually takes two weeks. So take your time, and work on it only when you feel like it :D
-
Maybe I can do a little help. I can try for the battle theme when I've got time.
-
Cool, anything at all that you can do to help would be appriciated. :)
I'm hoping that I'll have 6 good battle themes by time I start working on SF II. I need at least 3 - 4 battle themes that will be used in the game, and 2 battle themes that will be used as character themes.
But like I said earlier, do it whenever you feel like it because there is no rush, and I have other people working on music as well, so you only should make a battle theme if you feel like making one :D
-
have you even finished the first one?
-
No, but if you read my earlier posts, this game won't start production for a very very long time, I just want to get a little team together to make some resources so that by the time I'm done with the first one, I can start working on the second one.
I do not plan to work on the second one at all (besides a few gfx) untill the first one is completely done.
-
Okay,i'll start on a battle theme. but I won't be able to start until monday cuz I'm leaving for the rest of the weekend... :o srry, but I will try one battle theme.
-
Thats cool, thanks a lot!
-
I ripped a battle theme, but since Jasper John over there is already doing one, I won't post it.
-
Well I need a bunch of battle themes. For differant areas I want to have differant themes, so you might as well post it :D or at least give it to me some how :)
-
K, heres how large the characters are going to be compared to the normal rtp characters. I'll get the actuall full charset done soon so if anyone wants to make tile sets, they can use it to see how large they need to make things.
Most of the things such as trees, grass, and water can be left the same size (but i still dont want rtp). But things like walls, doors, and tables, need to be larger to fit the characters.
Note: This character will not be used in the game, but a simular one will be used for the main character. Exept, more detail, no armor in the begining of the game, and he'll have wings. Also note that this map will not be used.
-
Title screen, I have title screen that would work great, but I don't have any good programs to add the text. I guess this isn't that important at the moment, but meh.
Anyway if someones interested, feel free to add the text "SilverFire II" "Killer and Destroyer".
-
Yay.
I added the text.
-
Yeah its cool, I forgot to say this, but I would rather have the title on the top of the screen rather than at the bottom. In most cases the text (start, load, end, or whatever) is at the bottom-middle. If the title is also at the bottom, it clutters the bottom too much and leaves the top empty, or at least thats my opinion.
-
Mkay.
-
here you go. I don't know if you like it but I just improved on a midi I made a long time ago and came up with this. how do you like it?
-
Yeah its great, I don't think this will be a battle theme, but it would be perfect for some other places :D. It looks like I'll probably use it as a character/party theme though at the moment :)
Anyway thanks a lot!
Edit: I got some great scripts at the moment. I added 8 dirrectional movement, an improvement to some shop/equip screens, and I got one that will allow me to get rid of the defult loading title screen, and make my own, that way I can get a movie to play before hand and such.
-
Yeah, I found that equip menu script at phylomortis but it didn't work for me.
-
Allright, heres a charset that shows how large the characters are going to be, I quickly did this, and only meant it to be an example, so it aint the best. You'll get the idea though :D
-
I like how your games comin' along DragonBlaze!
I suppose it's easier to create larger charsets on XP...
-
^That and 'ruby scripting' sound like the only good things about it

What's ruby scripting?

Ruby scripting allows you to edit or add anything you want to the game including the menu and battle systems, text, the way you walk, gfx sizes, how the title screen is desplayed, how large the message box is, and much more. It makes rmxp vertually limitless on what you can do.
I love working with gfx in rmxp, it has a higher resolution meaning I can make my gfx more detailed, and plus I can make 8-bit colors instead of 256 colors.
The bad thing about it is that it makes it harder for people who don't know ruby to work with it. They still can of course, but then they can't have facesets, they cant play movies, they cant change the transparancy of message boxes, and there stuck with the crappy battle system.
-
Nice Custom chara!

I suppose that IS pretty cool....

it is, its frickin awesome, but i don;t really like it so i stick to my roots.

Not true at all, you don't need to script at all to make a CBS.
Also, it's fairly easy when you open up script, look at the message option, and see the number to change for transparency.
I also made a common event that switches the main character's charaset to the bigger faceset when you open the menu, and switches it back when you exit the menu.

plus i haven't played RPGXP because my computer says "RGSS not installed"
-
I see this might turn into an argument, so we should probably stop talking about the ups and downs of rmxp in this topic. Maby we could start one on it somewhere else if it isn't against the rules.

Yeah, maybe this argument should be put on an all of all topic of something.....
Back to DragonBlaze's topic please....
-
He hasn't asked us to do anything yet, so when he does, we'll post it here, but until then, I see no reason for me not to talk about RMXP.
