Title: For those who are making a game.
Post by: gnetwork on November 21, 2004, 07:14:26 AM
For those who are making a game, what are you using to make it?  Is there a particular reason for that program?

I myself (with two other friends) are using Game Maker (www.gamemaker.nl)  I personally like it for its flexibility.  You can make all sorts of different styles of games with it.  It's pretty good if you don't just want to stick with your typical RPG formula of game play.

Me? I'm using RM2k.  Why? Because my C++ book hates me.

I use rm2k3. Why? 'Cuz it's specially made for making RPGs.

I use rm2k3. I like it 'cause it is used specifically for the production of RPGs, the most exciting type of game to make, in my opinion.

i'm using rm2k3 to make a CBS cuz it has upgraded feats of rm2k, like the battle animations. 2k only has 99 and 2k3 has 999.

I use RPG2k3, why? I tried to use game maker and I failed miserably.

I use GameMaker. Why? Because RPGs aren't the only type of games in the world, plus, TGF sucks to the max (it doesn't have a coding thing, so you can't put in REAL counters, and REAL collision detection).

I use RMXP I use it beacause I like it and the graphics are better than the last edition (RM2K3)

Question for all RM2Kx users.

What are you gonna do when you want to make an RPGish game, but you want more than just move, gather, and battle elements int he game?

Just to let you know, if you use game maker you can make an RPG just fine, but you have MUCH more control on how the game works.

I mean how are you supposed to have a DDR match with the devil using RM2Kx?

True as the fact that there are other types of games out there. The other fact is that I dont really feel like coughing up $18 American just to make a few games. Plus I have enough troubles making these 2D RPG games. I cant imagine how many problems I'd run into trying to make a 3D game or a first person shooter. Thanks but I'll stick with old reliable RPG MAKER 2003

Oh, but you don't mind breaking the law to make a few games?

Law...interesting how ppl have this thing with THE LAW...i'm studying law...law's can be made for justice, law can be unfair, made out for a few ppl's interest. Charging me 100 bucks for a playstation 2 game is the real crime...ppl should care more about ppl, not material stuff.
Well, anyway I use RMK3 cuz the battles r better, there are lots of resources and it is simple.

I use RM2K because a heckuva lot easier than trying to learn a programming language. It's also a lot of fun to see my ideas materialize into a work of art.  I don't use RM2K3 because the additions to it don't appeal to me enough to change.

What's "Unfair" is just your opinion. Sony can charge you whatever the hell they want for a PS2 game, it's not like you need one to live.

I like RM2K3 because it has a clean way to store information.

OH SHUT UP.
$40 plus the cost of the game fine for stealing is so extremely lenient.
You are the worst person ever.

Well, i never said otherwise...i think that in a country like Brazil, charging as much as they do is a crime.

And I agree...RM2k3 has a really clean way to store info. Didn't think of that before hehehe :)

LOL...that's for you. Do u know me? Do u know how i live or what i do? Like I would listen to YOU. Glad u got a money growing tree my friend. (Just though u know, multiply $40 for 3 and u got the game's price here...)

EDIT: BTW, let's not get hostile again, i really like it here cuz i don't have to argue with virtual people...

Money growing on trees? Just because you live in the third world laws shouldn't apply to you?
Puh.

120 bucks for a game is definetly necessary. obviously shop owners raise the price a little so that they too, could earn. plus, not only raise the price a buck or two to earn but maybe 5 bucks because of the delivery fee + product price.

making a professional game is the same as a job. you have to get paid. that's why it's at that price. those people get paid by thousands.. maybe hundred thousands for 3D animators.. i think it's fair..

i also hate high prices.. but hey.. that's why there's piracy.. lol..

Agreed in part. Thing is, Mr. Mr. won't consider how hard it is to get 120 bucks in here. Wanna see? The minimum a person can earn here is 360 bucks a month. A cup os coffee costs 1 buck. A family with 3 ppl, drinking a cup of cofee for breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack and dinner (we eat 4 times a day here) will spend 4x1x3x30 a month=360.

What I meant is, Law is generally made for  certain and selected people (that can buy that sort of thing), when others aren't allowed to eat cuz of law.

Well, this is all a mu point anyway. I'm studying law just to see how possible it is to change this right? AND, I still say no to piracy. I RENT...:)

Back to the subject, i like RPM2k3 over XP cuz of the size of the games...XP games r going to be too big aren't they?
