Title: will you miss me
Post by: Serano65 on October 22, 2004, 08:00:36 AM
I don't have to go now but I am joining the US army. I leave in 2005 and I am mostly doing this because the whole family is army so I kind of have no say in this. I hope to finish my game before then and do what ever I can to help out because I don't know If I will be able to do anything for you guys fighting a war. I just wanted to say this now because I knew this for about two weeks and I wanted to see  if anyone would miss me here. I happen to know I will miss.

That sucks. You have NO say in it, even if you don't want to? Sounds kind of unfair. Try fleeing to Canada. :P

But yeah. Hope you do what you can and have a great time with the free time you have left.

What kind of parents sends their child into the Army? I tell you one thing, there is no love in that.

Sorry if this offends anyone but that sounds like big load of crap, nobody should be forced to enter the Army, it's like slavery, a war slavery, and that is just plain not right. Your parents must not care to subject you to that kind of stuff.

If it was me I'd leave home. I will not let any Army turn me into some killing machine.

Defending your country, maybe? While I am against war of all kinds, calling his parents terrible is a harsh judgement.

Whatever, I hate to hear parents that would push their children into a war that possibly could get them killed. And defending the country? Hmph, they have enough soldiers unless if they are having them kill each other, which I hope that is not the case. And this war has now lost it's meaning, who are they trying to fool?

Well thats enough of my rant, I'm really worried, that is all...

I hate war. There seems to be no other way to resolve world issues but than to get armies of solders to kill each other.
Dying for your country? What's dying for your country gonna do to make your country win?

thanks to you all I’m glad to know some one care, and in a way I kind of did this to myself. when my mother was over seas four a year she called a lot and one day I told her that a navy recruiter had called asking if I would like to join. “This was over a year ago” She asked me if that meant I would like to go into the military and I said maybe sometime later in well about a mouth ago she said I have to choose to which branch now as long as it was not navy and the air force didn’t look so good  so she signed me up as her first recruit. I kind of have a say but it’s an unspoken rule in our family that at least one person per generation must join so that is why I have no say in the matter. I could say something but then I would have to deal with the whole family and such and I would just end up going anyway.

It doesn't. And personally I think they should support the troops more with more defensive, I want to hear less of deaths due to being "unprepared".

Tropps go out to war and get thrown with crap like being short of supplies and stuff like that.
I remember a while back, when the Iraq war was a bit more fierce, there was a news report about one English Trooper having his Flap-Jacket taken from him and given to another solder. The trooper deprived of his Flap-Jacket, was then sent out into the field without no protect whatsoever!
Well, because you've got to go to war, I just wanna say this. When you do go to war, just try and stay in one piece...

OFF TOPIC: Maybe I should butt out of these type of discussions for a while, cause I've started to rant a bit...

Well, that really sucks man. If I'm ever drafted, I think I'd rather not go. I'd probably go to prison, but I just don't think I'd be able to kill another man. I mean, people say that they're only killing another person to defend themself and because the have a family to go back to, but what about the other soldier? Doesn't he have a family too? I just wouldn't be able to. Not only because it says not to in the Ten Commandments, but also because my heart wouldn't be able to take it. By just killing one person, I'd feel depressed and guilty throughout my whole life. Well, anyway, hope that you come back alive man. I hate when friends have to go to the army. Be strong, and live. We'll be waiting for you when you come back. But at least you can be here for more longer, but when the time comes, we'll miss you. Well, at least I will.

So you'd instead be taken prisoner and tortured by Nazis and tell them everything you know. Trust me, if you were in a battle and had 200+ guys coming after you you'd pull the trigger.

Yeah, what Darkfox said is right. That's what I meant if you didn't get my drift. And prison would still SUK MAJORLY, so that's why I R E A L L Y hope that there isn't a draft.
Title:
Post by: Darkfox on October 22, 2004, 09:12:50 PM
I'm least likely to be drafted, but I'm still against it, because I feel bad for those that will, I mean, IF a draft is passed.

Btw, AoS, how old are you again?

Calm, calm. I'm against political arguments too. But this was an exception since it involves a person we know being put out into it.

In the modern wars, killing someone is sometimes not even noticeable because of the distance.
When my grandfather fought, he shot a bunch of people and didnt even realise it. Later one of his comrades wrote a book on the war, and my grandfather was actually mentioned for killing alot of people.
He was affected when he read it and got very depressed that he had killed so many.

I can't imagine how bad it affected your grandfather was when he discovered that.

Thou shalt not kill.
But I feel sorry for your grandfather Red. God Bless him though, for fighting for our country. *salutes*

The commandment is "Thou shalt not kill" not "Thou shalt not murder". It is still killing.

rrr... this pisses me off... My brother went to iraq for three months. It was a day after he came back that he finally got his desert camo. He was walking around the desert with green camo on!
