Title: The Eternal Struggle: From now on, the general thread.
Post by: RPG LORD on September 25, 2004, 12:15:01 PM
I've been busy on this game since May 2003 and alot of the game has changed by now.
If anyone can help doing some good non-RTP battlecharacters, just tell me, I can appreciate any help from anyone.

I have only 3 screenshots of the new version since I hardly have all the graphics I need.

I started a new thread because the old one died out.

The Eternal Struggle: Revolution of the Werewolf is actually the second half of a story I've been working on for ages. I have been trying to make this an aftermath to the Final Fantasy series, unlike a normal fangame, hence I'm not truly calling it a Final Fantasy fangame. Regard this as a spinoff, not a wrongly-named fangame. At first this takes use of some clichés known from those series, but afterwards they get eliminated due to the chaotic way of the story. (that is, chaotic if you didn't play through the first part, which isn't even under construction yet. Also, some things return in the latest part of the story.) But just for the chaos of it, I'm trying to get the second part started first, because when you would have known the first part, you would know the villain throughout the whole story, appearing behind the screens at first. Talking about story, I'm just about to get started on it. Get ready for chaos.

Revolution of the Werewolf:
The War of Salvation has for hundreds of years ended. However, Lake Phobos still bears the blood mist, as retaliation to the death of Astharos, the Jackal, or so some called him. But the true threat could lie within the lordship of Thanatos, although some believe that he is just still vengeful for the death of his son. He had been trying to corrupt the Kingdoms of Mythe to slavery of lycanthropes. Only he hadn't been putting it into plan, but then he heard of a young boy being found at the borders of the village of Kazahn back in his world. Of this he could make abuse a few years later.
And a few years later, Eli, the silent boy that had been found at the edge of the village where he now lived, went inside the nearby forest to pluck a root for some coming visitors from a nearby kingdom. It seemed that to pluck this root he had to go inside a cave, but even more unfortunately he had to encounter a triceratops (is it getting weird yet?). Fortunately, the thing was slow, and he could defeat it to then retrieve the root. When he left the cave, he felt an ice cold gaze aimed at him for a while. When it left his senses, he heard something just behind him, and got bitten in the shoulder by something, fainting, although still hearing an old man's voice shout some words and a loud screech....

Sorry to be a bother, but does anyone know a good place for a font patch for RM2003? To anyone who knows a good one, tell me through PM.

UGh, sorry but those maps are too big and empty. You need more stuff or smaller rooms.

This is the newest screenshot I took of the game now.
A simple save point, yes, and even then I could try perfecting it.

Um...I the RTP "Alex" the main hero or is it just a test?
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on November 05, 2004, 10:35:45 AM
It's actually the main hero. But that changes later in the game.

Someone should make a game entirely with RTP.

The game looks pretty good, although I agree with Red on the room point.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on November 20, 2004, 10:25:47 PM
Right..
I've been thinking of putting a mini-game into the game.

You probably have a bad zip program or none at all. Try finding ZipItFast.

Post by: wildguy3922 on November 25, 2004, 10:35:06 PM
Osmose, someone did make a game entirely with RTP. Legion Saga I was, except with a few added resources.

A few RTP resources doesn't hurt a game. The only thing with RTP is that you never want to use it's midi's and rarely use it's chipsets. I'm not using either in my game. But RTP is in there, barely.

I would suggest going with more stuff. Just my way of seeing it, because you can put a lot of stuff in there.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on November 26, 2004, 07:11:54 AM
Going with more stuff is a pathetic idea because I don't even think alot of people are willing to help. As for me I don't even know how to do a decent graphic.

Post by: RPG LORD on December 18, 2004, 01:02:36 PM
I must say this is a topic kick but does anyone still have ideas for the game that I might be able to use?
Title:
Post by: Moosetroop11 on December 18, 2004, 01:35:11 PM
It's not a topic kick as it's your topic. As for ideas, I don't know enough about your game! Tell us about the characters. I really don't know what your game's like so I can't give ideas yet!
Title:

True. I will probably give a short demo of it when I find a hoster.
Some folders cleaned up.

Don't worry, you  will get a link in a while...Well, that's what I hope.
Title: Just one question...
Post by: RPG LORD on February 07, 2005, 03:04:13 PM
Is anyone willing to help with the graphical department?
Title:
Post by: Dragonium on February 09, 2005, 07:23:48 PM
Yeah, it looks pretty good. I agree about the RTP hero though. RTP looks fine if you don't use it much, or if you use it for non-important characters.

About the Rm2K3 font, have you ever been on a site where it asks you to download and install Japanese font support? Let it download, and it should install MS Gothic, which is one of the fonts compatible with Rm2K3. Presto.

Post by: just1question on February 09, 2005, 08:31:49 PM
What kind of battle system is it gonna have?  You planning on a DBS or CBS?
Title:
Post by: CoolPlayRPG on February 10, 2005, 04:56:19 PM
sry, but what are you all finding good on this game? imo it's not good at all.

the maps are too empty. rtp is used, and i HATE rtp! there's nothing living in the screen except the hero and sometimes 2 or 3 other people. no dogs, cats, butterflies and other humans...

i would clear this game and restart it. just my opinion.

and one question:
what did you take so long that you're working since 2003 on it???
Title:
Post by: Moosetroop11 on February 10, 2005, 05:14:44 PM
Owch that's harsh

CoolPlayRPG:
Really, do you think I could finish a game without any help in one year?
I agree about the RTP charsets and stuff, and I'm planning to change that stuff to a different style, don't worry. And about the maps, I agree once again. It really depends on how much help I'm going to get. If I don't get any, this won't even be done by 2006.

just1question:
PalmerX is busy on the FF1 battle system if I'm correct.

Dragonium:
Actually, I already installed that font on my computer.

Moosetroop11:
Nothing too harsh, he's just saying what he thinks about it.

well, i don't know when you started in 2003 with your game, but we write 2005 by now and this is 2 years, not 1.
and if you were a newbie at this time, i would spend more time with learning how to make a real good game, not to start a game directly. of course i also made a game when i was a newbie and this was only with rtp. today i might finish a game like this was in one day, but soon i realized, that such a game would never be accepted by the ones who play rpgs, so i learned and learned and learned until i got the knowledge how to use the different functions of the rpg maker.

if you need help with technical stuff, ask me, if you want. i think i'm good enough at this to help you. you also can do it with tutorials. that helped me too.

greetz,
cp

Hey, RPG LORD, if you need any charsets, just ask, except for poses, because for some reason, I am cursed with them.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on February 19, 2005, 09:21:28 AM
SleepAid: I'm sorry but I practically don't need a Game Over for the game.

wildguy3922: I'd be honoured to have your help, but I'd also need someone for the poses. In any case I can still try to do the poses myself or find someone to do them.
Welcome m8.

It depends on when I'm going to get that ruddy CBS if PalmerX's going to finish that. In the meanwhile, I'm waiting and creating music for the game, and ripping/making/editing some graphics that I might use.

2.The needed
1.Battle system (Final Fantasy 1) (Being worked on)
2.Menu system (Final Fantasy 1) (...)
3.Bestiary (Final Fantasy 1) (...)
4.A good Final Fantasy 1-styled graphic developer.
5.Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls (GBA) font.
6.Final Fantasy 1 glyphs (can do these myself).

3.What I'm thinking of
1.A prequel to Revolution of the Werewolf
2.A sequel to Last Flight of the Dragon.
3.Making the first two parts of the story Final Fantasy 1-styled. The third one will then get a Final Fantasy II coat.
4.Need to convince people that I'm not making a Final Fantasy fangame when they'd see what I'm busy with. I just like that style alot.

4.The meaning of it all
The Revolution of the Werewolf:
This story is about Eli, who mysteriously appeared in the world of Mythe and was taken to the dungeons of the kingdom of Haila by a dark knight called Henry. In the meanwhile there is a conversation between the Council of Mythe and the noble King Hironymus of Haila about the slavery of werewolves. King Hironymus loses the debate just before Henry enters the throne room to negotiate with him.
Just at that moment a masked man enters the dungeons to free the werewolf image of Eli, who at first mistakes him for an enemy of his, but then gets what the masked man is trying to do. During the conversation between Hironymus and Henry, the Masked Man breaks through the door of the throne room together with Eli. Henry reacts unsheathing his sword, but easily gets knocked down by the Masked Man.
Before falling down to the ground, Henry slashes the mask away, to great surprise of the King revealing the prince of Haila, Lance.
After getting knocked down, Henry lets out a frightening laugh, mutating into an undead knight of darkness, and from that point, Lance and Eli fight together to defend the king, to the bitter end of the fight, at which Henry teleports to another place.
At that moment Hironymus looks at the two freedom fighters with a petrified look, but then Hironymus steps forward to Lance and Eli, and looks at the two of them with pride in his eyes and heart, and thanks them both for defending him. After that he takes Eli along with him to his room. After a long conversation in that room, he gives to Eli a necklace with a glowing pendant of crystal, telling him to keep it secret, and telling nobody about it but his friends. When they both exit the room, Eli gets permission to use a bed of the castle. The next morning Eli gets recognized at the Council of Mythe as a free human, the slavery of werewolves gets abolished, and Eli gets the name of Royal Guardian. But where did that helpless creature come from? The same amount of him is known as the dark knight.
At one night, a black dragon ensues a conversation with King Hironymus while Lance and his guardian are walking in the forests of Haila. Suddenly, a malicious laugh fills the night sky as Castle Haila turns into a cloud of fire, and the black dragon flies to the location where Lance and Eli are, followed by a dragon knight and the spirit of a perished warrior. They made a pact, and Vice, the dragon, told him to meet him at a cave in Fenrynn a year later. The three then disappeared into nothing, and the castle of Haila exploded, filling the night sky with ashes and dust.
The dawn of a great journey has just begun...
Title: ANOTHER topic kick, in my own topic... Damn you Charas!

I've given you people more help than I got back.
Now I am still wondering if anybody is able or even WANTS to do a font out of this image:
Title:
Post by: Leon_1990 on June 22, 2005, 05:14:36 PM
I know this is a topic kick, but it's for a good reason.

Here's the recolour you asked for RPGLORD:

(tell me if you want anything changed)
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on June 24, 2005, 04:41:45 PM
It's recoloured well, but the recoloured parts could have been quite a bit brighter. If I look at it like that, it's completely black except for the skin.
Title:
Post by: Leon_1990 on June 24, 2005, 05:38:41 PM
-_-'' well you said you wanted it dark lol
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on June 24, 2005, 06:34:43 PM
Yeah, I know. I should have been more specific.
In any case, I like what you've done.
But what about the masked one?
Title:
Post by: Leon_1990 on June 24, 2005, 07:12:59 PM
oh...have yu got an example of what you want the mask to be like?

Hah, recoloured version of that.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 01, 2005, 01:23:38 PM
I kept asking for help but rarely got any...
I might be useless for the moment, but from the moment my computer works fine once again, I will start on this project again.
If needed, I will start all over again!
I have enough courage to do that again.

I will start off with the second part of my Lake of Fear saga,
Revolution of the Werewolf.
Now here's the total of episodes I've thought of:
The Lake of Fear: Beginning of the Myth
The Lake of Fear: Revolution of the Werewolf
The Lake of Fear: Bite of the Shadow
The Lake of Fear: Last Flight of the Dragon
The Lake of Fear: Revival of the Jackal

The Lake of Fear: Beginning of the Myth is resembling the complete history of the three worlds that were created by the Goddess Anarith. It begins with the creation of all, and ends with the disappearance of Eli's father. The most important of all is the War of the Moon, in which one of Eli's ancestors kills the war lord Astharos, along with the dragon knight Eric Dalming, the strange foxish knight Kyran, and the wolfish appearance Loupe.

The Lake of Fear: Revolution of the Werewolf is the story of friendship. It resembles freedom, no matter of what kind.

The Lake of Fear: Bite of the Shadow is the tale of Eli finding his true love under the grasp of his archenemy, the Black Knight Henry. It is also the end of a fallen angel, who managed to survive all along. The Dark Lord Thanatos seals himself into an orb, leaving the control of his empire to the demon Rufus.

The Lake of Fear: Last Flight of the Dragon is the tale of Eli returning to the village where he partly grew up, and the return of some old friends. Thanatos breaks out of the orb, disposing of his servant Rufus. In this one, Thanatos gets defeated, but disappears....

The Lake of Fear: Revival of the Jackal is the tale of Thanatos' long lost abusive grandson, Nerrick, Leader of the Shadow Fang, grasping the throne of Fantasma. Since he no longer needs him, he tries to dispose of Thanatos, who'd been living in exile. In this story the humble servant of Anarith, Loupe, claims his right for the throne of Fantasma, and the old enemy Henry, finds his end. It is the end of all misery and a new start for all of good heart.

If you people think you can discourage me from trying, you people think wrong.
If I give up now, all my work will have been for nothing. And I'm not risking that, no matter what you people dare say.

Hey I for one, think your game sounds awesome. You even have 5 episodes planned out! I think this game looks more original than a lot of them out there. I would help you, but I'm not very skilled at anything except midis sort of, which you can already make waaay better than me anyway. Don't give up on this game. I'm sure all of your hard work will pay off.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 02, 2005, 10:23:12 AM
Well, I'll have to get my computer fixed before I can start progressing again, and before I'm able to do some MIDIs again.
I think Leon_1990 still has some things I was working on...
BTW, if you'd be wondering why I'm starting on the second episode first, I'm doing the first as one of the latest because I'd seriously like to work on them in my own kind of style.
About the game looking original, to be honest I'm planning to have two episodes styled as Final Fantasy I and three as Final Fantasy II, but still with my own storyline and hopefully with a good number of custom graphics.
Title:
Post by: Leon_1990 on July 02, 2005, 01:40:19 PM
Yeah, I have A few of your midis on my computer ^^
its the battle theme, Thanatos' theme and the airship theme I think, I may have more, anyway, I'll give you them over msn.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 02, 2005, 04:20:41 PM
Well, I advise you to keep them safe, and also the Battle for Grandis that was in development.
At least a few people who'd like to help...
Well, I swore to myself that I would not rest until I finished the whole saga of the Lake. It is my child, and I will never let it die.

PEOPLE!!!
A number of the needed programs is retrieved once again, and tomorrow I'll be extracting my games and game makers once again from a CD-ROM I have lying in my room.
I promise you people that I will renew the map tree, and that this time I will not fail my project.
If anybody would want to be of support, I will need to get mailed at my Hotmail adress. Note, though, that it will not be able to receive from just any servers, like, for example, it cannot receive Yahoo! mails with me. So please keep care of that.
I will be putting up a list at my signature.

Post more screens, and everyone cant help you cuz you are whining about it each 3 posts. If you dont get help, wiat and see. If someone wants too help he/she will do it. And i would make more crowded maps but maybe you have already done that since it was a while ago you posted SCREENIES.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 18, 2005, 01:31:44 PM
Actually that third post was just announcing a new piece of the soundtrack, that's all.
But about crowded maps and screenshots, that'll certainly have to wait for quite a time, since I need to put a new map tree together. Hmm...maps...LEON!!! OF COURSE!!!
Title:

nice MIDI. You have been working on this game for so many years RPG LORD. Or it seems that way. It's sure to be a good one with all the effort you put into it. I've got high hopes for it. ;)

Maxine, please, shut your mouth until you know everything about what you are saying.

ROGLORD has been working on this game with next to none help since May 2003, so I think he has a right to "whine" as you call it.
you would do the same if no-one payed attention to what you need for your game, yet, always demanded screenshots.

dont be so ignorant next time you post here Maxine.

@RPGLORD: ^^ Its a pleasure to help with LoF with you.
I promise you that I will use every amount of time I can spare between my project and LoL to help you ;)

Well, I did notice that there was something just not right about what he was saying.
And yes, I agree about the screenshots. People are refusing to help but still demand screenshots. By the time I choose to let these idiots do as they want, I'll be the president of France.

You want to know something weird? You posted that right after I posted in your thread.

Well, my name is Lance. How freaky is that? It's like one in a million that you posted that right after i posted in your thread!

ANYWAY! Dear RPGLord, I have read your thread and have made the decision to help you whenever you need me. I'll be on MSN and AIM mostly whenever I'm on Charas. So just ask or pm me and I'll see what I can do.
Title:

Sheesh!! That's weird!!
Well, I guess I can't blame you for it.
Thanks, drenrin.
But Lord Matos, you need to tell me what kind of stuff you can help with. It'll make it easier for me to understand what I can ask you and what I can't.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on July 26, 2005, 02:01:32 PM
ah.. that might be a good idea. Well, of lately I've been working on poses and sprite sized b_chars. Here's some of my work.

And of course, I am available for MIDI work, too. I'm guessing you want orchestrated, right?
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 26, 2005, 03:08:26 PM
Well, I have no use for battlechars since PalmerX is once again busy on the CBS. (He lost it, but he still had a backup of a while ago). But if you'd like to help with the MIDI soundtrack, I'd like to hear what you can do.
But here is the renewed title, and somehow I'd like to thank gamerman4 for his advice, even though I did it all wrong.
At least I put fuzzy letters on it that didn't look messed up.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on July 26, 2005, 05:31:10 PM
No problem, I'd love to help you with MIDIs, that's my specialty.

Here are a few MIDIs, two of them are rock, one is orchestrated (Mostly Brass and Woodwind)

 An Old Life (http://www.sitesled.com/members/drenrin2120/An%20Old%20Life.mid)
 As Cold As You (http://www.sitesled.com/members/drenrin2120/ACAY%20Remake.mid)
 Imperial Overule (http://www.sitesled.com/members/drenrin2120/Imperial%20Overule.mid)

The first two are actual songs that I hope to be turned into MP3s with actual instruments... But that's a long off dream from now.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 26, 2005, 05:35:59 PM
Well, I'll need a dungeon theme (Track 04) in any case. But it'll have to be inside the principals of the LOF music, so I suggest you try your best at it. If that one seems to be good enough, I'll accept you as a part of the staff, Lord Matos.
Edit: w00t!!! 10 pages reached!!
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on July 26, 2005, 07:50:16 PM
Lance Matos, this single MIDI has gained you access to the staff. I suggest you take the banner and put it in your signature too, and prepare for a good time of work alongside me.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on July 26, 2005, 08:03:59 PM
I am glad to be helping you with MIDIs RPGLord, and glad to be on the staff. But I do ahve my own game to promote, so I'll have to pass on the banner, although I would if I didn't have my game to finish.

I'll do the best i can.
Title:

here is the improvement, it may not sound different, but trust me, it's better.

Nice work RPG Lord, I would say the only prob is that it's a little random and soft twoards the end. But you are still working on it and it is your game, so let's see how it turns out.

And the site looks good so far!  :D

Edit: Well, I guess randomness is better than predictability in a song.
Title:
Post by: drenrin2120 on July 30, 2005, 01:45:07 PM

Yes, indeed.
Here is the tune for the introduction of Magus, the last boss in Revolution of the Werewolf. Based on the Last boss theme.
It may not be much, but it's just to go before the final battle in RoW.
Title:

Well, it's not really of any importance throughout the game. The final boss of Revolution of the Werewolf has nothing to do with the plot.

Thanks!
Now, this is finally a new screenshot, testing the exfont.
(Those graphics are not Black Waltzes, they are Gilgamesh.. I'll need somebody to create 3 Black Waltz graphics in FF1 and 2 style though..But that can wait for a while. It's purely a test)

GOD DAMN IT!!!
MY COMPUTER WENT MAD FOR THE SECOND TIME THIS SUMMER ALREADY!!!
I'll have to restart the game ONCE AGAIN when it's fixed..Just when I started on track 19..luckily it wasn't much yet.
Leon_1990, you are along with PalmerX the guardian of my files once again. Please, keep good hold of them until I get my computer back...
*sighs* The Lake of Fear has had its better times..
13-08-05: I've just restarted the Opening theme on my father's computer, this time starting with no synthesizer.

Right, my computer is just screwed up.
Well, I've finished one more track, and recently I've been thinking of changing the title to The Eternal Struggle, although this would clash with Leon's Eternum Saga, I estimate. Should I or should I not?
It would then make place for a remake of the original Lake of Fear plot if I'd take the time for it, but FIRST to get that piece of **** fixed.
Title:
Post by: Leon_1990 on October 27, 2005, 05:16:34 PM
hmmm.... Eternum, Eternal.

I'll let the voters decide!

...
...
...
...
...

OK, Voters suck, they all said "Wheres my money?!"

hey, it wont really clash, as long as our two games are completely seperate in story, it shouldnt matter. But personally, I like the lake of fear better.
Title:
Post by: RPG LORD on October 29, 2005, 06:24:52 AM
The Lake of Fear was originally a very different plot. I would like planning that plot out in a new game, so I think I'll stick with Eternal Struggle then.
Any case, I have had quite some troubles with my computer, and my father tried (will try?) to fix it by re-installing it.
Oh well.

Title:

I can imagine.
Any case, I did a bit of a rehash on the title screen (below).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v233/EliDirkx98/EternalStruggle.png
I don't know how I will still get this done by 2005, but there is no deadline to it, so I can work on it as long as I want. Not now though...except for doing MIDIs and possibly recording some voice wavs, and editing pictures. I might get better at drawing for it though.

Haha, those who have played Final Fantasy I on the PSX might recognize that starting tune. Courageous me, still working on the music while computer is being formatted... (up to 5% yesterday? 18 up till now) It is one of the only things I can still do to keep the project alive, whether or not I have to start all over again.
Thanks for the comments up till now.
Have started on a bit of Chapter 2: Bite of the Shadow's music too, that'll be a fine keep for later.

Damn, it's hard to get some more support without MSN... I wish I could have put a zip of the project on my site...unfortunately I was without connection also..
Well, there is still no turning back for me. I have started it years ago, and I have to finish it. Giving up on this would be giving up on my year-old dream. Currently trying to advance at skills for drawing.

Ya, thanks. My father's taken my computer for fixing, so that'll be solved right. (I hope). In the future I might finally get to work on the project again, apart from music.
EDIT: I will keep the title, seeing as I suppose making a saga with the same title as that parody game would do no harm if it had a different plot.

Because as much as I like this game, I haven't seen any charactersets, battleshots, screenshots, nothing like that. I'd really like to see what you've got so far.

Charactersets: Is being worked on too.
Sorry, but I won't need your help. All of it is being done in the background. However some art'd be appreciated, but that is just my opinion.
